I want a pretty gun. Poly guns aren't necessarily pretty, they are tools.

I've had all kinds, and all of the big poly players, but I want something different.

But, my mind won't let me just have a gun to take to the range and sit in the safe, i just don't function that is way. So, this will be a house gun/HD/bedside gun. And with that said, it needs to have a rail, as it will be getting a light. 9mm preferred.

I know that in reality it will be a range gun but need to be able to call it and use it in the house. Does that make sense?

I don't mind getting something and sending it out, or me doing work, to get a very nice trigger.

I want steel, but aluminum or alloys will work. I know there will be weight.

I had a SP01, and really liked it, only sold it because the wife shot it well but couldn't shoot it long because of weight. But, she does have a G42 or, if stuff happens, can grab my M&p9c.

I've looked at Beretta 92 series, and hear mixed reports on them. They can be nasty looking depending on source, or they can be quite pretty, VZ makes some nice grips too for them.

1911s, always a favorite gun. I know they can be finicky on ammo. 9mm ones are becoming more prevalent, not as common.

I had a BHP, liked it, but no rail. The add on rails Marr up the dust cover and that's not pretty.

Sig P series. Dang I want to like these. They feel great in my hand but I can't shoot them for anything.

I know there are other options out there. I am open to options. There is a budget, but it's flexible as I don't want to miss out on a good option because it's $50 out of budget. And for most, I don't mind buying used.

What do you think, and what other options are out there? I'm not buying immediately, will shop around.

Wait, you said it has to have a rail for a light. You are looking for a tool, not a prom queen.

I got a Sig 226 Sao not long ago and I like it more and more every time I shoot it. The trigger is amazing. It's a little on the expensive side but I'm using it as my edc because it's so easy to shoot. Good luck with the hunt my friend.

Springfield just came out with the Range Officer Elite Operator. A 9mm 1911 that's "Black T" coated (very close to their Amory Kote) it has your rail, steel frame & slide, GI recoil setup, match barrel ... http://www.springfield-armory.com/products/1911-range-officer-elite-operator-9mm/ ... it has G10 grips but a pretty set of walnut would dress it up if you want that classic look. Springfield has done a remarkable job with their Range Officer and 9mm 1911s so I'd have no problem counting on one ... in fact I do I carry a Springfield EMP in 9mm for my SD gun. Street price on the RO Elite Op T should be about $950 ... don't know what you budget is.

Wait. So you bought that S&W Model 19

The Range Officer's are great shooters. Mine came with a 4lb trigger from the factory, but the EMP's ARE THE BOMB. I got to shoot one in 9mm with the 4" barrel and it was really exceptional. It's what a 9mm 1911 style pistol ought to be.

These are actually great options, they are very nice looking and I have not read of many issues with these.

I may have to look at the Sao sigs, I haven't shot the DA/SA very well even though I really like the way they feel

I was thinking a nice Luger would be pretty but then saw you must have a rail. A railed 1911 (oh the horror) would be as pretty as any railed pistol.

No rail, but it meets the pretty qualification,

By anything that you shoot well, even a poly. Then cerakote it into a masterpiece that is unique to you only. With Cerakote the sky is the limit.

Just want to throw out an opinion on this quote:

Not wanting a gun just to enjoy is bad thinking. If shooting is a hobby and you enjoy shooting than you SHOULD have a gun to use at the range. It WON'T be left in the safe, in fact all the other guns will be left in the safe!
Guns that are pretty and made ONLY for shooting enjoyment are the best guns to own if you actually like shooting.

Having a gun for that (shooting enjoyment and pride of ownership) is far more logical than buying a gun.....for what? Battle? SHTF? What are the chances of that actually happening compared to the chances of you going to the range to shoot and have fun with your wife?

I have a Glock 19 and a Glock 42 for carry. ALL my other guns are for fun and shooting at the range and at matches and for pure shooting pleasure. Nothing wrong with that at all. Just want to throw that out there and put a dent in your nice gun guilt!

Oh, and a nice CZ is what you need.

You typed a lot, just cutting it off before it gets really long lol.

You are exactly right. My line of thinking actually comes from growing up and getting older. I grew up pretty poor, so everything we had had a use for it. When I got older, I bought stuff that I wanted and didn't keep up with money, so I would have nice guns and truck stuff, but little money. As I've grown up I've gotten better, just have to meet in the middle. So, for nice stuff I give myself a reason to have it rather than fun, it clicks in my head, does that make sense?

I did really like my SP01, and I think a worked version would be awesome, that's definitely on the table. Or any railed CZ steelie.

I keep going back and forth with the CZ vs 1911. I know they are both fine guns, and I know either of those will serve me well.

@CZfool68 you're a bad man. cz1.jpg pic_021304_01_2.jpg

A Dan Wesson is a compromise for you since they are owned by CZ. Win, win. Grab the Specialist.

Although there is nothing wrong with a CZ 75 of some kind. SP-01 is a fine shooting wepaon. You could grab one of those an add CGW trigger kit or a CZ Custom job and have a trigger almost as good as a nice 1911. Either way you go is good.
