I have been extremely busy on other projects that has taken me away from loading the last few weeks. I have a lot of projects to continue in the near future. I still have to load some on the shelf ammo for some of the big bores, I still have 500 or more Lehigh Extreme Penetrators to load in 9mm, have to try out my new size die in 9mm as well, then I have another 500 or more Lehigh Extreme Penetrators to load in 45 ACP at some point as well.
Last week Layne Simpson touched base and wants to do some of the B&Ms in his Cartridge article for HandLoader Magazine. At first he wanted to do 475 B&M, 9.3 B&M and 500 MDM. I nixed the 475 in favor of the 458, he went along with that. I am not a fan of the 475 B&M, its a troublesome cartridge, and I really should take it out of the group. I have just been lazy and have not updated the website in a couple of years now. Then as I started getting dummy rounds loaded, selected load data, and other things for him, he decided that 416 B&M would be nice too. So last week I spent my spare time getting a package ready to send to Layne for the various articles. I finally got everything put together yesterday and boxed up going out today if Fed Ex picks it up!
HandLoader magazine was always my favorite gun rag, however probably about 8-10 years ago I let most of my subscriptions to all gun rags go. I got sick of the same old same, and how many articles can you read about loading 9mm or 45 ACP, or how many articles can you read 308 vs 30/06 and crap junk like that, over and over and over. My interests run much deeper than that sort of same old same. I am life member of Safari Club and DSC as well, their magazines are even worse, have some chap talk about hunting something or other, and not a damn word about the rifle, cartridge or the bullet! I don't give a rats A$s about hearing about the hunt, I want info on rifle, cartridge and bullet, and most of these numbn$ts don't have a clue. Great White hunters. So, anyway, those things find the trash and don't even get opened. Need to stop them from sending. I had a friend that used to write some articles for Safari Magazine, he would turn them in, then they would get back and tell him to re-write so it sounded more dangerous............. No thanks.............
Anyway I like Layne and most of his articles, I know he is a straight shooter no doubt and does a good job with most of his stuff. He says that 500 MDM is slated to be in HandLoader #333. #331 has just been published. I suppose I will have to find a copy for the files........ LOL...........
Here are some of the Sample rounds and bullets I sent for the 500 MDM.........
Maybe now I can get back on some of those real loading projects...............
