Thinking about a single stack plastic pistol in .45acp. Shield? Glock? others?

Why you say. Because I have 45 ammo, but the only blaster I have in that caliber is a full sized 1911 match blaster, and I’m not ever going to carry that boat anchor. I carry a G43 now, and have since not long after they came out, so that is the benchmark.

Glock 36?
S&W Shield in 45?

I don’t think I would carry a commander sized 1911, although I’d enjoy having one. For this thought exercise I’m not considering it.

Go.

Used to have a 36, it was OK, feels like a 19. I have shot a buddies shield 45 and it was extremely unpleasant.

this one is near you

Yes, they do. I bought a P45 in 2010 and put a lot of rounds thru it. I like the long pull for carrying as it serves as a sort of
"safety". Just a personal taste I realize. :)
I thought my CW380 had a very smooth, (long) trigger at 5lbs. I just think I want any alternate carry gun to not have a trigger appreciably different than the G43 I carry most. Thanks for mentioning it though.

Exactly! Because I became so comfortable with the Kahr trigger, some striker fired guns with real short take up won't work for me now. I do have a Walther PPS with a nice trigger....a single stacker, and just bought a Sig 365XL also with nice trigger. I like the grip better on the Sig which is a "hair" wider for the area between the thumb and forefinger.

Isn't Glock always the answer?And
Well, there is a G36 for sail/sell/cell here right in my town.

And there is your answer folks........right here on CFF.

And one good thing to know is that if you do decide to sail/sell/cell it again it will move on CFF by simply placing it right back into the BST.

Problem solved.

Of course there is!
FG&G
I doubt if they have one right now. I’ll probably check. Not decided for sure that’s the way I’m gonna go on this. Had a G30SF some years ago. It was a great shooter.

You are probably never going to be as happy carrying a bigger heavier .45 if the 43 sets the standard.

I was in a similar situation in 2020 and I sold both of the .45 1911 boat anchors and the .45 ammo. Made my life simpler and my bank account happier.

I’m not selling all this .45 in the current climate. I also shoot 1911’s in matches. Just figured I’d come up with a back up carry blaster in case I shoot up all the 9, and have trouble getting more if things get dicier.

Makes sense and I thought about that. I just set aside a case of 9mm to not shoot up.

So in your case I agree with the Glock 36.

I've shot @Geezer 45 Shield and it was an excellent shooter, and I'm not a Shield fan by no means. I've not owned a single stack Glock, but had a 30s that was a very good, pleasant gun to shoot. Should have kept it.

I said the same thing about a 30SF which just had a wider slide.

Just do a G30 and if you run out of ammo you can use it to bludgeon your opponent to death.

It might be too much money, but the DW Eco in 45 is a pretty easy gun to conceal and shoots really well for a small 1911. Kinda wish I had never traded mine. I am a dumb ass.

I’ve got the Shield45 and the original XDS45. No experience with the G36... it seems to get so-so reviews compared to other Glocks. Out of the two Shield and XDS, it is extremely close. Reliability is excellent. The XDS has a better trigger in my opinion so I give a slight edge to the XDS.

I had been jonesing for a TCP, but I don’t want to spring for that jack. I just want a spare carry blaster that will run this other pistol caliber I happen to keep.

Can’t believe no one has mentioned the XDs .45. I’ve had a few, preferred them over the Shield, never owned a Kahr that was 100% reliable. I had a G36 for about a minute, that thing was huge in comparison to the XDs. Results vary, just my .02 worth from a dude with smallish hands.

There’s something for everybody, but I had an XDS when they first came out and honestly hated it. Maybe newer editions are better, but trigger slap and the aggressive grip made it feel like an M-80 going off in my hand.

The Ultimate pocket 45:

Painful to shoot, rudimentary sites, but mine has never failed to go bang when I pulled the trigger. Having said that, my winter edc is usually a 36.

Same results here with that "Back Up", but it's Heavy.
What about that thing with the flames painted on it and the silver grip? That was comfortable to shoot. G21?
Soft shooting...WAY too big to tote around.
Must be tough to have such small hands.
😜🤣😻
So far hasn't hindered me counting money. That seems to cure All.
