Did You Go Shooting Today

Shot a couple rounds of skeet yesterday morning. First I’ve shot in years and did pretty well. Only missed a double set from the low house side. Lost them in the sun. Was going to go pheasant hunting with some buddies in November out to Mitchell, SD but the wife has a doctors appointment atDuke for cancer checkup and I do t miss those! I came home early from Afghanistan in 2010 to go with her. She’s been cancer free since 2008.

Going today! I think this is the FIRST time ever going with one caliber. Really wanted to shoot some small primer pistols and rifles but limited with my supply of primers.
Today is going to be a 22 LR type of day. Taking a Savage Mk II, S&W AR-22 (can attached) and a Sig 1911-22 with a can.

Went to DPRC this morning. I shot my 9mm AR, and my 429 Desert Eagle.

I learned a valuable lesson with the 9mm AR. I had worked up loads for it that have been very accurate, but today the shots seemed to really scatter. I normally use a rifle rest, but I left that at home today so I used a backpack as a front rest. The barrel is free floated, so I did not think using a different rest would make a difference - in this case it really does. When I switched to holding the hand guard just in front of the receiver, and resting my hand on the backpack, the shots started grouping again. Go figure.

I had installed a Vortex Venom on my Desert Eagle 429 barrel and wanted to get it sighted in. I had it close to begin with, and just a couple of tweaks had it lined up. I finished by shooting steel @ 20 yards, there is something really satisfying about ringing steel.

I got there at about 8:15 today and had it all to myself. Or so I thought.

Shot the new Beretta and my Buckmark

Took me a bit to get used to the sight picture. First target was at about 7 Yards. Last one was at 15 yards. Tried some DA and some rapid fire. It opened up a bit with that. Was trying a new grip which I am not totally comfortable with, but it seems to have eliminated most of my low and left.

Got to the range today and noticed that they was a Sig flag flying at the beginning of the drive way. Do not remember anything about a Sig shoot today. There were more cars there then I have ever seen before. Almost no parking in the club and the club has a total of 288 acres.

The 500 yard range and the 100 meter range was open and all else was being used for the shoot. Got to play around with the AR-22 out to 50 yards and the Mk II out to 100 meters. I left my target backing board that the house. Found a dozen or so empty 12 GA shotgun hulls that I set up on the berm. That is fun watching them flip around when hit. Then off to the 500 yard range with the MK II. First steel was at 200 yards which was really not problem. After that, I was aiming from 3 to 7 feet above the steel to make contact.

Never got to shoot the Sig 1911-22.

Yeah.

My Dad and I went to Flintlock (Uwharrie). Shakedown cruise/zero for the .300BO I built for him. Took a couple of my rigs and got some trigger time.

Good times:)

Went to Frontline today. Normally I like to get there first thing in the morning, but today I waited until after lunch. I had some test loads to chrono, but I also took a few other guns just for fun. I shot 150 rounds of 9mm, 100 rounds of 45, and 15 rounds of 429DE. Then I went to the 500 yard range and was surprised that no one was there, so I had it all to myself. I shot 100 rounds of 223 through my AR, enough to get the barrel pretty warm. It was a good day. When I got home, I cleaned everything, and noticed one gas ring in the AR was bad, so I replaced all of them.

Did yesterday. One of my neighbors wanted me to help him out with a ar he knew nothing about, I needed to check the zero on one of mine so I figured might as well help the neighbor. The neighbor seemed overly excited to get to shoot come to find out he's had the gun since the 1st obama administration and never got to shoot it.

Headed to Conway soon, so I will be shooting today! Definitely the new G48, and the Beretta....

Later: Shot well today, gave the G48 and the 92s some rounds. There may be video at some point....I haven't tried to put any on here yet. Billy and RS seemed happy with my shooting, too!

Yesterday...went shooting with my BIL (relatively new AR convert...< 3 months).

