Weekly snake thread

One of the two of us would kill you.
I understand the sentiment. I'd probably lose my bowels, then have cardiac arrest. If I survived that, yes, murder would be a consideration.

Finally got to meet one of the little fellas that have been leaving skins in my building, I walked right up on him. (Didn't scare me though, I had to use the bathroom anyway)
He just posed for the picture while I turned on the lights and didn't move until after I left.

Killed this little fella today at the garage edge. He did not approve of my methods.

Wife and I got home from a date night a while back. She walked up the the door and tou he'd the door ha dle before seeing it. She was startled to say the least. It was very stubborn to leave. Finally flung it off the front steps into the side garden. After getting back from taking my neice home from babysitting, saw it above the window to the left of the door out stretched searching. Figured out it was looking for the bird nest in the hanging fern. Left it alone, dont know if it found the baby birds or not. 20230713_215218.jpg

My son in NY found this little guy while hiking today

Guy in my unit was from Lake George area of NY, home on leave with him and saw the biggest rattler I think i have seen pictures or vids of laid up on top of a log skidder hydro tank on a cool morning. Body was thick as your forearm and head big as a mans hand.

As I understand, NY's three venomous snakes are pretty rare to see in the wild.

Except in the Souther Tier, the area along the Chemung River by Big Flats, NY. There, the Timbers are numerous. During Hurricane Andrew the floods washed the rattlers downstream into the cities. It was a PITA to clear them out.

His family is in the logging business and at that time he told me they are there if you know where to look. He did say the most venomous ones were in the Capital, Albany and in NYC they have 2 legs and shoulders though.

Found a little Ringneck yesterday under some stuff in the yard, beautiful little snake. Picked him up to get a better pic, he got out of my hand and into the safety of tall grass while I was fumbling with my phone.

And another of my common finds here, a little Brown.

i wanna say copperhead, but probably a ratsnake or something
looks chilly and half blind from being ready to shed

If you're asking what species it is? It is a cotton mouth water moccasin. Venomous. Size wise it is hard to tell without anything to gauge in relation to. If that is a tread in the top of the top, he's about medium size.
Correct…cottonmouth…he was about 18in long, just a little angry guy.
