I've always liked single shots. I have two Browning BPCS rifles, .45-70 and .40-65 calibers that I used for Black Powder Silhouettes. Never got the accuracy I wanted out of the .40-65, but haven't finished working with it yet! Also, 2 #1's, one in .30-06 and one .22 Hornet heavy barrel. I have gotten sub 1" out of the Hornet, but it is finicky. I also have a Contender (1st Gen) with a number of barrels. Hunting with a single shot will really make you think about your shots. I had some friends down in Florida that hunted single-shot style, even if they had a repeater. Out in the morning with only 1 round, and if you came back without either a loaded round, or a deer, you were probably going to lose your shirt tail and buy the evening round of drinks!