In the way of firearms, I don’t teach on a professional level. I just try to share the knowledge I’ve learned from some really good folks over the years. When you see a shooter, especially on a new platform, take what you’ve shared with them and do well, it’s comparable to the way a parent feels when their kid heeds advice and the situation turns out good because they did.

To me, that is more satisfying than personally laying behind a rifle and shooting ragged hole groups.

I love seeing folks listen, put in the effort and succeed at something they really want.

Ask me again later on this week...
Or next week...
Or the week after...

How many days for ballot counting and court rulings??

Yes! A very expensive shooting day. About 100 rounds.
PS: 9mm at the range is up to $35/50, though MidSouth still has it for $25.

Shot the Beretta some, and gave the G48 the most work today. Loving both of them very much!
My shooting was inconsistent. Shocker!!

Buy any time at the range is a good time! Saw 2 other women in there, one was shooting for the first time. I was able to impart some of the wisdom I was given here as I left....slow down, get all your stuff right and lined up, then go.....something I need to do more of as well!

Shot a 700 with Shilen bbl I was thinking about taking apart. 308 12 twist with 155 ELDM's and 47grs of Varget. 2954fps with ES 2 and with a crappy rest and crappy scope got 3 hole cloverleaf at 100yds. Not taking it apart now. Also zero'd a Sig piston AR with an old Leupold ML scope for short range just in case. Midwest brake and 55 gr pills and there is almost no recoil. Beautiful day for punching holes in paper.

Went yesterday to Wesmar which was my first time shooting there. wanted to try out some .38 reloads. 49 out of 50 went bang. I was happy with that for my first time loading those. Also shot some 9.

Shot a round of sporting clays with a buddy (first time in my life). Definitely had fun & will do it again. Also ran another 100 rounds through the Archon (9mm).

I could’a saved you some money. :p

I did go shooting today at Battery Oaks.

The Beretta 92s continues to be awesome. I shot well today, one handed, which I hadn't worked on in a while. I've still got it, I guess!

I also got to shot a massive revolver, S & W 500 (?) which is .50......quite a handful, with a lovely fireball.

Yesterday, Beretta 92s. I love that gun more each time I shoot it. I've been working on my one-handed shooting recently. Shot 45 rounds before it got way too hot at Jim's. Hard to shoot when your nose is dripping sweat and your glasses are fogged up! Edited to say thanks again to my young friend who found the B 92s for me.....

Fired a mixture of magnum and 44 special rounds . The magnums are way more fun ! My brother didn’t want to shoot the 44[emoji6]

Sorta:
Big Daddy Unlimited had their 2nd shoot at our range today and I worked as a Range Safety Officer from 8 to 12. After lunch was able to shoot whatever was out there. Their must have been 20 silencer companies, unlimited number of AR companies as well as pistol caliber carbine manufactures. The first thing that I found interesting was that Big Daddy supplied all the ammo for the most part. Now they had it in a box truck that must have been 20 feet long with all calibers of ammo. There was no shortage of ammo. One table that mainly had 22 silencers must of had 30 to 40 1- 00 round boxes of CCI 22 LR sitting on the table.

I got to shoot my first 338 Lupa silenced, Springfield Arms new bolt action 6.5 CM with a carbon fiber barrel, Daniels Defense new bolt action 6.5 CM, a few Springfield Arms pistols with red dots and a bunch of pistol caliber carbines. Best thing of all, it was not may ammo. The link below is just the bay that I was working in.

Forgot to mention or ask, has anybody shot a Firebird 50 bio disk? They explode with smoke when hit. Got to watch a bunch get blown up today. Millie these will be up your alley. Also, I found this whip like whatever laying next to my truck any idea what it is. About 3.5 to 4 feet long with a handle on one end and some type of stopper on the other end. VERY limber.

