to everything this twink said, i respond with "yeah, and?"

Related: i'm super tired of the CYA wording from the news. I understand they don't want to get sued for slander/libel... but COME ON. The other day I heard about how the shooter is "believed to be the man who allegedly killed 18 people..."
no
there's no allegation about the killing. it happened. Saying he's believed to be the man is all the CYA that is needed.

ā€œThe family and Robert, they're all gun fanatics," Kent explained, according to NBC News.

They forgot to mention that 48% of Maine adults are gun owners (therefore, fanatics?).

I'm waiting for them to say he had an arsenal.
Yep. The media says "arsenal". I say "range bag".
Not defending the shooter in any shape, form, or fashion. Just sick of media sensationalizing a tragedy to sell advertising.

They are Pravda, parroting for "Our Democracy". A nonexistent construct of the Left.
Anyone who can still believe otherwise is willfully ignorant. Unfortunately they are legion.

Realistically, what can the police do? Do we want them hauling off someone's guns because he shot his mouth off? I don't think so; if that was allowed to happen, half the posters on internet would be disarmed, including some on here. Besides, it's easy enough to get another gun if one is determined to go postal. It's a fine line and I don't know where it should be drawn ā€“ but red (or yellow) flag laws are not the answer. Prepared citizens would be one solution, but that seems unlikely.

Sane old excuses, we can't locate the individual, routine notification, we sent it out, etc etc.
Tell that to the families of the deceased and wounded.
He should have been held in hospital for mental evaluation in Maine.

The conspiracy theory side in me thinks these "known people" are let be in the hopes they go on do things like this. Then the "gun control push" is renewed.
I see no other explanation except one.
The LEOs are inept.

These are not mutually exclusive options....

Slight rant...there are serious things we can do to reduce crap like this, but there is nothing at all, ever, that will completely rid evil of the world. Problem is, those on the left dont seriously want to solve anything. Exactly like the lady in the clip above said, its because "they dont like us therefore dont want to listen to us". Its simple.

Gun free zones: "We should harden targets." "So, the answer is more guns? NOOO!"
School shootings: "We should protect schools like we do banks." "NOO! Kids shouldnt have to put up with that."
Repeat criminals: "We should prosecute criminals harshly." "NOOO! That is systemic racism!"
Cartel infiltration: "We should stop the flow of illegals from crossing the border." "NOOO! That is bigoted racism against brown people!"
Gang Violence: "We should concentrate gun control efforts on the perpetrators in actual areas where the violence is occuring, not to people who have nothing to do with it." "You hate black people!"
Illegal transfers: "We should prosecute crimes committed with firearms harshly so that the legality rests on the perpetrator, not an inanimate object." "So you want to give everyone a gun! You nutjob!"

I could go on and on. When there is a problem with something, you go to a subject matter expert. When we are sick, we go to a doctor. When it is cancer, we go to an oncologist. When we are trying to sell products, we hire marketing experts. When we are fielding a sports team we hire talented agents. But when it comes to "gun laws" we rely on the most ignorant and moronic group of people who have zero actual knowledge of firearms to pass legislation that is either completely ineffective or absolutely unenforceable. And then when something goes wrong, the blame rests on the shoulders of innocent citizens and the politicians wring their hands and cry "At least we tried something! We need to legislate even harder!"

That's a feature. All the people who can actually fix the problem by "doing something" means (A) they'd have to admit they were wrong for decades and decades, and (B) they'd have one less thing to distract the masses with around election time.
They know the problem. They know the fix. But useful idiots need a cause.

Thomas Sowell's conflict of visions. Not going to claim expertise on it but the TLDR version is this.

The left thinks man is perfectible given the right laws, leadership, social manipulation, and spend enough money.
The right thinks man might be manageable, but is not perfectible. That some laws might help, some actions can be taken to manage things, but you cannot fix or stop everything. You live within that framework the best you can.

And that boils down almost all of the conflict between the left and right in these hot button issues.

He was found dead by a dumpster at his old workā€¦.dont you think in the last 2 days they have checked there numerous times and should be surveying it at fairly regular times along with other important locations.
Nope. He actually came to work both days and clocked in and out after a full shift both days and got depressed that still nobody notices him even after what he did and the FBI looking for him because he was that invisible and unnoticed. So he went to the dumpster and shot himself twice in the back of the head with a 18" barrel length AR-15. Because he didn't turn off the extremely extra dangerous night vision optic during the day time, he missed the fatal parts of his head with the first shot so he had to turn the night vision off so he can get a clear shot of the back of his own head. (Major sarcasm because this guy is a POS that doesn't deserve sympathy. He knew right from wrong and it's easy to see because if he thought it was okay to do what he did he would not have ran away and left and suicide note to his son telling him he's sorry. I understand mentally ill people sometimes don't understand right from wrong. But there's different levels and types of mental illness and this guy knew what he was doing. But I also blame the military doctors and psychologist that evaluated him multiple times. I don't know how he was still in the military reserves after the voices and mental health problems. This guy was clearly a section 8 discharge and I don't know how or why they let him stay in the military with mental health problems like hearing voices and everything. How would you like to have to be in combat with this guy and his passenger he has in his head having your back? He will have your six alright, the barrel six inches from the back of your head with his crazy way of thinking.

Another shooter leaves a note and kills himself. Becoming a habit for shooters to kill themselves. Is it possible for a witness ( not crisis actors ) to be interviewed ? How about interviewing the Drs that treated the wounded ? And killed ? How about an interview with a FR ? A LEO that responded to the ā€œsceneā€ any photos available other than grainy flip phone images ? How about the reports a hospital must submit of shooting injuries ? Is that available ? What about the funerals ? Any coverage there ? What about interviews with this shooters family , employer, friends etc. any cell phone footage existing from witnesses ? Surely in this selfie and image everything and it too , we have cell phone pics or vids ? Does anyone know anyone who was personally involved ? I have family in lewiston. The fishers. Im not denying anything but before I readily believe anything ā€œtheyā€ put out with their Madea ( the goddess of truth and lies) someone has to show me the money. If all that was reported ( that aint much) is true than mercy for those that suffered. Is it wrong to desire more information than that which is shown on a scrying mirror and spewed forth by admitted ā€œ presentersā€ and not reporters. Just questions that I have about most of these multiple shootings by suicide intent nutjobs that nobody knows or knew. No history is ever reported on the shooter and only generic info is brought to bear on anything. Too much information might lead one to discover the truth. Just curious. I am not denying the maine shooting nor am I denying any other Madea reported shooting. Im just looking for more info to satisfy my own curiosity

Funny how when we were younger, the Leftā€™s mantra was always ā€œYou canā€™t legislate morality!ā€ when it was about abortion, sex, song lyrics, etc.
