S&W fpc folding carbine

10mm, you say?

iu
Yup. you beat me to it.
If i were to get a hipoint carbine, i'd want the 9mm version, in the planet of the apes monkey gun version before they went with the giger-esque Aliens design

Gonna need a lot of aftermarket support for that to overtake the sub2k.
Most of the sub2k aftermarket support is to fix problems that the S&W addressed: optic mounting, charging handle, m-lok slotsā€¦
I think once you fix those issues with aftermarket with parts the Sub2k will be more expensive

i found that while i was searching for a 30 rounder that might fit in the buttstock
Video reviews it looks pretty tight between the charging handle (?) And the 23 round mags. Hopefully s&w isn't that dumb that a 30 won't work, or a 34 to one up Glock.

Nevermind I'm stupid, it's going over the mags. Wonder how strong that stock is maybe some some m&p drum mags are in order.

Like an AR, the most popular rifle in the country? yup, thatā€™s a brain teaserā€¦
Well sure, not that the AR charging handle is ideal, but if they were following that model why not an AR style thumb safety?

Also did you watch the Mrgunsngear video? He mentions you need to grab both sides to charge the thing. So the AR and keltec systems are better from that perspective.

It's really ugly, but $600 street price at PSA right now and it takes m&p mags. I feel like it's a direct competition to the sub2k and being able to keep an optic on is a better design.
<SNIP>

I agree, much better for optics but where the KT is better is that it folds essentially flat. You can fit it in a normal briefcase when folded. This thing would take a suitcase, and will not fit under a car seat either. There was an optional mag carrier for the buttstock with the gen 1 Sub2Ks that was very similar to what the S&W shows here, but they did away with it for the Gen 2 models.

Too big or too small goldielocks Goldilocks? See me after class. -Professor Slimer

It's an inch longer than an M16A2's LOP.
It's a 1/2 inch longer than a 870's LOP.
It's got a LOP similar to a goose or trap gun which is a total 180 for what is the role of a PDW.
Doesn't even take in possibility of armor/LBE/clothing.

It's a hard pass until the 2.0 version with adjustable stock.

The aftermarket of most firearms is to fix their shortcomings. Or at least perceived shortcomings

You make good points.

Both grammatically and tactically šŸ˜‰.

It doesn't take Glock mags and is in 9mm. That's shooting one foot off before you started the race.
I donā€™t understand why everyone is discrediting M&P mags. Theyā€™re not as prolific as Grock mags, but thereā€™s a lot of them out there. As a non-Grock fanboi (and full-on M&Pee fanboi), this thing is very attractive. And thatā€™s me saying that after just denouncing the PCC idea this very weekend.

That's fine, but consider the size of the Glock landscape (clones, 80% stuff etc etc) and the size of the M&P community. The difference is vast. I get they want to be boosters for their own product line, but there's a reason almost everything goes for Glock mag compatibility.

Once you set aside issued duty weapons the M&P isn't even close in market share and this thing isn't aimed at cops.

Anything other than 9mm is either a dying boomer caliber(40S&W or 45 ACP) or a reddit meme caliber(10mm?).
M&Ps aren't as common as they used to be but are probably the third most common polymer handgun in NC after Glock and Sig. At least that's my guess.
There's a pretty steep drop-off after first place.

Must be a QC thing. First 10 seconds of the tfb tv video he charges on one side only.

But sig sucks and police agencies are getting shot by them and are quickly being replaced. I'd be surprised if m&p wasn't #2 if military contracts were removed. We rarely ever see military surplus guns hit civ market.

You have to remember this cuts both ways. Some 18 year old is going to buy this and when he turns 21 guess what pistol he is going to buy?
You also have people who donā€™t own 10 glocks but need a truck gun. They buy this, trade their G19 in for a M&P 9 2.0 and move on with their life.
The reason Glock was popular was because of the Pistol not the mags. Glock has not innovated in decades. I am a prime example, bought a 43X hated it, sold that and traded my G26 in for a P365X and never looked back.

Blasphemy. The new ones say Gen 5 right there on the slide. If that's not innovation, I don't know what is. And some even have an X after the number now.

I just don't understand the need or desire to fold at the breach. Just fold it behind the bolt, at the recoil assembly sacrificing a little length for not having to worry a out headspace all the time.

If they would so that, I'd actually be interested.

I don't think it's Glock keeping the Glock ecosystem valid right now, it's all the third party manufacturers making them disposably cheap and infinitely configurable (outside of the basics of frame size and action).

I built my last "Glock" for about the price of a Taurus G3. It's set up just like I want it, looks just like I want it and uses a cheap and plentiful magazine (Glock format Magpul mags).

Yes, you may see folks add an M&P to match the carbine but that's going to be a much smaller pool that those who would add a compatible carbine to a raft of handguns they already have. How many AR9s take M&P mags? Or anything other than Glock and Colt mags, with Colt magwells becoming less and less prevalent.

I'm pretty sure this will either be sidelined as a niche product or suddenly sprout Glock compatibility after sales underwhelm.

And that's before we consider the "parts bin abortion" anesthetics and ergonomics. I intentionally build/buy weird, ugly guns and even I think this thing is fugly.
