What the hell is canned "Bulk Sausage"??

Fry it in a pan then make gravy then mix the two together, it's pretty good that way
Taste like Mickey Ds gravy

This guys video was pretty informative and funny.

He tried the Beverly and another brand called banner. I think I’ll try the banner. lol.

50+ years ago when I was a Boy Scout we ate bunch of this exact brand, probably because it required no refrigeration on a camping trip. I remember thinking it was pretty good stuff.

Then, after being a Scout for a while and earning some rank and seniority it was my turn to do the shopping for the next camping trip. I remember being in the grocery store, loading cans of sausage into the shopping cart and for some reason I stopped to read the ingredients. I was very surprised and disappointed. And I don't think I ever ate any of it again, ever.

All I can remember in Troop 55, was big pots of Dinty More Beef Stew at night, and four foot grease fires cooking a whole pack of bacon in the morning. Oh, and cauterized eggs burned in the same skillet afterwards.

That's cheating.
That’s smart.

I watched the video. That 1889 can you opened is not the same color as cured meat. No smell when you cook it. Right?

It’s mystery meat.

You’ll want to try the rest of their delicious products.

Mock turtle soup, pork brains, beef tripe…
I actually like the "Patterson's Sausage Gravy." Goes great on some fresh biscuits. I've also had the Patterson's Hot Dog Chili and seem to remember it being pretty good.

But now I wonder what's really in it. 😳

Doesn’t look quite as creepy as some of the others. Although, I’m not a chemist.

My mom made that every once in a while while when I was a kid. If you put the eggs in right off the bat they cook too fast and you wind up with the mushy stuff. She cooked it by itself awhile to cook the water out. Then add two eggs toward the end with a little butter. It is more like crumbled up sausage at that point. Decent, but not as good as regular sausage. It does store for a long time compared refrigerated sausage.

I keep a few sealed 5 gal buckets of canned meats to go with my freeze dried and other carbs I have stocked in the basement. I basically grab everything in the canned meat/fish isle and I got a few of these. I try everything once and had the same reaction to this stuff. I threw the unopened ones in pails anyway, I figure it's better than nothing if it ever comes to that. Will not buy again. Do not recommend.

That would be good for beach trips.
Bunch of dunes to crap in after you eat it.

Would not want to try it in a deer stand.

I am generally new to this message board, but after lurking awhile, something about, ummm..... well, there was some sort of, ummm, quality, that I couldn't put my finger on, uh some je ne sais quoi I guess you could say, that encouraged me to join.

I just read this thread from start to finish, and it dawned on me what that quality was.

Ya'll a bunch of sick puppies.

Each and every one.

Well, let's kick it up a notch.

The "sausage" re-appeared this morning and it weren't good. My experience was similar to what Chad went thru last night prepping for his "Turking" this morning.

Now I need to run to the pet store for one of these:

I'm gonna need it to fish my butthole back out of the toilet.

Why bother, you've got cans of butt hole material. Just make a new one.

Just canned offal (pronounced "awful", which it is) with preservatives. My mother, having grown up poor on a farm in eastern NC, was very much a snoot-to-toot person and would cook any part of a pig, goat, or cow. I grew up eating offal and hated it then, very much so. I don't think I could eat it now.
