This Forums Direction

I'm like you wahoo,,I guess I need to spend more time on the forum.Btw I'm offended that you played for Va instead of Clemson
I'm still offended by the amount of money that I have sent to UVA.

I agree that there's nothing wrong with the forum. We certainly shouldn't allow personal attacks, etc. and we don't, but we also shouldn't be MAKING personal attacks. Doing so only shows the attacker is arguing from a weak position.

We learn and grow from the differences of opinion we see at CFF. That is part of what makes this site great.

When you have a bunch of people who talk about guns, politics, women, religion, cars, nanner puddin, and Dukes mayo you can bet someone is goung to get their toes stepped on.

It's their own fault if they ain't wear'in their steel toe shoes.

poster #1

poster #2

In an "attempt" to be fair and even handed in my example and comment, please notice I have not identified the source of the quotes above so no one will have any idea who made these statements. :D

For anyone who shares the experiences of poster #1 above, I recommend the attitude and approach of poster #2.
I can't believe I am actually saying that. lol
So if someone violates the few rules we say we have the correct response is to violate those same rules ourselves?

Wait banana pudding and Dukes ... although I have tried Blue Plate because of a comment made by another forum member. I will never eat banana pudding with wipped topping.
So if it offends you, then just be offended.

Direction of the forum? What did I miss?
We were all going to dinner, and somebody turned left instead of right.

No biggie...we eventually made it. :p

I want to address the comments @Cowboy mentioned, because I think it warrants a response. This is in general, and not just focused on Cowboy.

Most all of the moderators on this forum work full time jobs. So, unless it's after hours and pottie breaks, daytime allows for things to sit out there for a few hours. The example I will take from, Cowboys post is this... He took a stance, and several people disagreed with him. It's a forum of a few thousand people... It might happen.

I was reading the comments in that thread and saw the Kingman comment and then the "cop fellator". As soon as it got "*out of line" it was addressed. The kingsman statement stood. the comment was addressed to the satisfaction of the staff behind the scenes, and the person who stepped over the line was spoke to, apologized and took ownership , and we all moved on.

Moderation of a gun forum to liberty minded staff is tough. What do you leave, what do you take? Does freedom of speech trump someone's butt hurt? Do you have an open forum to let folks say whatever they want to say to show freedom of speech? It's tough and not easily done behind the scenes. And it takes moderators to be opinionated and not afraid to step on each other's toes and get butt hurt because of the greater good of the forum.

I'm not good at math but I'm pretty sure two negatives don't equal a positive, so no.

My point is this, if a poster takes a contrarian view (on a routine basis I might add), and then looks around sheepishly wondering why all the hate, they either need to reconsider their comments and how they might be received, or expect the worst when they make them and just roll with it.

Or as someone said above..."buck up, buttercup". And I mean that in the nicest way possible. :)

I was told there would be no math.

I think as long as Threats of violence are policed, everything else should be fine...
This brings up a point worthy of discussion. To some it seems saying you will defend yourself is a threat of violence. Some seem to be fine with threats of violence as long as they're being made by government.

Hey I'm not easily offended by anything and don't care about being called a cock Rucker by any of you Guys that have been here more than a few days. But honestly the influx of new militiant down with the king types is concerning. Honestly because I express a not even pro Leo opinion, Names start flying? It's just a little over the top. I try my best to be respectful to everyone and back up my options with at least common sense.

When was the last time the government made a threat of violence against you here on the forum?

New posters that start out with that kind of crap I typically ignore, or brow beat fiercely about the head and shoulders.

I just back away when things get overly heated and I am involved. Not worth ruining relationships.
Wisdom right here. The anonymity provided by the internet sometimes results in periodic poo flinging contests, and when one stays in the room while said poo is being flung, they are probably going to get some on them.

So rules only apply as long as the person is rolling with the flow? Got it. If you have a different opinion your fair game.

I may be one of the prime offenders when it comes to slamming in some of the LEO threads.
As a retired SHP I tend to be a little more intolerant than most. I've been there, done that and frankly it's embarrassing to me when I read about some of the crap these cops are pulling these days. Fortunately with the advent of body cameras there in absolute proof of wrongdoing and there isn't much to argue since it's all right there!!
I sincerely wish we had that technology back in my day, it would have solved a LOT of mystery and "re-aligned" more than a few careers.......

While I am a moderator, I don't follow a lot of the political/SJW oriented threads. Therefore, I don't do much moderatorish stuff.

What I can assure everyone is that, behind the scenes, the mods take great care in balancing the many competing interests and personalities.

If anyone feels unfairly treated, that's on them.

You ALWAYS have a different opinion. Who in the heck knows why. Does it not dawn on you that when you do that, and repeatedly, and on an internet forum, that you are going to get bounced around some?

Just an addendum.... I wasn't speaking of you personally... But you just made some good points that I could make examples of that needed to be addressed to the masses. I thought your post was on point.

And don't forget. For those that are easily offended and that are unwilling to use the back button or simply move on, there is always the "ignore" button.

Heck, out of the 75 replies in this thread I could only see 4 of them :D

Holy Cow.

You mean I can voice my opinion on something and if the Mods/Admin don't agree, they won't delete my posts or even a whole thread?

I'm not going to be censored??

Most who know me, know that I never did anything but rebel against the "Man" trying to squash my thoughts and freedom of speech somewhere else.

Hmmm...I may just stay here afterall. :)

Thankfully they haven't, and the discussions have remained theoretical and been of the "if X were to happen to me, like it did to someone in Y news story". Like I said, some are fine with government agents threatening the use of or committing violence, but believe it is wrong for people to defend themselves against said violence.

Dont know what I missed, but I didnt know the forum was heading in a 'bad direction.'

All I want to know is, what happened to Krabba! Besides the chick threads, when is the last time we had a thread bust 10 pages? I didn't agree with everything he did but man, that dude could battle!
