I truly enjoy Single Action six shooters. Especially Rugers. Yet,, not too much of the posting around here seems to be about them. Now,, I'm a newbie,, and haven't gone deep into the older posts. But hey,, what about the folks like me who enjoy these fine older designed handguns? Anybody else out there? (I do know a member,, cubrock who also enjoys them. He's excluded!)

Contender is long time thread contributor and well respected member of single actions pro boards site. I have learned a lot of information from his posts and others like him.
i would like to see more threads on both SA and DA revolvers too.
Thanks

I do like the single actions. Well I like revolvers in general. They are about the only platform that hasnt been plasticized and tacticlized. I'm a little bit of a traditionalist and like bluing and wood.

Do you happen to go by the same name in the Ruger forum?
I think we've chatted before.
I have the OM Vaqueros, as well as Blackhawks. Got a pair of Talo SS birdshead convertibles with consecutive serial numbers that I got for my grandsons.
Single action revolvers and lever action rifles...think I was born in the wrong century.

I have some S&W and Colt DA revolvers. One Colt SA NIB (unturned; investment piece) and a bunch of Ruger SA's. Latest additions are the Ruger New Model Flat-Tops in .45 Colt/.45 Auto, one in .44 Special, and the .44 Mag Anniversary Model .44 (Super) Blackhawk in .44 Mag. Great guns! I prefer the "longer" barrel lengths so the Flat-Tops are 5.5". I also recently picked up a Blackhawk in .30 Carbine. Interesting piece! I'm looking forward to having some fun with it at the range. SA's are my "go-to" fun guns when I go out shooting and I use the semi's for most of my competition needs. Wish there was a Cowboy Action shoot near me! There's one not too far away and I may run up there in the Spring.

Those 30 Carbine Blackhawks are a hoot. They are very loud with regular 30 Carbine ammo and are somewhat sensitive to case length. I have been using a good bit of 32/20 brass in mine loaded with lead 308 bullets. I am giving one of my M1 Carbines to my nephew and will probably throw in the Blackhawk since he just built a new home where he can shoot.

I have admired the single actions most of my born days, and yes, even lusted for the old Colt single action revolvers just never could hit anything with them. I do have one single action now but only because it is chambered for the .32 H&R Magnum, made by Ruger. Had I been intending for an investment I should have focused on the Old Colts but you & I know what is said about hind site!

Charlie, I bought some .32-20 brass to use in the .30 Carbine Blackhawk, but it seems to have minimal space for the rims; some cases will work and some will not. I also have a bunch of lead bullets for it, and plan to load it around 1000 fps or so, at least to start with. REALLY want to get some of the Speer 110 Grain Hollow point bullets to play with, but nobody has anything right now. Hopefully sometime soon..

I always like when the s/a bubbas show up. I learned to shoot with my grandpa's .357 Blackhawk & bought a 6.5" .357 Blackhawk a little over 10 years ago, ' cos grandpa. Then a fella let me shoot his Single Six & well, y'all know how that goes & I brought home a Single Ten.

Then I bought my first .41 & it was game on 😎 Dang ol' single actions forum will give you a serious case of the wants, too. Woof. Had no idea that I absolutely had to have a pile of .41 Mags, a .41 Special & a .357 Max 🤣

Some of the nicest guns that I ever owned were old 3 screw, flat top Ruger .357s and .30 cal carbines. I’ve got a couple 7 inch barrel .357s and a couple Single Sixes left, a .44 mag Virginia Dragoon Colt copy and a couple Colts. I cut my teeth on SAAs but I rarely shoot them anymore.

I as well like the feel of some good ‘ol SA’s and of course, their same caliber mates of the lever variety.

Snal,, yes,, I go by "contender on the Ruger Forum, and on the SA Forum. Good to see you again!

Hammer12lb,, did John or Otter make that rig? Nice!

Ok,, I have to admit,, that I'm a sucker for OM Ruger Single-Action handguns. But even worse,, I LOVE the OM Ruger Hawkeye pistol made by Ruger in 1963. In 256 Win caliber,, and it's a single-shot on a SA revolver frame. I'll see about posting a picture,,,!

And here it is;

That fire ring off my Hawkeye was accidently captured a few years back,, in Idaho,, at a friends place.

Nice pics above!!!!!!!

I have not had that problem so far using Starline brass. There is not a whole lot of clearance, but the cylinder does move freely. I am not sure if other headstamps have thicker rims.

@Crazy Carl , stand by...@RS will be posting a coupla special Rugers for you to see....and some others also. The Rugers have been treated to the most beautiful Case Hardening you have ever seen. One is a .357/9mm the other a 45Colt/45acp. This 45 version was only made from 1971-1973. Both are 3 screws. The Colts will need no introduction, Y'all have seen them before. The Freedom Arms is the newest and the most violent SA I have ever owned. The others are "interesting".

My Max, possibly the funnest revolver I own.

l-r- 215gr .41 Mag, 240gr .41 Mag, 200gr .357 Max.

This 6.5" .357 Mag makes me look like a hero at the range.

Next on my "project" list will be fitting this RDW grip frame & leopard wood grip panels to the Blackhawk above, along with a Power Custom Bisley hammer & trigger.
