The "Did you shoot your NFA items today?" thread...

I went and visited my first suppressor in jail today for the first time. It’s a Griffin Explorr 300, shot it on an AR. It was nice, I’m excited to get into shooting suppressed. And now I’m extra impatient!

My RC2 is still in jail, but another range member let me throw his on my rifle today. Cycled nicely, didn’t feel like I was eating a bunch of gas.

Shot some suppressed 5.7 today. Failed to get a pic.

AR57 w/ F1 can
PS90 w/ Turbo K
Rock 5.7 w/ Phantom 22

Hosts were flawless. One ammo issue (single round) and one catastrophic failure (Phantom 22 blown in half…all parts recovered).

Here’s the failed ammo round. It fired, but didn’t allow the next one to chamber.

Oh, I like this !

Battery Oaks past weekend, .22 Sparrow and .45 Gemtech, let another member try the Gemtech on his 9mm Stribog A3. 😃

I put the 3 lug adapter on my aac Ti-rant to try out the Ruger carbine, when I pulled it off the gun and was bagging everything up,IMG_3545.jpeg
Had to scratch my head, and clean everything up.

Finally figured everything out got the stack back together and thankfully the was no rattling. Going to shoot it a few rounds then rockset the rear back together.

I launched the guts of one of those downrange at the PSA range by Hilton Head once. Good times scrambling around in the sand looking for baffles.

Replaced my buffer spring with a Sprinco red to slow the BGC down a bit as it was pretty violent suppressed. It definitely reduced the violence/recoil.

Shot some unsuppressed to make sure it still cycled. No only did it cycle, there was zero muzzle rise. Should have swapped it out ages ago.

It still has some rise when suppressed so I’m gonna swap a steel buffer weight out for a tungsten and hopefully magic happens: little to no muzzle rise suppressed and still cycling unsuppressed.

What buffer are you running now? Barrel length?

KAC part number claims an H2. It’s an 11.5 inch.

So it’ll be an H3 with a sprinco red. If I open the buffer and it actually has 2 tungsten and one steel.

10-4👍

I was running a 10.3 with an H2/Std carbine spring/non-adj GB, unsuppressed.

Switched to a red/H3 combo and it made a substantial difference when shooting suppressed or unsuppressed.

Hell yeah. So hopeful.

I can’t slap an adjustable gas block on because of the proprietary KACness gas block. But I have a sneaking suspicion that the H3/Sprinco red is going to be the money shot.

Will update when my tungsten weight gets here 🤙

Thanks for the insight 🙏🏻

I have two 10.3 rigs set up identically, except for the optics. Like I mentioned before, no adjustable gas block, std spring, H2, VG6 Gamma brake. Both ran well unsuppressed, were pretty smooth and consistently threw brass at 4:00.

Once I suppressed them, they both performed the same. They were a bit more “violent” to shoot and brass was going to 2:00-2:30. Although I have neither the intention nor desire to shoot either one unsuppressed, I still wanted both to function reliably, can on or can off.

I considered an adjustable GB, but decided to make adjustments to the buffers/springs instead. I ordered both the blue/red and a couple of H3s.

First combo I tried was the blue/H2. There really wasn’t any discernable difference suppressed, but a slight improvement unsuppressed. Moved to blue/H3 and it was a bit better unsuppressed and a big difference unsuppressed. Went with the red/H3 next and there was marked improvement both with and especially, without the can. Soft shooting (imo) and consistent ejection to 3:30.

I have a 14.5 rig I was running with a std spring/carbine buffer. Just for kicks, I put the blue in and ran it with an H2…decided to stick with that combo for it👍

You remember shooting mine? Standard spring and buffer, but an AGB turned down so low it doesn’t even cycle with the can removed. I think it’s pretty soft shooting that way.

😎😁

I’m happy to hear the H3 and Sprinco Red works on the 10.3 (I’m building one now!) I think it’ll be the bees knees on the 11.5 as well.

Thank you much for the detailed write up. 🙏🏻

I also run a thin layer of moly grease in the buffer tube…same stuff I use on barrel nuts..Valvoline 632, best I remember..I can run look right quick.

It still. Cycles. Unsuppressed. With an H3 and Red spring. I might order an orange. I’m gonna take it to the edge.

Lemme know how it does…I may do the same.

What barrel are you using? 10.3, right?
