Have you played any video games recently? If so, which?

If only!! I would love for the devs of Fallen Order to remake KOTOR and the Force Unleashed games

I have been playing the Xbox Series X for the past few days, mainly Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and Call of Duty Cold War.
How is the series X, that much of an improvement over the One? I missed out on the preorder, but have been thinking of picking one up soon.

It is pretty impressive. I am really excited to see what it will be like with the first real next generation games. I would put it on par with my gaming PC on Assassins Creed and CoD as far as textures and quality. It is definitely a big improvement.

Nice! I will definitely be picking one up then

I play Call of Duty and Tony Hawk with my kids every now and then. I spent a lot of bored hours playing Fallout 4. I really enjoyed the storyline and taking it different directions on play throughs. Settlement building and the expansion packs kept it fun for a long time.

I stopped midway through the story and just spent months on building up settlements, I was obsessed.

God I remember playing the original. LL goes looking for love.

My parents had no clue how filthy that game was.
my dad had the guys at work make copies of games for him and brought me home LSL in a box of 5.25" floppies. He knew what the game was, but i'm pretty sure he didn't know there was a copy in the box he gave me.
king's quest at day, LSL at night.

it really wasn't THAT filthy though. certainly no worse that the average stuff you'd see on primetime tv only a few years later.

I started on the Atari in 1984. I still video game, mainly World of War craft. I get an hour in after everyone goes to bed. I've been playing it off and on for 16 years.
Good to hear. I’ve been doing it since I was a toddler and have no intention of stopping. I used to play WoW but I was so young, I mainly messed around. I plan on giving it another go when I build a new PC

Ran an online competition gaming group (Clan) for years. We had servers co-located all over the country. Rented out servers to other groups. Competed in QuakeII, QuakeIII, and Counter Strike mostly. One of our members played QuakeCon and lost in the last round. We had small LAN parties and people from all over would travel to attend. AL, OH, MI, IA etc. One building we used is now Barnes Precision....

I remember playing first person shooters before mouse support. Duke Nukem, Quake, Yes I played LLL as well.

Now a couple decades later, I work with quite a few of the same guys I gamed with back then. A guy in our group was working for the company I work for now, boss asked him if he knew any more IT/Geek type guys, Now about 6 of us work there and have for the past 20 years.

I'm still a PC gamer and play a little now and then. Just started playing FarCry 5 for probably the 3rd time. I have every Call of Duty ever released.

So there, I just revealed my Geek-dom.

Can you guys learn me about the Xbox options? My son wants to play and chat with his cousin who plays on an Xbox. We have a Switch now but for some reason they want to go Xbox to Xbox for gaming.

Where do I need to start? Go all in and get the latest greatest version?
Along with the price of the console, what accessories are must haves?
We're talking Minecraft and Fortnite here. lol.

In addition to the FPS improvement, it’s also way faster. The load-in screens are almost non-existent now. (That’s coming from my 14yo)

Man, I miss LAN parties. Nothing compares to renting out the base rec center, bringing cubes of soda and pizzas and playing Quake, Unreal, and Starcraft until our bodies literally refused to continue working.

We went from LAN to splitscreen to online only so quickly, and the small social part of the equation disappeared over night. Now you're no longer playing with all your dorky friends from school but some foul mouthed 8 year old in Texas and a dude in South Korea who only knows have to spam Zerglings and insult you in broken English.
Amen Brother. After all of that, I don't even play on line anymore. It's not worth it.

Really enjoying Cyberpunk 2077 so far. Great if your PC can handle it. Driving is wonky so don't buy it if you're a driving game purist.

Modern Warfare (Hard Core Cyber Attack) when I get bored with TV. No warzone for me. Thinking of pulling the trigger on Cyber Punk. Hopefully the PC version isn’t plagued like the console versions appear to be.

For those games an Xbox One will suffice. The One X is better (4K support) and faster. I’m sure both will drop a little in price soon (if they haven’t already) since the new one is out.

Gonna need an Xbox Gold subscription for online gaming. Can get a yearly one. And probably a headset that covers both ears/is more comfortable than the stock one.

Rechargable batteries/charging station or you’ll be blowing through AAs.

I used to love PC video games. Once I started writing my free time plummeted.

But I've started playing TheHunter:Call of the Wild a couple weeks ago.

If you like hunting, it's fantastic. This is a three year old trailer, they've added more animals, weapons, ammunition, and preserves to hunt in. It's been a lot of fun lately..

my cousin bought an oculus s. I've had one for just over a year and i've played it a little bit, but there were some good game sales lately.
my cousin bought more games.... so now i've been sweating my X off playing beat saber and SUPERHOT VR

and I was very disappointed that the VR mode for Star Wars Squadrons still relies on keyboard and mouse instead of using the wireless controllers at all.

VR (and beatsaber) looks fun. Just gonna wait until the industry settles. Oculus Rift was discontinued. Can’t invest in something that could be gone tomorrow. One day though!

sweeeeeet
That was my concern and why I was going to be playing VR more than i might normally. I wanted to get my money's worth out of it before '23
let's hope that german antitrust spirit spreads to over here.

Started playing Farcry 5 again. I've just about beat it for the 3rd time. I see FC 6 is slated next year.

I liked the first one a lot. May have to try it out.
There was a sale around BF that bundled all games in series at $17.99. Not sure if it's still on, but look for packages.
