This Forums Direction

Holy Cow.

You mean I can voice my opinion on something and if the Mods/Admin don't agree, they won't delete my posts or even a whole thread?

I'm not going to be censored??

Most who know me, know that I never did anything but rebel against the "Man" trying to squash my thoughts and freedom of speech somewhere else.

Hmmm...I may just stay here afterall. :)

You HAVE to stay Wolfie. You are one mean, gun-toting, motorcycle riding, hot mama that keeps all the guys in line. Mostly in line looking at your delicious meals in the cooking thread!! :)

You ALWAYS have a different opinion. Who in the heck knows why. Does it not dawn on you that when you do that, and repeatedly, and on an internet forum, that you are going to get bounced around some?
WRONG. Many times I agree with the crowd you just don't seem to acknowledge them. Other times I only comment on errors someone has made on a point of law or logic and you assume I am defending whatever act the thread was about. You should read closer because if you see an odd word you can rest assured that that word is used for a specific meaning.

Most of the time when I agree with the crowd I just don't say anything at all because a Hurrumph from me doesn't do anything to advance the thread.

Any discussion is basically allowed until it reaches the level of a threat, personal attack, or condoning violence

Ya'll might want to tighten up here a bit. I've been seeing a bit of all three.

All three?

Please use the report button if you see such. All moderators work other full time jobs. The forum is checked sporadically, not monitored 24/7 unfortunately, as there isn't revenue to pay a full time moderator, everyone is volunteering. I've seen one instance of it getting a bit out of hand recently and warnings were given by our moderators, and a thread removed so cooler heads could prevail. Nothing major. I've never seen a threat against a member, please link the post where a member has threatened another member. Threatening a member will not be tolerated and earn a perm ban on this site, and the threatened member may take it further elsewhere with the judicial system if they truly feel threatened.

As far as personal attacks, with many that is subjective. Challenging ones opinion isn't a personal attack, directly calling them stupid in the general area of the forum is. Making them look or feel stupid with a rebuttal isn't a personal attack.

Discussion of future hypothetical situations where the use of force is a possibility to defend your right to life etc, isn't condoning senseless violence. There's a difference in discussion of defense of your natural rights, and calling to take out or harm a specific political leader, member, or any citizen, which would be a call for violence we can't allow. We will always allow discussion of defending constitutional and natural rights.

Again please link those posts.
Thanks!

@MuzzerFuzzer , I hope we cross paths some day. You make laugh on a daily basis.
If I ever run off n get married again, just before I make that mistake, I'll drop by your house. Please talk me out of it. :D The first time didn't take. I know that the hallway coming out of the JOP's office at the Horry County Courthouse is really not a mile long, it just looks that way. ;)

Damn, and I thought everything was going along just fine, when it was really headed to hell in a hand basket. I must pay closer attention in the future.

Well I've been called a Di@khead and using bigger words called a cock sucker of cops. In the last few weeks. Told to find my own damn thread. For nothing more than expressing my opinion. I've been here and everywhere a long time with you guys I'm not really the type to complain. But there is a line people need to be more thoughtful. I'm ok with being called an agent of the king or kings man or pig or whatever names you want. I like gonzo personally, but when it comes from someone that has been here less than a week it's concerning. I've always been an easy going member and rarely report stuff. But I think you need to draw a hard line on this behavior because it will drive people away.

(Not quoting for just you)

I'm good with buttons and checking boxes. Never been spectacular at, or even remotely accused of having a decent vocabulary. Ask @thrillhill - he has to break down the big words for me, and make me look up new words at least once a week.

Unlike some places, we are NOT grooming this place to be sold out from under (the collective) "you", and would greatly appreciate everyone taking pride in community supporting this place and act like "you" would if you were face to face with whomever you're interacting with on here.

Keyboard anonymity is fabulous, but some people need to seriously think about how they are "speaking" to each other. Good gawd, just act like you would if you were on neutral ground and face to face.

The report button works because we don't get to read every post in every thread. It would sure be nice just to have some IT group to take the pressure off us so we could just sit and talk junk all day.

