I'm going to do something terrible and magnificent.

Well I had to order that Vsim receiver block, if that doesn't work I'm going to give up and toss this crap.

Here’s my unbubba the bubba 1903 that only has a 21 inch barrel. Bubba cut it down and sporterized it with irons but no recvr holes. I replaced the williams sights with ‘03 sights and shortened a replacement scant stock [removed the scant] and a handguard to keep the wood proportional. I’m real proud of this one.IMG_4459.jpeg

This thing is one of the best tools I’ve purchased. I feel like I got it on here a while back.

Thank you from the cold black bottom of my heart. That receiver block is awesome, even if mine didn't come with the pins. The upper is now assembled, assuming I got the gas port aligned right. I'll snap a pic when I'm not fussing.

The FM products upper I need to take the barrel off of has a bloody curve at the top of the charging handle area because it's a front charger I guess. So the block won't insert. Why. Whhhhyyyy!

Actual bloody progress. Sure it's three steps forward and two back, but progress nonetheless.

Yes, the barrel looks like garbage between the gas block and the muzzle dingus. That's because I had to strip the paint to get the gas block on. I'm going to remove the handguard, mask stuff and put some of the special primer down tomorrow. I think there's enough left in the can......

Amazingly enough despite different manufacturers for the various anodized parts, they're all really really close in shade etc.

Hell yeah! It’s uglier than I could have ever imagined and I love it! 😍

Can’t wait to see what craziness you have in store for the lower. Joseph and the amazing technicolor dream AR.
The lower will be relatively dull, just colored accent parts and stuff. I'm not painting it because I don't wanna.

But it is getting bedazzled.

OK, assembly has happened. Mostly. The pin that came with the bolt release is dog dookie and is getting replaced. It's going to need a gold charging handle and bcg. I need to repaint the barrel. Maybe a purple safety selector too if I can find one. The paint is already peeling off the scope caps and I chipped the upper purple anodizing in a couple of small spots, so I'm going to figure something about that eventually.

But lord this build has me tired. I can't believe it's actually together, mostly.

And here's the feet pic version for the degens.

Figured out how to jazz up the lower a bit. Ordered a foam stamp of leopard/cheetah spots.

I'm going to cut it into individual spot stamps and add contrast markings in as close to the furniture burnt orange as I can find. That should break up the boring black.

Well if my Muppet self can put one together, so can she.
Pretty sure we can cobble up whatever... she was an ammo troop in air force and daughters husband is a gunsmith.

The trick is convincing him to participate in such an abomination 😆

Well the rest of barrel got two coats of undercoat and two of gold. Tomorrow if the weather is decent I'll clearcoat it and be done with that part.

I am still amazed how much better the gold HVT is to work with than that bloody purple. Great coverage, awesome finish, easy application. Not the thin, translucent drippy mess the purple was.

It's going to be awesome! You definitely need a bad wig, purple pumps, and a shiny gold purse when you shoot it. This could start a trend... :)
I'm actually thinking about doing a gold and leopard hockey mask to go with it lol

Barrel is painted, although there's a rough ring where it meets the gas block. I may cheat and use decorative tape on that because I am so bloody sick of painting and still have the receiver decor to do. Soon as the parts get here I can finish. Finally.

Meanwhile........

Assembly is finally complete.

I actually unironically love that shiny BCG. It's hard to see, but that little name plate says "That Bitch", because that's what this bitch is called, because it dresses like Carole ******* Baskin.

There's a few dings in the anodizing from me screwing up, but I'm shocked this got done. I may or may not paint the cheetah print on the lower, but frankly if I never see any more paint ever again I'll be fine with it.

Of course I need to take this out of rimfire really, it isn't any more lol

I might actually see if I can get my son-in-law to build one for daughter-in-law.

I'd sell you this one, but to break even I'd need way more than it's worth, especially with my crap paint and the dings.

Lol no, couldn't deprive you of the chance to hit the range as macho man and touch that batch off....
