Glock 17. World's finest hand gun!

Because they have shot other guns?

Bawahahhahahha,,,,,,,,,Glocks make a fine sidearm. I have not owned one. I have a 19 and had another that I sold. Oddly enough of all the 9mm pistols Ive have owned the only one I keep since the day I bought is a Ruger P85. This list includes what suppose to be some of the finest firearms made,, Sig 229 scorpion, VP9,etc

While the Glock 19 is beloved by a lot of Glock shooters, it is a bit less than the G17. Less barrel length, less round capacity, less grip area, less accurate, etc.

If you're thinking about carrying and you think the G19 is the best option, over the G17, don't you know there are more concealable 9mms, than the G19? Like the Glock 43.

After owning and shooting many brands of hand guns, I have become a Glock fanboy. The G17 is the best of the Glocks.

If a gun is hard to conceal, I personally have limited application for it. And while I'm a pretty good sized feller, and I see the "beauty" of the G17 (that's a figure of speech, because they're all ugly as sin) I carry a G19 and a G43.

I am not what one might call a Glock "fanboy", and in fact had sold the Glock 45s I had, and didn't own any Glocks for several years. I just recently bought these two, and I really like how the 19 and the 43 carry, and shoot. Might get a G26, too.

I want a cz 75 or an sp01 and a DW 357.

I've owned a CZ P-01. It just killed the tip of my trigger finger. Other than that, a fine fire arm. I wanted another brand of 9mm to compliment my G17. I decided on a TriStar C 100, from Sports Academy, $329, plus tax. That's a whole lot less than a CZ Compact would cost. This is a fine pistol, in it's own right. But, when compared to a gen. 4, Glock 17, the grip is large. It's a stretch to reach the trigger in DA. I can't reach the slide release without changing my grip. Recoil is about the same, I can't tell the difference. I'll shoot it a lot, but not with as much joy as with the G17.

I carried a Glock 22 as a duty weapon, liked it once I got used to it, I own and carry a Glock 21 with some regularity, though it doesnt fit my hand as well as the 22 did. As a point of fact I have never owned or fired a 19, but to each his own. My taste in 9mm is the BHP, SiG P226, or S&W 5906, or an M9A1, just like them with a hammer I guess.

You mean you just haven't found one cheap enough?

LOL,,,You got that right. I will eventually find a 3rd or 4th gen for 400 bucks. That's all Im willing to pay because that's all I feel they are worth.

I agree with your "ugly as sin comment". Sigh!

I sold my G21, gen3. I could never get use to the grip size. I have medium sized hands. I pocket carry a lot. When the pocket allows, I carry a G42. When the pocket won't allow, I carry a lowly Taurus TCP. No offense meant to the Taurus crowd with the "lowly Taurus" comment. But it ain't the firearm the G42 is.

JG Sales, Aim Surplus and a few others do police trade ins all the time, also look at your local ranges, they liquidate rental guns just about yearly, you might get a deal

Majicmike Don't you know there is perceived value in paying full retail? I grew up with, and worked for (for 13 years) a guy who actively believed this. He felt he got better service and more attention after the sail/sale/cell/sell. I know this was true because anyone who ever sold to him more than once, "Could see him coming." LOL

It might add context to know that he owned the company and had plenty of discretionary dough.

As much as I like the G-17, I like the 19 a little more. Sold my last 17 two weeks ago, and now have 2 Gen 2 4 19's with RMR's, a Gen 2 19, and a G-42. Oh, I still have a 1911, but it's a safe queen.

The 17 is the first handgun I ever bought. Still have it. Only ever had one issue. A FTE when my girlfriend (now wife) limp wristed it. I didn't get rid of the gun or the girl and neither has failed me.
Good one sir.

I carry a G17 daily. There is no finer overall combat handgun. I carry a G19 sometimes, if I am wearing my swim suit.

...if I am wearing my swimsuit...

LOL

Speedos, I'm sure. Ha!

I just don't get the "Glock is ugly" perspective. I'm not a fan of cubism or Swedish Modern decor, but I find the simplicity of the Glock slide to be elegant visually and certainly operationally. This topic makes me think of the following commercial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yXvaM7kSYQ4 . I now have this fantasy about sitting down with an architect; plopping down a (cleared) fill-in-the-blank handgun; and saying "design a home around this."

I love my 17, is the pistol I have owned the longest, but the 19 is the best Glock ever made. If I could only own one gun for some weird reason, it would be a 19.

I have both the 17 & 19. Between them both I prefer the 19.
And then I built the P80 based on the 17.

Love the Glock, but since molestering the P320, I don't see myself going back to it. The only factors that Glock has over the Sig (IMO), are a) slightly better grip texture (easily fixed) and b) longevity (which is to be determined with Sig - quite a few folks have hit 10k+ round counts with P320s with no/minimal issues).

I'm not a fanboi of either, but it's created alternatives to the "if it's not Glock it's crap" response.

What holster is that?

The 17 is ok, and can be made better. I have one, and then the wife wanted one too. I hate the finger grooves/bumps, I'd remove them but I shoot production, I'd get a G2, but I like the rail. I'm not taken enough with them to have three in the house.
In poly guns I far preferred my Walther P99AS, never should've let that one go, in the years since should've gotten another.

And a MUCH lower bore axis. The P320 feels like your holding a cordless drill without the battery pack inserted. So top heavy.

A guy from Ebay made it for me, I will see if I can dig up something on it. It's the best IWB I have ever had (and I have had some nice leather from Sparks, Rosen and the like. To ME, it is perfect.

So why, then, is there a Glock 19 and beyond? Even Glock thought they could do better.

For the same reason Ping makes more than a pitching wedge.

I'm very Pro Glock...that's why I rock the 19
