No answer to your question but now I'm looking forward to my trip to our MD office in a couple of weeks.

Told the manager there that the only reason I go there is to get crab cakes.

Fried shrimp with slaw, fries and a coke. 2nd would be Big Oak Drive In & BBQ for the same but they're always closed on Monday's when I'm down that way.
El’s is iconic! I generally get the shrimp burger, on my way out of town, after a day of fishing. Can make a mess at times with shrimp falling out, but worth it! The lady carhops at El’s probably have a world record number of steps every day. They hustle for sure!

I love a flounder Po boy or shrimp po boy. Out of the options I picked crab cake sandwich. Although I saw a woman taking a crap in an abandoned parking lot next to the market with tin foil on her head; I still have dreams thinking about that faidleys crab cake in Baltimore. It's a life changing experience.

Id recommend carrying a gun or a large knife if you go make sure to leave before the sun goes down. But wow is it amazing. Adam Richmond said it was the best sandwich in Maryland and one of the best in the south east. I had what he considered the best and in my opinion it's number 2 after faidleys.

Nothing better than a proper Chesapeake Bay blue crab crabcake and a Natty Bo. I love them all but if I could only have one for the rest of my life it would be a Chesapeake Bay Blue Crab Cake Sandwich. NC blue crabs are not the same. This is how I would rank them.

Crab Cake Sandwich

Oyster PoBoy

Soft Shell Crab Sandwich

Lobsta Roll

Fish Sandwich

Shrimp Burger

Bingo! Both are great! love El’s! The folks around Morehead City / Beaufort NC like to top the shrimp burgers with ketchup. I ask them to hold the ketchup and replace with cocktail sauce. Ever tried a shrimp burger from The Spot Grill in Beaufort, it’s off 70, just outside of Beaufort… heading towards Harkers Island?
Shh.....the first rule of The Spot is:

You don't talk about The Spot

I selected lobsta but they are not fish…

lobster is a sea spider or sea rat not a fish…
neither is shrimp or crab a fish…
there has to be something fishy about this thread

OH wait it says seafood so everything is good..

Sounds like a summertime special!

When you said fried catfish.. reminded me of years back. We would go to a turkey shoot near 42 and Old Stage Rd (Hop’s turkey shoot for those of you who know). There was a farmer that lived nearby. He would go fishing and bring fresh caught and filleted catfish. He would roll in, toss several fresh loaves of wonder bread on the table, bang down a cast iron pan that was big enough to fit the top of a 55 gallon burning barrel, toss in some lard, bread ‘em up and start to frying. Holy shite!!!!
So good stuffed in that fresh bread. He would do the same with fresh sausage he would make during hog killin time (only addition was a fat bottle of yellow mustard to add to the bread / sausage. Takes me back!!

If you have never had a Grouper Salad Sandwich from Provision Company in Southport, NC, you need to correct that before you die.

Also, a Shrimp Po' Boy from Red's Ice House on Shem Creek in Mt Pleasant, SC is a wonderful thing, too.

Grouper but flounder with cole slaw and pickles are right there with it!

I voted for the fish sandwich. But, Beaches at Villanova have the best fish tacos.
