I noticed that not too many folks post much about the Single Action's

I just went by the gun shop today I work at on weekends, they put out a bunch of 45 colt cowboy loads. if anyone needs any. Elk Outdoors in Elkin.

I have 4 big ones and 1 little one. Got a stainless Ruger Bird-Head, a Beretta Stampede, A Blackhawk and an old beater Colt, all with the proper size holes in the end. Then I got one of those NAA 22s.
RS, I love that Freedom Arms. I'll carry the Bird-head or the Beretta once in awhile in a crossdraw.

I like the idea and look more than shooting the sa. Lining up that ejector rod on a 22 caliber cylinder really slows the fun down...

My Max, possibly the funnest revolver I own.

l-r- 215gr .41 Mag, 240gr .41 Mag, 200gr .357 Max.

This 6.5" .357 Mag makes me look like a hero at the range.

Next on my "project" list will be fitting this RDW grip frame & leopard wood grip panels to the Blackhawk above, along with a Power Custom Bisley hammer & trigTermite?
I think you've told me this before, does the Max eat up your knuckles like a SBH does?

I love shooting my SBH since a changed the grip frame. Sighting on the scope I shot 50 full power rounds. My palm was aching but my knuckles was only a little uncomfortable.

Slower shooting makes you take more time to be accurate,,,! :D

It does not, but I have big enough mitts that the trigger guard can't get a good run at my knuckle. I've also not shot a .44 with that grip frame & while the Max produces a pretty impressive fireball, it doesn't beat you up like a .44 can.

Lol! I took my Single Ten & 39A to a rimfire steels match once. Kicked butt on the rifle stages, but man did I get heckled during reloads on the pistol stages.

Charlie, I bought some .32-20 brass to use in the .30 Carbine Blackhawk, but it seems to have minimal space for the rims; some cases will work and some will not. I also have a bunch of lead bullets for it, and plan to load it around 1000 fps or so, at least to start with. REALLY want to get some of the Speer 110 Grain Hollow point bullets to play with, but nobody has anything right now. Hopefully sometime soon..
I chronographed some of my 115 grain lead loads using 4.5 grains of Unique in a 32/20 case and got right at 1,000 f/s. It is a very pleasant load.

I have shot several Ruger Super Blackhawks,, with the Dragoon g/f,, and also the .357 Max with the same g/f. Neither one eats my knuckles. I do prefer a Bisley g/f for the really hard kickers though. The Maxi isn't a hard kicker in my hands.

I got girlie hands instead of gorilla paws. šŸ˜‰
That dragoon trigger guard eats my knuckles.

Haven't shot the maxi, but maybe one day.

Thank you. I will certainly give that a try. Sounds like exactly what I'm looking for to start.

My hands are not gorilla hands,, mostly "average" in size.
But I'm also a firearms instructor. And learning a proper handgun hold is often a way to overcome "problems." And BTW; I taught some 12-13 yr old boys (BSA) more than once how to shoot a Super Blackhawk w/o it hitting their knuckles.

I've always liked how single actions shoot, but for me, adjustable sights are a must, and I'm not a big fan of the plow-handle style grip.

I'm not sure if anyone makes one with a target style grip and adjustable sights, but if they do, It would be right up my alley.

You might be interested in the Ruger Blackhawk with the Bisley grip.

The 32/20 brass I have is so thin that I have to size it down with a 32/20 die. The 30 Carbine die does not size it far enough. I do use the 30 Carbine expander to put a slight bell in the case mouth for the lead bullets. It should not be needed with jacketed bullets.

I've heard that this can happen with .32-20 brass being too thin at the neck. I don't have a set of dies for that yet but am watching for an inexpensive set (LOL!). Right now I do have enough .30 Carbine brass to last for a long time in a revolver.

As noted,, the Ruger Blackhawk & Super Blackhawk line started with adjustable sights,, and are most common. I too feel adjustable sights are very important. As for the plow handle,, as noted,, the Bisley g/f handles much better for some folks. Again, a factory item.
Your question about "target" grips. What do you consider target grips?
I'm a firearm instructor. I always teach 2 things. One,, get a handgun that fits YOUR hand,, & learn how to PROPERLY grip a handgun. Makes all the difference in the world.

I do like single action revolvers! I wish I had not sold the 4 Colt SAAs that I owned over the years. I'm making do with a couple of Italian clones and a pair of Rugers (Old Army and Single Six .32 magnum Bisley) now.

I've got an Italian 45LC and 22LR plus a Rem 1858 clone with 45LC cylinder.
Collecting my couch pennies for a nickel Colt SAA 45LC with 4 5/8" barrel.

They do great work! Iā€™ve got a couple more that I need them to make. I had them make me a rig for a 1911 a couple years ago and Iā€™ve had them build 2 rigs for some SAAs that I had. Great work but not cheap.

Yeah they ain't cheap. Thought about having them make a couple of scabbards, just because I want them the way I want them.

Very nice piece there! I like the .41 Magnum myself. Have two; one Ruger Blackhawk and one S&W. Excellent cartridge.

Thank you. I'm a bit of a confirmed .41 nut, especially in stainless, with 7.5" (SBH Hunter) & 5.5" Bisleys, that 6.5"er & a Clements .41 Special built on a s/s flat top mid frame. And a Henry carbine, too... Lol!

Also hoping to pick up another .357 Max this year for conversion to .414 Super Mag to fulfill my "need" to have all the straight wall .410" flavors & to keep the Max company.

My favorite gun... my third 44 SBH, first one in stainless. Think I'll just hang on to this one. šŸ˜

I'm a Gunsmoke fan, so SA's in general make me feel like I'll be able to help out Matt and Chester one of these days, but really I'm into it for the hunting. Even a rifle with a sling is a pain to get through rhodo and laurel hells, the SBH in a shoulder holster leaves both my hands free to grab branches and such. I have a .270 that hardly leaves the house, if I lived down east and had a 150 acre field to shoot across, might be a different story, but in these mountains I can hardly see 75 yards in any direction at a time. So the 44 does all I want pretty much.

Careful, she's not safe, don't let that photo hurt ya šŸ˜‰

Great looking pistol and well worth the wait.

Did you have any action work done to it?
