Let's get a canik thread going. There may already be one, if so I missed it. If you have a Canik or are looking to get one we can list pros and cons, mods including, lights, holsters, optics, or anything else. Good experiences or bad? I personally now own two and can honestly say I will probably only ever own one glock after purchasing one of these.

I have an SFX and now an Elite SC. SFX has a Vortex Venom and I am currently leaning towards a holosun 507k x2 for the Elite SC. Also tried an Olight mini 2 Valkyrie. Haven't played with it much but thinking about trying something else. Looking for holster options for each to have alternatives.

Shot my first Canik sometime last year when my uncle bought the TP9 elite. I was instantly impressed with the trigger and I think it’s one of if not the best tiggers in a striker fired gun I’ve ever shot. I just bought my first one a few months back, a Rival, and really like it so far. Topped it off with the new micro red dot from Primary Arms and I hope to start shooting some pistol comps with it when the weather cools down a bit.

You’re getting a lot of gun for the money with these and IMO, they are going to up the price once people start to catch on to how awesome these things are. Mags are a little on the high side and not as plentiful, but no more really than Sig or FN. Holster options are also a little difficult, but I expect more companies to start producing as they gain popularity.

Mags are a little pricey but I think for what you are getting out of the box you just bite the bullet and get whatever you need in accessories. I do agree however that the price of these guns are going to go up and value for them will hold. They are getting more popular and prices seem to have already increased over the last year or two in stores

I tried a very early Canik model many years ago. I had the Walther P99AS and its partnership variations, the S&W SW99 and Magnum Research MR9, so I was curious about the Turkish clone. Bluntly, those first models had poor fit and finish and the triggers were horrible.

Canik has made huge improvements over the years. The last Caniks I handled had triggers that rivaled their Walther P99 and PPQ counterparts. The model line has been greatly expanded and now offers tremendous variety.

As previously noted, the value-to-price ratio is very favorable.

The triggers in these guns are why I switched from glock. Excellent value out of the box with a excellent trigger.

I own a sfx and a mete sf. Wife owns an elite sc.

I've ordered canik's aluminum trigger and magwell for the sfx.

Plan on getting an extended mag catch and aluminum trigger for my mete.

Wife doesn't want to mod hers.

With how good they are out of the box I don't see the need to do much else for them.

I picked up a Rival a few months back. Absolutely love the way the gun shoots. Not a single malfunction even running lightly loaded reloads. Haven't really done anything other than shoot it yet but a Delta Point Pro is the next thing on this list for it (and a good holster).

Rival Darksider here - favorite pistol out of all the pistols I own of any make/model. Best OEM striker trigger out there - even puts my PDP trigger to shame. Not just a great trigger for a striker gun, but a great trigger - period. Zero creep, crisp break at exactly 90 degrees, short reset. Factory match sights are outstanding with fiberoptic front and several different fiber colors provided with the included tool kit. Great texturing on both grip and frame. Full ambi controls if that's your bag. Accurate as hell, and my accuracy goes up the faster I shoot it. Fit and finish is excellent, zero slop anywhere I can feel, no rattles. Five frickin' optics plates including a cowitness plate.

Cons? I wish it was a little more front-heavy, and that there was more variation in the included back straps. Holster availability is nonexistent due to not interchanging with the TP9. Canik does not make it easy to find/buy their accessories. For example, the extended mag floor plates that come with the Rival for use with the flared magwell are not listed on their site, nor can I find a part number for them anywhere, and they don't come with any of the factory magazines.

If Canik made something the size of a P365XL with the Rival's trigger, my SIG and PDP compact would never see the light of day.

I MAY put a Holosun green dot on it, but am still undecided.

IMO, the best value out there right now in handguns. Something of that build quality, performance, and included accessories that's regularly available at $639? You can't touch that with a 20 foot pole.

Oh if Canik was able to make a single stack sub compact that had the reputation of all their best guns now for reliability, I genuinely think it would be the best carry gun on the market.

I have a METE SFX that I recently mounted a Holosun 407K-Gr on.THe gun shoots amazing ,especially for this 70 yr old guy. This is the first optic that I have on a handgun and I am still not sure if I prefer it over the iron sights.I am considering a FS trigger to get rid of some take up but I am going to shoot it some more first.

If you do end up swapping the trigger let me know! I know the take up on these triggers takes a little getting used to for some people but I don't mind it at all and have already gotten used to it.

I don't think you can go wrong with that optic on any subcompact with RMSC footprint. I'm probably going to put the green version on my P365XL and its big brother on my Darksider.

Was happy to confirm yesterday that Canik mags do fit in a PDP, it just wouldn't hold the slide open after the last round. Not sure if the inverse is true as I was putting the 18 rd Canik mags into the 15 round PDP compact.

I've been wanting to try a pdp. I love walthers grips. Just wish there was a way I could get canik mags in an AR9 so I wouldn't have to use glock mags....

