I keep hoping to see one at work... I do want one.
If you get one and you install an ambi I will buy the SA thumb safety from you.Long term I figure if I can get one at a good price, like from work, Id be more then willing to just replace the extractor from jump and install an ambi safety.
Sure, Id like to have an orginal FN, but hey, atleast its not FN's "New and Improved" one. Blech.
Its not like Id need it anymore lolIf you get one and you install an ambi I will buy the SA thumb safety from you.
$800 shipped with 3 NIW Mecgar 13s. He told me he would take $750 for the pistol and 1 15 rounder. LOLIts not like Id need it anymore lol
First, first I need to get ahold on one -_-
Im patient 😀 if it is going to pop up at the store, it will eventually....$800 shipped with 3 NIW Mecgar 13s. He told me he would take $750 for the pistol and 1 15 rounder. LOL

I want one. But I’ve been around long enough to wait a bit for the growing pains to be worked out. I’ll eventually save up my squirrel money again and find one <$800 and bring it home.
Yup, often when new things come out I get all excited and want one immediately. But often it’s a passing fancy. With this one, it’s still on the list, but for me at least a $650-800 gun just for giggles is a tough pill to swallow as it really doesn’t fit a particular niche for me.I was talking about this pistol yesterday at my LGS, they haven’t had any and I was unaware of the extractor issue until now. My feelings on this is I really wanted one when they first came out but now that time has passed I am indifferent. Definitely never liked the ugly new FN model.
My approach to most purchases is wait a bit before buying to make sure it isn’t just a passing fancy. This isn’t to say I may not pick one of these up down the road at a good used price but as of right now there are other things I’d rather buy. Top of list is a 6” 357 mag revolver.
Interesting what did you not like about it?I handled one at the last Dixie show and was not impressed. I'd like to see it next to the Girsan which is a supposedly more exact copy

Never understood that mentality. I own a few FN BHPs and all of them get shot. Many get carried none of them are babied.I love the hi power and would really like to see this thing do well. Low enough and I'll pick one up for doing things to that would be unspeakable for my fn.
More like trying to cut one up for optics and other shanigans. My fn has plenty of finish missing and my hammer bite scar is pretty big.Never understood that mentality. I own a few FN BHPs and all of them get shot. Many get carried none of them are babied.
if you do lighting cuts you can keep the entire gun the exact same weight.I have modified my fair share of BHPs. I personally would not put and optic on one. The balance in the hand would never be the same. Other enhancements are ok.

It is not about the “weight” it is the balance in the hand for me. An optic would alter pretty much everything I love about the BHP. YMMVif you do lighting cuts you can keep the entire gun the exact same weight.
Has anyone on CFF bought one yet?
If so what are your thoughts after shooting it?
I bought a new one yesterday for $650, haven't shot it yet though. Figured I'd try it since it was below msrp.Has anyone on CFF bought one yet?

Tell us how it shoots. Do you own any FN BHPs as a point of comparison?I bought a new one yesterday for $650, haven't shot it yet though. Figured I'd try it since it was below msrp.

Both are 9mm steel guns with the browning locked breech but after that the similarities are cosmetic only IMHO. I love both platforms.
What are the problems they've been having with the extractors? From what I have been able to find SA is replacing extractors but I cannot find out if they have changed or updated the design.

I haven't had an SA-35 in the shop as of yet to look over, so have refrained from commenting, but I strongly suspect that the issue with the extraction problems is the extractor spring itself. The extractor in the HP is really nothing more than a properly shaped piece of steel that obviously needs to be shaped as needed and have proper heat treatment. The spring however is subject to stress failures if not properly heat treated. Either overstressing or improper tempering can cause failures such as seen on the SA-35. It seems unlikely that the extractor would fail as seen on these guns unless the claw (or hook) breaks. I'd venture a guess that Springfield does not make their own springs but rather has them manufactured by a source known to them and the manufacture of the springs was not to spec.
