Unfortunately, they did.

Agreed on everything.Reading in some places (mostly gun forums), where the Debbie Downers are out in full-force, claiming this event was a waste of time and accomplished “nothing”...
Hogwash.
1) I don’t think a soul there was under any illusion the governor or legislature would change their minds about the proposed bills. Knowing this, they still chose to use a day off work, travel on their own dime and voluntarily stand in really frigid temperatures for an opportunity to let their voices be heard, even though they knew it would be falling on deaf ears.
2) Many were expecting only 1500-2000 folks, tops, to show for the event. I believe we can all agree the crowd numbers were exponentially higher....there was a need to be heard and folks, LOTS of them, willingly and enthusiastically answered the call.
3) The media narrative (most every facet of it) got all shot to sh*t. The crowd proved this event was not an issue of white/black, male/female, young/old or gay/straight. The issue was solely about liberty of free citizens...ALL free citizens.
4) Many of the participants were armed with the same weapons that are demonized by politicians and the media. No shots were fired and no one was injured/killed.
5) Armed citizens are not a problem. If that crowd had any intent at all to create a problem, there were enough of them there to do just that and there wouldn’t have been a damned thing anyone could have done to stop them. I know Northam gave all the credit for de-escalation to security personnel staffing the event, but the thing is, there was nothing to de-escalate. There were thousands of armed, pissed off citizens attending and the sole reason the event did not turn into a sh*t show was due to the self-discipline of those citizens...that’s it...that’s all. They were cool customers and it is the only reason the event went smoothly.
5) The citizens in attendance proved they were good stewards. They did not tear anything up or vandalize/destroy property. Some of them even brought trash bags and cleaned up after the event ended.
6) This was a peaceful step in the process. Those folks chose not to “take the gloves off” as a first resort.
In my opinion, this was a win and it was a huge one. The citizens who chose to attend should be commended...every one of ‘em.
If anyone needs a reason to be proud of being a citizen of this Republic, look no further than what happened in Richmond today.
"crap, here we begin the 'this election is too important' stuff"
I've read this several times and call me stupid but I do not have a clue what this means.

The writer is saying that some of us will vote for a Republican even though they have disappointed us many times. It usually comes after someone points out that giving the D's the majority would be a disaster (as we are seeing in Virginia). The writer lives in an alternate reality where not voting or voting for the fanatical gun-haters somehow advances gun rights. Exactly how this will happen is never explained."crap, here we begin the 'this election is too important' stuff"

I’ve been seeing more people abandoning the moniker “law abiding” and instead adopting “peaceful” because of how bastardized law has become and divergent from right and wrong. This event is proof positive that law abiding firearms owners and their legally owned and operated firearms are not the problem.
You realize there are other options that not voting, voting D, or voting R, right? The writer is saying that some of us will vote for a Republican even though they have disappointed us many times. Splitting the pro-gun vote by voting for someone unelectable, thus empowering the gun grabbers? Or just burning the place down? Are there other options I'm missing? You realize there are other options that not voting, voting D, or voting R, right?

They endorsed Thom Tillis, I'd say they aren't that great of a litmus test for freedom.I tend to follow the GRNC voting guide. They put a lot of effort into it.
edit - and as litmus tests go, I think a candidate's postion on gun rights is an excellent one.

I never heard a word from Trump on this issue. Seems he is focused on his campaign and tweeting about the impeachment. That worries me. And the leadership of the Republicans have said nothing. All this is happening right before their eyes. It’s obvious Republicans have abandoned the fight. In my opinion the reason so many Republicans have said nothing is because NRA money has shifted away from their campaigns.

I think I will go with "currently peaceful".
My opinion?
Same deal. Free citizens, peacefully, mobilizing and making noise. Hammer the governor, AG and legislators with calls, emails or visits to voice contempt for anti-liberty legislation. Show up on election day and hand some of these folks their walking papers.
Use every peaceful avenue of recourse possible.

If you look at VA, the last election is rife with corruption. Accusations of gerrymandering to benefit the left, voter fraud(again by the left) and Bloomberg dumping tons of money into the campaigns of his candidates. It doesn’t present itself as a fair election.
Now that they are in office they immediately change the laws surrounding investigation of elections to make it harder to unseat them. To me that looks like they stole the election, they know they stole it and now they’re going to do everything they can to protect themselves.
I'll admit I was relieved that no major shenanigans occurred over the event. On the contrary, there are pictures of happy people peacefully bearing arms, smiling, and fellowshipping with fellows of all races.
Kudos to you for taking one for the team.Morning after report:OUCH!!
All my joints are killing me but my foot got the worst of it. Can someone put me in for the purple toe award

I'm certain that North Korea and China were watching this today. I'm thinking they were impressed.
I have not decided if my NRA dues are going to GRNC or GOA.I tend to follow the GRNC voting guide. They put a lot of effort into it.

If you can't decide, split it up and send at least $20 to each. I fired the NRA and sent my $ to GOA.I have not decided if my NRA dues are going to GRNC or GOA.
Amen...
But what is step #2 now?
I have not decided if my NRA dues are going to GRNC or GOA.
President Trump also twitted this yesterday
"I will NEVER allow our great Second Amendment to go unprotected, not even a little bit!"

As a matter of fact they were. I did an interview with a Chinese News outlet:
I did almost a dozen interviews during the rally.
Here are some additional outlets I spoke with.
Vice News:

Epoch Times:

Others included Univision, A Spain News Network, another South American News Network, The New Yorker, a Japanese News Network, and more.
As the additional articles and interviews are released I'll add them to this thread.
Couldn’t have found a better representative of the firearm community if they tried.

Tried, but Wayne and his sack hangers have dug in too deep. North was the new guy and didn't have the clout. Just getting people on the ballot for an open seat on the board is an ordeal. A good few people have walked away from the board because they figured out that a few key people have grabbed way too much power for themselves and everybody else is just there for optics.Didn’t good ok’ Olly North recently try to oust Wayne?
Maybe it’s time for a boogaloo within the ranks of the NRA.
Out with Wayne, bring the pain!
That's the funny part to me - with everything that's going on, they just want to describe themselves honestly. And they won't call themselves law-abiding anymore because they know they can't/won't follow laws once they get this bad.I’ve been seeing more people abandoning the moniker “law abiding” and instead adopting “peaceful” because of how bastardized law has become and divergent from right and wrong.
