I'll grant Tropic Thunder as an exception...though I think it could have been better if it would have been Les Grossman who stepped on the land mine instead of Damien Cockburn.

Can’t wait! Watched that video earlier today. The training they went through looked pretty cool. It’s so awesome they got that much time in the jets.
 
Doesn’t matter if she’s in a flight suit with her hair pulled back, or all dressed up for an interview…she’s not yet than a $2 pistol.

 
Check out Ward Carroll's youtube channel. He was an RIO in F14s and has gotten a sneak preview of the movie and says it is a worthy successor. But before that he commented on the latest trailer showing the F14 dogfighting an SU57 Felon, which is Russia's premier stealth fighter. Talk about a David and Goliath match up. I guess once you're in visual range though stealth doesn't help much.

This is his take after he saw the latest trailer but before he saw the film:

For me, it’s because I’m pretty picky about where I sit. I can cancel at any time up until the movie starts, so I’m not out any money. I’ll buy Jurassic World: Dominion and Thor: Love and Thunder tickets ahead of time as well.

I don’t go to the movies very often anymore, but those three are all coming out in about a 6-week span, and I want to see them in the theater.

I definitely want to see Thor (my fave Marvel franchise). Taking wife to see Downton Abby opening night next Friday. I like it well enough but she loves it.

I remember, and I am sure you do, too, when opening nights were absolutely packed, but I have not seen that in years. Maybe it's just the theater we normally go to.

I haven’t gone to a movie on opening night in 10+ years other than the last three Star Wars movies. That’s because the wife wanted to be there for those…if it’s something I want to see I just wait. I tend to go when AMC has cheaper tickets, which is either earlier in the day, or they used to do it on Tuesdays (not sure if they still do or not).
 
Anyone seen it? The general consensus is it is really good bordering on excellent?
 
No spoilers included…just the first minute or so with some background music and the title screen (at least until YT takes it down). It was enough to get the adrenaline going.

I saw it Friday and thought it was very good, better than I expected, and I am no Cruise fanboy. It wasn't that crowded because the they had it playing in at least 4 theaters, starting every half hour.
 
Just got back from seeing it.

Fan-fricking-tastic.

Just enough homage to the original.

Best scene:
Buzzing the tower in the Tomcat. If they put a cup of coffee in John Hamm’s hand and he spilled it all over himself it would have been movie gold!

I half-cheered, half-laughed when that happened. Totally unexpected.
