Thanks for all the JIT talks,

Maybe JIT with a supply chain that is closer to home. Or at least more reliable and politically aligned with the US.

I had a rare opportunity to understand the unintended consequences of JIT manufacturing. In another life, I supplied cut leather components that went onto the steering wheels of some BMWs. During a meeting with the corporate leather buyer, he offered me a behind-the-scenes tour of BMWās largest factory (Dingolfing, NE of Munich). At the very end of the line, I noticed a stack of plastic chair seats (exactly like the photo below except without the metal bases).I used to live in KY where the put together automotive parts for Toyota and the finished part that left the line in the morning was going into a new Camry later that day. The components for those parts came in in the same manner. I witnessed the same thing at the BMW plant in Spartansburg/Greenville.

Asking about their purpose, the buyer explained that sometimes their JIT supplier of the driverās seat would be late. There was no possibility to move the otherwise finished car off the line other than driving it. On those occasions, they would put that plastic chair seat/back on the floor so the car could be moved out of the building. I donāt remember the numbers but he explained that, if a supplier caused the line to stop, they were fined some unbelievable amount of money PER MINUTE (the number $18,000 comes to mind).

I feel your pain brotherIf you had to tote these and some others onto and off of a truck, you'd have some panic.

Yes I did! It got to a point when safety was an issue and both my brother and I did some explaining as to avoid self injury. One funny point was a guy who had just put 2 or 3 mags out of a short AR and then immediately picked up the plastic bag he just pulled off it from the thing from the original box and I warned him to let it cool before he put the bag on. He didn't!Did you offer to help?
Is that better?Oops, screwed up quotes ^^^^^!
I placed a small order of a few random things (ie not 9mm or 556) at Outdoor Limited this morning, and it filled and shipped today.
Perhaps the panic is slowing down? They have ammo, and apparently can ship, but maybe no one wants to pay the extra 100% vs. what it cost a few weeks ago? Or everyone is out of money? Or the .gov is destroying the economy and currency so fast that the USD is worth half of what it was before so this is the new price going forward even when supplies are available? Or the lack of cheap steel case ammo has removed the low price floor?
Or it's late, and I should just go to bed.
I would imagine that places like OL who normally ship pretty fast are still able to ship what they have in stock pretty quick. Iāve appreciated their āreal timeā stock amounts and have snatched up the last few boxes on some good deals.

looks like it worked as it should. outer box got wet, inner boxes were wrapped with cellophane so they wouldn't fall apart.

I have not seen a good deal on OLs site for 30+ days. They were one of the first to jack up pricing. The 45 ACP I mentioned earlier is the closest I have seen to a normal price.
So did I when this happened [emoji848]But I photographed the box before opening it.
Ok

What deals have you gotten there. They got crushed. They have Magtech for $289 which is about $100 more than it was 30 days ago. That ammo was selling for $9.99 a box everywhere before. I feel for them. I was buying from them pretty regularly but then everything went up 50-65% overnight. Ammo might be flowing back into him but his pricing is now horrible.

WWB is selling for $329+ shipping that is $129 more than Academy and Bass Pro.

I guess I took this statement to mean recently.... My point is that they went from a solid low priced vendor to one of the most overpriced literally overnight. Whatever not really worried about it. I used to buy from him because he was in NC even if he was a little higher than national vendors but I am disappointed by the level of his price increases. Hopefully they will come back to earth at some point.
