If you could only have one handgun, what would it be?

I have a lot to choose from here but I actually end up carrying the G48 the most! I want to go with the 19x but the 48 is much easier to carry.

So, the only way I can play this game is if I imagine the balloon has completely gone up, I am now going to be forced to wander the barren wastes of the former US.

In that case, it would be one of my 1911's. I am most accurate with them, and if I am gonna die, Id like the granola eater who smoked me with his anderson manufacturing AR and NC Star optic to be baffled by the controls of the old beast.

My uber-practical side wants to say a model 47 Medusa.
Of the things I currently own, my Px4 compact carry.
A legit argument could be made for a Bond Arms derringer with lots of barrels of different calibers.

But I would probably pick a M9A4. I shot my old 92FS well, and I like Berettas

Oh cool deal. Glad to hear it's going so smooth. Final question, what is the weight on the Berrys you are working with?
I like 115 or 124 RN for practice. I also load a lot of 124 Hybrid Hollow Point which I do not shoot a lot. I am kind of stockpiling those in case factory self-defense rounds become unavailable.. I also got hold of some 147 grain HHP as well. I know 147 is heavy for my tastes on 9mm but the price was really good. I have worked up a really good load there with Remington Primers, 4.7 grains of Unique loaded to a COAL on 1.100 with a light crimp. I just realized if you are asking about 30SC I like the 100gr Berrys. I would have to go check my notes to see the powder and COAL.. I am pretty sure I used some Bullseye

Hehe heh yeah 30SC was what I meant. You had me blinkered there for a minute. I am gearing up for a variety of .308-312 cal handgun cartridge playing around ideas in the near future. As you well know there ain't a lot of variety in the lower grain choices, so I am always looking for suggestions prior to getting everything back up and running. Bullseye some old stock you had on hand? Or have you been seeing it on shelves somewhere?

ok one final last question, did you mean Berrys 110gr M1 Carbine bullet?

If I could be assured it would always work, I would take a 4 +/- inch double action 44 Magnum such as a 629 S&W. Since one never knows when something is going to break, I would choose a 1911 in 45 Auto. I have accidently trashed one 1911 shooting reloads made by someone else and was able to get and fit spare parts to get it back into service. A good gunsmith could probably do that with a 629, but I have been able to do it myself with a 1911 so far. If I ever find myself again in a place where there are large toothy critters that may want to eat me, a 45 Auto will not be a problem because I will also have a rather large rifle handy.

Since no one else has mentioned it yet, I might as well, Glock 19 🤣. The reason it beats 1911 is because I have been a Glock armorer for about the last 20 years. So I feel more comfortable about diagnosing and fixing problems.

And my comment above about not needing a screwdriver I think I stole from you at lunch yesterday.

The more I futz around with Glocks, the less interested I am at familiarizing myself with other striker fire guns. Maybe just a creature of habit thing.

Glocks have problems???

Glocks have problems???
No, it is operator error 🤣 🤣 🤣

Edit to add: And if you want to break something up give it to a bunch of cops. I have seen things that how it happened will only be revealed in the afterlife.

I’m getting old, and don’t always want a loudenboomer. So ;) a suppressed 22LR, with a small optic. Rat sized groups at 50+ yards. Good for paper, tin cans, or shooting small. Quiet to save my ears and not upset others. As long as it is reliable and accurate, with spare parts, I don’t care what brand it is. Or a steel J frame in 38/357.

Out of all the guns I've owned, I would keep my Sig P320 Legion in 9mm. I can use the 21-rd magazines, hard to get 21 in but easily functions with 20, so with a two mag pouch I could have 61 rounds available. It would be pretty heavy for EDC, even in an OWB holster but I'd never feel under-gunned.

And if I was going down and saved the last round for me, my family and friends could claim the thing went off by itself and shot me.

for the simple fact that if the shit hit the fan finding 9mm woule the easiest. i would have to go eith my full size s&w m 2.0 and a bandelier full of 23 round mags, but if i just wanted to look cool a 1911.

That's easy - if I could only have one handgun it would be an HK P7.

I no longer have a P7 precisely because I have more than one handgun. The P7 manual of arms is so different from any other pistol that I could be proficient with the P7 or with other pistols, but not both at the same time (and, yes, I was embarrassed at a Glock match trying to strip a mag out using the heel mag release and then trying to release the slide by squeezing the grip).
