Link to article below, hard to find info on this because of all the Afghanistan crap going on. No idea what percentage of the market Russian ammo is BUT THIS IS NOT GOOD. Especially for you 7.62 guys...

Idk man, they seem to be pretty good at tracking how stuff is getting in.

My main concern is we are just getting our head above water for ammo prices to go down and now we loose Russian ammo. Jeez that's a kick in the nuts for x39 and even 223 and 9mm. Bunch of poors like me love that steel ammo.

I found that cheap ammo gets poor quality....almost all of my ak failures are ammo related.

I like the the cheap stuff but I love the good stuff!!!!

AK… failures?

Does not compute 👁👄👁

So, a friend of mine with a legal background looked at this from a legal perspective. He's very into ComBloc firearms so he has a vested interest in knowing the facts on this for his cheap Russian ammo habit. Here's what he had to say on the matter:

"ALright.
I am unpacking this at the moment from a legal standpoint.
Hold please....
Alright.
So...
This is the concern.

Item 1
"New sanctions imposed today under the CBW Act include:
Restrictions on the permanent imports of certain Russian firearms. New and pending permit applications for the permanent importation of firearms and ammunition manufactured or located in Russia will be subject to a policy of denial."

Here is the important part here.
"New and pending permit applications for the permanent importation of firearms and ammunition manufactured or located in Russia will be subject to a policy of denial."

As far as I can tell, this imposed sanction is specifically targeting "New and Pending" permit applications. So, from a legal standpoint, this in theory should not be applied to already approved import agreements. Companies like Wolf and TulAmmo, have established and approved import licenses. This sanction specifically seems to be targettng new and pending import licenses. NOT ones that have already been approved."

He suggests the only thing that will happen to our beloved cheap Tula, Wolf and Barnaul ammo is panic buying from people who don't understand the limits of this sanction. He and I both agree that we'll just have to see what happens, and not give into the panic when it comes to *ammunition*. So y'all don't go crazy just yet. Though calling your Congressman to say a legal action is stupid is always fun and helpful to do.

Got out of AK's during the early days of the Obamanation panic (still had a Yugo underfolder & MAK-90 at that time). Made nice change on both, and several thousand rds. of 7.62, including over a thousand rounds of Norinco steel core!

I can see a lotta plinkers getting PO'd, because Tula/Barnaul/Wolf .223 will undoubtedly be affected as well. Because I tested some Silver Bear .308 in my PTR, and accuracy was... 'acceptable,' for 200 yards, I have 500rds. of it at the bottom of the barrel, for "last stand" ammo in that caliber. But I'm still firm of the conviction: Commie ammo for Commie guns. The AR was MADE for brass-cased ammo, and brass-cased I've ALWAYS run in mine, for 30+ years!

Yessss... extractors WILL break over time on brass-cased ammo, too. EVERYTHING does, with enough time AND use. But I also don't purposefully go out and jab an ice pick in my truck tires because - "HEY! You gotta replace 'em eventually ANYWAYS!!!" 🙄 🤪

I'd rather my extractor last a BIT longer than that, so I don't mind spending a little more for the brass cased stuff. MORE expensive steel-cased Russkie stuff makes even LESS sense, if that turns out to be the case.

I hear that the Taliban has a lot of excess ammo in multiple calibers. Maybe President Bidden is just making it easier for them to sell it, (or rather, sell it back,) to us.? He is, after all, a very sensitive, caring and thoughtful fellow dedicated to following his oath of office to the letter. Got to go now. My flying pigs need grooming. Ciao!

The money I've saved shooting steel out of my ARs would probably buy a whole case of replacement extractors.

UNTIL it's "steel case," vs. "AR-15 club"...

There's a shortage on ammo that's made it crazy expensive ... so let's make it worse by banning the cheap ammo people can get because GUN CONTROL.

Thanks, Joe.

Bad news. According to Rob Ski, when they say "new and pending," that *does* include pre-existing import deals because the importers/exporters have to renew their trade agreement each time they ship. This is bad. Very bad.

Does that mean a ban on all Chinese manufactured goods is coming next for the Wuhan virus? This will effect everyone, even if you don't shoot these cartridges as then Winchester and other ammo companies shift limited production and resources to those cartridges effecting your desired ammo. Need .300 WSM, .338 Win Mag? Not happening as they are now making 7.62x39/54R. Ripple effect.

Not as long as Hunter is on the Chinese payroll.

Some of the Wolf and Red Army Standard is made in the Ukraine now, so maybe it won’t be as bad as we think, but will surely cause a price increase and probably some panic purchasing.

Red army Standard ammo was made in Romania, at one time. It will take time, but these brands will probably shift production to Eastern Europe. Maybe the impact will be temporary.

Yeah I'm seeing a 6¢ increase overnight on ammoseek alone.

Ukraine, Yugoslavia, and Taiwan make x39 also. But I doubt they can meet the demand of cheap ammo and this seems to be the higher priced stuff like wolf gold. Now that the YouTubers have caught wind of it, it'll rapidly go up. My private group of degenerates actually broke the news before the YouTubers did for once 😂

Word has it that the Prez is going to stop importation of Russian made ammo starting early next month. Prices have just gone up from .26$ to .40$ almost overnight. That is bad news for me since that was the only volume caliber I could still afford these days.

While this could be lifted again at any time that historically never happens. What a di%% move, I am not buying for a second that this is done to punish Russia for the Navalny affair or the Krim annexation, this is solely done to drive up prices.

Damn man, I'm wondering if I should renew my shooting club dues. Don't have time to go for one thing, can't afford to shoot for another. I'll keep it, but it's just getting harder and harder to justify it.

Since China pretty much owns the current Prez, no, there will be no bans at all on the one country that actually IS a hostile superpower. I argued with a friend in Germany recently and I asked him "Imagine for a second there was a virology lab in Germany in Hamburg and a virus breaks out ... in Hamburg of all places. The world would have Germany over a barrel demanding an explanation!"

The guns market was starting to soften so this is just in time. No better way to boost revenues that create panic.....old as dirt.

Permits are filed for approved on shipments not manufacturers.

It's interesting that this regime is standing up for someone who's mission is to highlight gross fraud in government.

KLIN - TON I made it up to 'em, with classified guided missile technology, when he banned Norinco imports in February of '94.

What's SlowJoe givin' 'em, to KEEP Norinco out of the country? 🤔
