See, this is something that's been on my mind. All the hot shot tactical "operator" trainers are pitching to fit young men. Where are the self-defense trainers for old guys with bad shoulders, bifocals, arthritis and gimpy knees? They're the ones who need it!

I have recently reached "an age" where my eyesight has noticably changed in the last 15 months or so. I cant see the front sight clearly with corrected vision, let alone with out my glasses or contacts. I have shot the Wizard from pocket draw with a Sig P938 several times at Billy's. I can do the first 3 shots no problem. I usually make the first long shot and either miss the second shot, or I run out of time. I just dont have the visually crisp front sight to complete the task on demand. This has led me to think about some new issues I have to overcome and I have not had to deal with before.

Wow! Just because you think something is stupid doesn't actually mean it IS. There might be situations in which you can't see well and have to shoot, don't you think?
It may be stupid to some but I agree with you that point and shoot has its place. Thats how I've been pretty much practicing this last year out to 15 yards. Having cateracts on both eyes makes it impossible to use sights with both eyes. Was using non dominant eye to get by for awhile but vision now makes point and shoot only option and I can still hit what I'm pointing at.

Was planning on eye surgery last year but a stroke put that in hold. Drs have finally decided cateract surgery can be done since other healths issues are in check. Surgery is scheduled in 2 weeks and other eye three weeks later.

Can't wait so I can get back to working on grouping and distance shooting again. Point of this post is never discredit other styles of shooting or training because you never know when something may happen that forces you to change you presentation and follow thru.

Point shooting definitely has its place. Years ago, I practiced it regularly and got where I could walk a can from 3 to 15 yards without using the sights and rarely missing. Sometimes could even get to 25 yards with it, but not consistently.

Watching the video and reading this thread makes me realize I need to practice that again. My carry gun has changed since then and I haven’t practiced point shooting in years, other than occasionally testing myself hitting center of mass on a silhouette at 5-7 yards.
