A 25 year old scotch, yes please. Cheers!
The four grain was AMAZING! Depth of flavor for days. For a bourbon, the flavor just lingered and evolved,View attachment 54365
Pumped about these! Been trying to get the four grain forever! A 25 year old scotch, yes please. Cheers!
Well, I am off on Sundays and Mondays so today is "my Saturday".
I kinda feel lost when warm weather gets here.
When it is cold outside, I know exactly what I want. Strong hot bourbons and strong peaty scotches.
Summer, not so much. So I kinda aimlessly "wander around" as far as brands and flavors.
I've been wanting to try some Japanese whiskeys since they have been buying up so many of our stateside distilleries. I figured I'd start at the "bottom" and work my way up. This Suntory ain't bad. A little light for my taste. In color and proof. All in all I'll probably keep some around for summer time or casual drinks with acquaintances (not friends).
They now sell the Leadslingers line in North Carolina. Even though it is Matt Best's branding, the distillery is actually in Oklahoma and goes by Scissortail Distillery. I've read a couple of articles about Scissortail and they seem like a cool outfit.
I've had the Leadslingers rum and I LOVE it! But how hard is it to make a decent rum?
I've had the Leadslingers rye whiskey and I hate it. But to be fair I hate most rye whiskeys. But it has an M1 Garand on the bottle so I'll keep one on the shelf for good measure.
This is the first time I have tried their flagship offering. Once again I will probably always try to keep a bottle on hand because I like the label and the thought behind it. As a fan of bourbon, I must say, I absolutely hate it. It should not be allowed to label itself a bourbon. If you are not a fan of good bourbons, and just want something to catch a buzz off of, it's still good to go. Better than Jim Beam. Barely. And that is disappointing. But, my hope is that one day they release one with an age statement that is pretty good. But they are a young outfit. I am not holding my breath. This is whiskey. If it was mixed with a soda it would be ok. Cheerwine can fix anything. It's the bacon of the soda world.
Even the rooster was talking junk about it.

Good luck finding it! I’ve seen people asking for $450.00 a bottle on the web. My contact said she couldn’t get any more. That EH is right at top of my list. Enjoy!

Very jealous! Wife and daughter were in San Diego and had it as well. Said it was excellent. As good as it is in a bottle, I can imagine a fresh draft would be spectacular!!Was in San Diego area this past weekend. Pliny the Elder on draft. We had many of them ......

Did you meet any color brave baristas?
I may loose some man points for this one.
But.
I have mentioned before that I flounder around a little lost in the summer not sure what to drink. Winter is easy. Very strong bourbon or peaty scotches.
When it's hot, takes me to long to recover from my manly pursuits.
@rantingredneck traded me a bottle of this Balvenie Caribbean Cask Scotch. Drank some last weekend. Seems like a lighter "summer fare".
Well this evening, not only did I put it on ice, I started chasing it with some Dad's Old Fashioned Cream Soda that @mj1angier had dropped off here a few months ago.
Holy crap! I love this combo!

Guess I lost my man card long sgo. I always drink bourbon and whiskey on ice. Even in winter. I just like cold beers and cold booze. Don't really drink coffee or any warm drinks.
