SC Sectional USPSA 2017

Okay. I'll do some research into the GA event. Thanks for the heads up. I hope it's in Savannah, Athens or Augusta. much further than that, that would mean I'd need a hotel.

I'm a full-time college student. As much as I enjoy putting holes into pieces of paper (usually right in the central area of where I aim it), I am unable to give up a weekend and $200+ for something, even if it's something I like to do. After I graduate (in, like 2 years), I'll be making some pretty decent money (I'm not in it for the money, but from my research, Dietitians/Nutritionist are paid quite well).

Yep. I'll have a pretty decent arsenal after my first paycheck. I may think about investing in a larger backyard. Okay, I'm rambing (and counting future chickens before the egg is even out of the current chicken).

Keep plugging away at those evil targets. As I always say "It's better to be too prepared than not be prepared enough.", which includes having great skill (and equipment) for protecting yourself and yours.

Have a fun time and God Bless!

very respectfully,
J.J.

Palmetto Gun Club in the Summerville area will be hosting a match April 8th. 6 stages for $20. Nice club to get your feet wet at.

I added an APEX barrel to my M&P, and installed a high power striker spring after the shit show at S-burg last month. I have also been doing half assed dry-fire and some live fire. Doubt any of this will help me, but should be fun. Checking for any bugs in the gun tomorrow at S-burg!

I have found over time that no matter how well or ill prepared I am, it is how things click (or not) on the first stage that indicates how "ready" I really am. The same with fencing tournaments, as it is the first bout that lets me know how my day is likely going to go. I don't think that I have ever gone to a shooting or fencing competition and felt "ready". I pretty much try to do my best (whatever it is that day) and see how it compares to others. ;)

Sometimes, if I have an awesome first stage, I'll actually start to expect too much from myself and push harder. That is when the match goes to Hell in a hand basket. I have really been trying to stay consistent on my stages and ignore my mistakes. My shooting could always use more work but I am trying to focus on the mental aspect of the game. I don't want to loose my focus because of a bad stage or a particularly great stage.

Matches like SC are a big mental challenge. Being able to stay focused for 9 stages with several breaks is not easy to do. Last year with the breaks and back ups there was several "first stages".

I'll keep this in mind. Being only a few months into shooting single stack division, I have a number of things to keep aware of so the breaks might do me good.

My calendar just opened up for Friday. I just registered, maybe there is a spot or two open. Does anyone know if there's anything open on Friday?

I'm in on Saturday as well. Anyone in the Charlotte area want to ride with me? I'll be heading out about 4:30 am from Denver and heading through Charlotte around 5am.

Riding down Friday around midday. Waking up at 3AM isn't what I call fun.

Agree!

Driving down Saturday morning at 4am sounded like a good idea 3 months ago but now....not so much. New plan is getting to the range early afternoon, register, watch Friday shooters for a while, early dinner, hotel, good nights sleep, wake up, pew, pew, pew........

I'll still be driving down Saturday morning, I'm up that early every morning anyway.

Squad 6 RULES!!!!
Real shooters will leave the house 2 hours before 1st shots. Arrive on squad just as thier name is being called for the 1 st shooter.

Seeing I shoot a stage then have a break. I'll have time to look at stages without getting there early.

That would be my preferred method of going to the match, but work has other ideas. Driving in the wee hours of the morning is in the cards for me. :(

As far as the stages go, if I take more than the normal walk through time it just gives me more time to create multiple plans. After the buzzer sounds my intitial plan might go out the window, but I won't be likely to get stuck trying to decide which of multiple plans to follow.

When I get more than 1 stage plan in my head, I just shoot all of them.:D

Has the matchbook been posted somewhere? I've seen the stages but haven't come across the match book yet.