Wait... nevermind...

All three?

As far as personal attacks, with many that is subjective. Challenging ones opinion isn't a personal attack, directly calling them stupid in the general area of the forum is.

What if the name calling (oh, for example, 'cock$ucker') is done in another section of the forum - is it then ok?
Because Ive seen it multiple times by one member with nothing removed etc

I may as well just go ahead and say it since someone's bound to be offended by that last statement.

IT'S A FRIGGIN JOKE

And don't forget. For those that are easily offended and that are unwilling to use the back button or simply move on, there is always the "ignore" button.

Heck, out of the 75 replies in this thread I could only see 4 of them :D
Ignore button is the cowards way out... but you probably don't even see this so...

Wait banana pudding and Dukes ... although I have tried Blue Plate because of a comment made by another forum member. I will never eat banana pudding with wipped topping.
So if it offends you, then just be offended.
I sit back and enjoy the nanner puddin post cause I don't eat nanner puddin. Me and bannans have a love hate relationship. I love to hate'em.

When you have a bunch of people who talk about guns, politics, women, religion, cars, nanner puddin, and Dukes mayo you can bet someone is goung to get their toes stepped on.

It's their own fault if they ain't wear'in their steel toe shoes.

@mj1angier

Perfect time for you to post your description of how this place came to be.

I'm not the one sitting next to the one sitting next to the one that called the piccolo player a cop fellator. I just wanna know who called the cop fellator a piccolo player.

I've not been on this board for very long, so any publicly-expressed opinions, regardless how lucid and/or carefully presented, should almost certainly be dismissed. Including this one.

I really, really, really like it here. Really.

So rules only apply as long as the person is rolling with the flow? Got it. If you have a different opinion your fair game.
I'm trying to process this.

Are you saying that if you have a different opinion your fair game and that different opinion doesn't matter for the other person if it's not your opinion.

Good Lord, I just confused myself.

ETA - IT'S A FRIGGIN JOKE - i guess I should just make this my signing statement

Name calling in general section on an open forum isn't called for. If we've missed it my apologies. Report it confidentiality and we'll eventually take care of it, especially from a random new member calling you a cock sucker. If it's in PM and you feel offended, that can be reported also.

If your called things in other areas, well those areas are request access that require thick skin, and we can remove access of anyone that doesn't want to read, take, or dish it. That area can still remain respectful to a degree and have a heated debate. Report it in those areas if it's crossing the line. There's even an area of this forum we have other moderators / admin assigned to that I don't visit or open. Some basement. That's why you've never seen me post there. ;) It works for me and others.

Never? You should look again.

Just wanted to point out three more instances in the last half hour in which you expressed a differing opinion.

Differing opinions are a good thing, JR...only yanking your chain a bit. :)

See the question mark? That's a clue. Also the context of the quote I was responding to will help.

Sorry forgot to add my IT'S A FRIGGIN JOKE line to the end of that one too. I figured most could see that. Sorry, I was incorrect and shall try better on the next go round. I'll append that shortly.

Actually, I recall "liking" your posts when I actually like them, as I do with others here who I might otherwise routinely disagree with. Maybe it is YOU who is not paying attention.

And despite appearances, I don't read everything that is posted at CFF and I deliberately miss a lot of the slugfests because I'm either not interested enough to brawl over the topic, or often if it is you squared off against the world bravely defending your contrarian position. Yawn.

Interesting thread. I don't see the forum going in a bad direction but...I have learned from being around awhile that there are certain threads that I probably don't want to be involved with....so I skip them. And I have learned that some folks like to be contrary, which is fine....up until the point where they get their feelings hurt because they are called out for being contrary.

You have the freedom to read or not read threads. You have the freedom to comment or not comment on threads. You have the freedom to stay or not to stay.

Now to paraphrase @BurnedOutGeek : THIS IS NOT A FRIGGIN JOKE!

A perfect example of what I was trying to say above.

You're the one that said "ALWAYS", Don't call me out for taking you at your word.

Some of my bullets call some of your bullets names. Very hurtful names. Yet, they are only threats to those who would threaten them.
