Hi friends!
I've been wanting to buy a full size 1911 for a long time. I used to own a full size Sig but I traded it away because, at the time, I told myself that 1911s "aren't my thing". But ever since that day, I've been trying to fill the 1911 void.
So, off and on, for the last 2 years I've been looking for a full size replacement... But, I didn't just want another 1911. I wanted a better one... I wanted something with a longer barrel. I wanted something with more bells and whistles. And, I have been thinking I'd like to try out 10mm.
Yesterday, a buddy asked me if I'd like to go with him to check out a gun store that I've never been to before.
So, this is where today's story begins... When we arrived, I had a pocket full of cash I've been saving, and I went straight to the 1911 case. I held and dry fired Colts, Kimbers, Sigs, Rock Islands, and one Remington... Some were single stack, double stack, 9mm, .45, 10mm, 6 inch barrel, 5 inch barrel, railed, not railed. They all felt fine, but none of them excited me; until the guy said, "Oh yeah, I've got a used TRP down here, I think. "
He came walking back with this "used" Springfield TRP Operator in 10mm with a six inch barrel, rail, range bag, box, accessories, manual, adjustable night sights, and three mags (two Springfield and one Wilson Combat).
As soon as I saw it I knew it was the one I had always wanted.
Price tag said "Used - $1350 plus tax"
I asked him for the "best" price he could do... The manager said I could have it for $1300, out the door, not tax. I told him, "If you throw in a box of ammo it's a deal."
I gave them $1300 and walked out with all this. Did I do good?