Hit the range today. No Pics but I brought a Don Williams BHP, Nighthawk Colthawk, Browning BDA 380, GSG 1911 22LR and my LTT Beretta. I shot about $200 in todays prices worth of ammo. LMAO. Did a mix of drills and shooting with a timer. I shot a lot of DA/SA transition with the LTT Beretta. This was the Browning BDA's first time out. It is an amazing soft shooting pistol. It is butter smooth and simply puts rounds were I want them to go. I know it is huge by todays standards for its capacity and its caliber but it is a beautiful Italian lady. Elegant, silm in the hand yet with just enough weight and absolutely deadly.

It was some nice stress relief after a difficult week!

Made another trip to the range today to see how the SWFA scope was sighted in and what kind of change a can would make to an AR 223.

The scope dials were backwards. At 100 yards I was 2.5" to the left of bullseye and the dial show left with an clockwise turn. It is a MOA scope. So I turn the dial counter clock wise 2.5 MOA and the impact shifted another 2.5" to the left. Then turned the dial 5 MOA in the direction of left (clockwise)and was hitting bullseye. Can not figure that one out.

Next up was the AR and the difference between shooting suppressed and non-suppressed was about 2" at 100 yards. Suppressed the impact was lower. This can lives on 3 different AR platforms. The question that I have, would you zero it gun with or without the suppressor? The gun is piston driven and the gas block only has 2 settings. With the can on it was over gassed with one and would not lock the bolt back on the other one. Going to call CMMG to see what other gas block would work on that gun. Any suggestions?

Over all a great beautiful day, maybe a little on the hot side for the middle of November.

Got to run a few mags through a Kahr PM9, G43 and a Springfield Hellcat.
The Hellcat fit me best, I was hitting 3” plates at 7 yards 50% of the time. It was from a quick (for me) draw to fire without looking at the sights. That was satisfying.

Went to Woody’s today with all the 9mm handguns and my two daughters. Glock 17, 19 and 48, P320 X-Full, Carry and X-Compact, CZ P-01, P-07 and Scorpion, and HK VP9. Both daughters loved the X-Compact and VP9 (youngest tore out the X ring at 20 yds with it), so I see a very expensive Christmas this year unless I can part with some of the handguns that did not make the cut today lol

I did go shooting today, one magazine's worth in the Beretta 92s.

Today was mostly about my friend finding a gun. He shot the Sig p238, the G 48 and the Beretta. There were no .380s in the rental case, and the KelTec p3at is lost in my car. He didn't like that one earlier in the year anyway.

After shooting, we looked at whatever # a Glock in .380 is, and a Sig p365 and a p938. After much discussion, he ended up with a p938 and a nice holster. (I'm a little jealous, since p938 is on my "list".....sigh.) He's a lefty, and I remembered to check for the ambi safety, so all is good! He has land to shoot on, and he got a box of 9mm with his gun, so he's good to go.

I advised him to practice getting the gun out of the holster (unloaded) and getting that thumb onto the safety, so that it will be automatic when the you-know-what hits the fan.
All in all a good day!

Went to the range today and shot Ruger 5.7, CZ P09 (40cal), S&W Shield 9mm. Tons of fun. Also stopped by 2 gun shops. Planning on loading this evening. Great way to spend a day off.

Got last minute call from @TRaGiK this morning to test out some new guns. Ditched work and headed out there.
New guns we shot:
Cz Bren
Cz p01
Cz p75
Cz p10s
Cz p10f
Arex delta
(I think I got those right)
Plus our usual guns.
Got in little bit of hot water for ditching work but it was worth it. :D

Went to play around with the new scope on the 6.5 CM and get the dust off the 204 Ruger.
The 6.5 is going back to the Sig Scope. That new one is great at 100 yards but sucks past that. The 204 is a laser.
All of these were shot at 100 meters with light wind. The splat targets is the 204 and one of them have 5 rounds in that grouping.

Shot the indoor USPSA match tonight at Tilley’s range, PDHSC. Lots of miniature targets and some steel at decent distances.

Shooting irons indoor at speed reminds me why people use sights other than front fiber optic/black rear.

Ran CM 13-05 (Tick Tock) at a comfortable pace and was near 80%, so now I’m shooting for an A-class card in Production before my 9mm supply dries up.