My only complaint with the PDP is that in my hands it feels too light up front (maybe the full size feels a bit better). I really want a tungsten guide rod for it, but they've been out of stock since forever. That grip texture should come standard on every pistol.

I agree. Their grips are really nice. I put my hands on a HK model last week too and really liked it. I will have to remember the mag compatibility though. If a pdp ended up coming up for a great price that might would motivate me to give it a try.

Century Arms confirmed via e-mail this morning that their extended mag floor plates have no product code and are not available.

I bot both of mine when they were 300 and 400 dollars respectively. I INSTANTLY liked the triggers, and the slide (like a CZ the slide is INTERNAL to the frame). It may just be me -but it is not!- but I felt more accurate all the way around with this handgun.
I have a friend (I baptized him when he was 12 years old! lol) who just retired from Special Ops (green beret) after 20 years. He did two gigs in Iraq and two in Afghanistan, where is brother (also green beret) was killed. He used to come to Bragg frequently, and since he preferred home cooking and family to a hotel or barracks, he used to drive up to Durham and stay with us. I made him "pay for his keep" by taking me and Carole to the range and teaching us handgun stuff. Since for a few years he taught small arms to his noobies in SF, it was something he was very comfortable with. I wish I could say I really became better, but at least I learned all the things I was doing wrong!
Anyway, he had never seen a Canik, but instantly glommed on to mine. At the time I had maybe 20-25 different TYPES of handguns, from Smith to Ruger to Glock to Beretta to Sig... pretty much the gamut. He told me flat out "this is the best pistol you have. DO NOT get rid of it!"

When I bought my PDP, I held it side by side with a VP9 and was sold on the Walther.

I'd venture to say PPQ lovers will also love TP9's, and PDP lovers will also love Metes just by the overall design, dimensions, triggers, etc...

I keep telling people that they need to grab one while they can🤣 anyone that has picked mine up or shot it has been impressed. I'm a really big fan.

If I had to guess, the part is probably something they spec to Mec Gar when they order the rival mags, and Mec Gar are the ones who produce them.
So are the Mec Gar mags good to go? I’m always hesitant to buy non OEM mags, but if that’s are making Caniks mags for them then that would be a no brainer.

Has anyone tried the pro mags? I'm usually not a fan of non oem mags either but at their price point I would just about try one and see if they were reliable or not. I know they get a lot of mixed reviews.

I have 4 of the 32 round pro mags for my TP9SFX. I have only tried 1 of them and results were not impressive

Picked up a Rival Dark yesterday after fondling it at my LGS. Trigger is as good as my PDP and the pistol felt more solid and better weight (compared to my FS 4.5” PDP). Buddy bought a TP9SF and it feels more solid that my PDP but the trigger is not quite as good (but pretty close)

I havent had the chance to shoot a Rival yet but the original sfx shoots very well. I'm still thinking I may upgrade though..

I owned one several years ago and it was ok, but I didn’t keep it since there was no obvious improvement over VP9 or PPQ.

Can someone please give a quick guide on the variants?

SF
SFx
SA
METE
RIVAL
ETC?

significant functionality differences or cosmetic?

SFX is a model. It's a long slide. SF is a full size like a glock 17 size and it's just a model as well. METE is a line of several different pistols geared more towards a tactical/edc style from what I understand. The Rival is an upgraded SFX (the long slide) and pretty much looks to be a mix of all the things people asked for in several older models put together in one gun with a flashy look. The SA is an older model of the SF (the full size glock 17 size). I've tried to read up on the older models. I did not get into Caniks until their newer stuff had started coming out. All of their newer stuff seems to be pretty consistently reviewed as reliable with no issues. Just depends on what style of gun you want and what you want to use it for. Someone more educated could probably chime in.

The Rival was basically designed as a IDPA, IPSC, and USPSA legal match gun, optics ready and fits in the box. It has match sights, a match trigger, flared mag well, extended mag release, slide cocking handle, slide lightening cuts, and a different barrel than the other SFX guns. Internals are very similar to Walther PPQ/PDPs.

I've got the new Mete sfx with the mag well and 20rd mag that is my carry. Absolutely love everything about it.!!! Watched a review on "Warrior tribe tactical " , went into his store and bought the one he reviewed. He's a 23yr army sf vet and knows his way around tactical weapons, so I trust his opinion and he says if the prices don't strat climbing on these guns , he'd be shocked. I've been doing training with him and just amazed.

They are very impressive for the price!

Q - how short is the trigger reset on the Rival SFX?

I’m shooting a CZ TSO at present and passed on a Sig 320 Legion X-5 something or other because the reset was tooooo lonnnnnnng compared to the CZ … (I’d rather have a 8-lb press with a 1911-quick reset than a 2-lb press with a long reset ….)
