I have a nephew (my first oldest nephew) and my wife asked me what we should give him as a grad gift.
First thought in my mind: I'll give him a rifle, along with several pmags and 100rds of ammo.
Before this gets leaked to the media and I get featured in a negative light:
My nephew is a Jr ROTC squad leader, cross country team captain at his (as well as my wife, my own, and his families) high school, and a general all around great American kid.
He wanted to join the Marine Corps fresh out of High School, but thankfully(hopefully) he wants to go to college. So he enlisted in the Army Reserves, and ships out to Ft Benning at the end of June just after his 18th birthday.
My first thought was he needs to practice with irons so he can try and make Expert.
His family really helped us out last year with my daughters' graduation, with my brother-in-law cooking nearly all night to make around 80lbs of smoked pulled pork. And it was absolutely delicious.
So I will post some pics up in the coming weeks of a nice kid with his first AR15
PSA upper 1:7 Nitride middy 16"
PSA premium BCG bolt was HPT/MPI
PSA classic complete lower
Magpul MOE stock and MBUS
Trigger was bad 8+lbs until I smoothed it out some by hand cycling the hammer and dry firing. Terrible still but 7.5lbs is better than it was.
Anyhow its his to modify to taste
I threw in 2 new pmags, plus a metal D&H, 100rds of xm193, a boresnake and a bottle of CLP.
Mission Accomplished:
His parents got him a pretty nice gift as well - Ibanez hollow top electric guitar
