Five year warranty... I've had it for 5 years and 3 months...

I thought the first battery had finally died. Put a fresh cell in it. Nothing... Very disappointed. I'll call trijicon tomorrow morning and see if they stand behind the product or not...

Details to follow

Damn. Would be a who hair out of warranty. Hope they do something for ya

Yea they will absolutely take care of you. Also, try a different cell just so you know for sure you didn't get a bad battery. I'd hate for you to waste money shipping it back only to get that phone call!

I did. And used the battery to power up another optic

So I got instructions to send it in... For a fucking repair quote... In 8 weeks.

I'm having serious doubts about them taking care of me but I have little to lose but a little shipping money...

I shipped in a reflex sight 5 years ago expecting to pay about 200.00 to have the fiber optic and tritium replaced. I was not the original owner and it was over 10 years old/out of warranty.

About 3 weeks went by and I called to check on it. They told me it was finished and would be shipped out the next day. I asked them how much I owed them and they said nothing. It was covered under warranty.

Even though it was well outside the warranty

I had the same experience. I had an acog I bought 4th hand probably and the prism had an issue. They replaced it not questions asked for free.

Man, I got the same thing on my RMR, and I had it back, repaired, for free, in about 4 weeks. They will take care of it. My RMR is an older type 1, and they didn't question a thing.

Colt does the same thing. They reserve judgment till they get it, but then take care if it. Like an insurance company not promising squat till they review the claim.

I sent in a TR24 that the tritium was fading on. I sent the scope to them paid a small refurb fee and got back a scope that looked brand new in the box and not the scratched up beat down scope I sent in. I may have gotten lucky but they were super easy to deal with.

Yup my experience is the same as others. Sent in a type 1 RMR and got the “repair quote” email. They upgraded it for free, it will take awhile to get it back though,

UPDATE: I woke up to a notice that I had 72 hours to reply to a repair quote. I pulled up the quote and it was for $300 to basically gut and refurbish an optic that had just been out of warranty when it failed. They didn't really evaluate anything the quote even included replacing the lenses. I only paid $400 for the optic new. So obviously I was a little pissed when I called...

However, after talking to a lady named Chris for a few minutes she agreed with me that it was ridiculous and said don't worry about it she would take care of it and they would replace the optic. So it sounds like they are going to stand behind their product. What started out to be a s*** conversation took a turn for the good for a change. Not excited about how they went about it initially, but if they're going to make good on it then I can't be upset about it.

I'll update as they follow through

Just sent an RMR in last week due to some weirdness with the glass. No idea what to expect, but hopefully my experience is smooth as well. 😬

I’m pretty sure they will replace it.
I’d be very surprised if they didn’t take care of you.

not that it excuses it but the RMA department just sends through the cost and im sure its all automated somewhere. Chris is also who replaced mine without any issue.

Brand new Energizer Lithium 2032...
Suggest switching to Duracell, especially for RMRs. Duracell has better Q/C on the size of the battery. Many RMR (especially type 1) issues are caused by Energizer or no-name knock-offs fitting loosely and not making firm contact with the battery holders.

So I got back in town and picked up the package they sent... Not the box I sent but it's my optic... Or at least the body of my optic. Based on the paperwork, they literally replaced every part except the housing. I turned it on and it fired right up. Time will tell how it holds up but they made good in my book...

Well looks like I may need to call Chris. Went to change the battery on my MRO today and nothing, it’s completely dead.

what serial numbers are you guys working with?
I was doing some reading about the updates at 80,000

Not sure. I want to say 38k or something? I'd had it for just over the 5 years of the warranty. I'd check but I'm a couple thousand miles away.. 😬

Going through a very similar situation right now. Got an email yesterday saying that my MRO was being send back to me with no work done since they couldn’t contact me. When I scrolled down through that email I could see a couple other emails trying to contact me, but I never received them for whatever reason, and trust me, that’s an email I’ve been on the lookout for. They also said They tried calling me, but they didn’t leave a voicemail so I had no idea it was them. They did attach an invoice for repair and quoted me at a “discounted” price of $187 to do the repairs…..

They were closed by the time I saw the email yesterday so I was able to get someone on the phone this morning and basically told me the same thing as in the email and warranty is only 5yrs for electronics, even tried to say how good of a discount I was getting since the repair should have been $300. Then she tells me if I disagree I could “make my case to her” and she would bring it up with management.. So what told her is that I buy Trijicon because of they reputation and quality, but that if I could expect to be SOL after 5yrs then I would be switching to another company that actually stands behind their products and this would be the last time I ever do business with them.

She said she would go talk with her manager and call me back “soon”. Hopefully I can report back with some good news, but needless to say, I am less than pleased with Trijicon right now. I think no matter how they handle it, I’ll likely never buy another Trijicon product again. Which sucks because I want an SRO, but if I have to jump through all these hoops to get something fixed, then it’s not even worth it.

Oofff...
I wanted an SRO, I think I’ll stick with my lifetime warranty Leupold DPP.

There’s an upside, someone’s getting a bonus seafood dinner.

Yep that is the thing that pissed me off about some of the high end optics, they have a very short warranty and hit you twice, one when you buy and 2nd when it needs repaired.

I have a few Leopold RDO just because it is lifetime warranty and also Vortex. Yep cheap vortex RD and they have kept running. But also have great warranty if needed.

Wow. I expected better from them. Not that I’m a big source of their income, but what few thousands of dollars have spent with them is important to me. Looks like I may have to take my business elsewhere.

Well, looks like they are going to take care of it for me. Just got this message from them.

Good Morning Derek,

My manager has approved to repair your MRO as a Non-Warranty No Charge One-Time Courtesy. Thank you for your patronage and have a wonderful week.

Take Care,

Will you buy from them again?

I’m probably not likely to buy anything else from them, and I was already feeling that way prior to this. They did do right by me, but I honestly I don’t think they’re really innovating and there are a lot of other companies making as good or better for less money and with much better warranties.
