Let's drop the weight challenge

Don't let the rain hold you back. If (when) they cancel set a personal goal to run the 5K some safe time/place this weekend on your own.
You right, you right.

Tomorrow we're working remotely due to incoming weather. I'll go to HP, do my job for a bit, and then, likely, hit the gym and try to get in that jog/walk. Ive been under the weather all week, so no gym since Sunday.

Oh, and they did cancel the 5k. I asked about a refund and was shocked when they said something like, "Yeah, if you really want a refund just submit your confirmation and an address..."
Uhhh, yeah, I do want that ha Event aint happening, no shirt is being given out etc. Yeah, 25 bucks please

I walk 5 to 6 miles a day and do my own yard work. this keeps me around 172 at 5'10". Some summer days I sweat enough to get to 169. I've increased by 15 lbs since I was 21. Lots of cycling and long distance hiking in the past, no alcohol, all has helped keep the weight off.

Weight holding steady-ish; analog scale showing 176, digital scale at 181. My diet this weekend was sh**, so we'll see on Friday when I go to chemo. I did not exercise on Saturday, but had hard session on the heavy bag yesterday.

Edited to add, I am not sure which is the more 'right' scale, so I average the two.

Still at it, consistency really is the name of the game. Hit a max of 275lbs on bench yesterday so pretty happy with that. I usually don’t max but had 8 slow and controlled reps of 225lbs so thought I’d give it a go

Overhead press max of 225lbs, can rep out 185 fairly easy. Torn meniscus prevents me from squatting too heavy but still can rep out 275 for 12. Don’t plan on going heavier than that for now

Haven’t weighed myself in a while but clothes still fit the same so guessing I’m still around 245-250 at 6’3”

My weight has been going up for three years, and my blood pressure followed. The meds I started three weeks ago were hard for me to tolerate. So I abandoned that approach.

When I think about how much my toddler g-daughter weighs, 26 lbs, and think how heavy she feels to pick up, and how much weight that is on my knees, I think, “Man! I’ll be able to haul ass at the next IDPA Match if I lost that weight."

Lost ten pounds this past month. Left knee doesn’t hurt going down the stairs now. Coincidence?

I cut out the carbs. I’m not watching calories. And I still drink whisky at night and argue with strangers as required by life. A man can only tolerate so much.

I self authored the "fieldgrade famous diet".
Meaning, I’m winging it.

Turkey sausage in the morning with an apple,
celery with jalapeno pimento cheese anytime because I like it, celery is good in fiber.
handful of peanuts here and there,
pecans, lots of pecans because I have little self discipline, but they are good in fiber I’m told,
salads with chicken on top since I have a chickfilet not far away,
meat off the grill,
seasoned limas, seasoned pole beans, maybe some other veggies when I get tired of those.

I’m not going hungry.

I expect a lot of this is water weight here at first, we’ll see how another month of this goes.

Both losing weight and cutting carbs (sugar) will help your knees. No coincidence. Many people don't understand the relationship between sugars and inflammation.

I am proud of you.

"They" told me I was going to lose weight on chemo. "They" were wrong. I am up about 4 net pounds over the past 8 weeks. Chemo week, yeah, it's awful and I eat what I think will stay down but the other two weeks I eat pretty much what I want. I need to clean that up. Still exercising, so a case of 'you cannot out-exercise a bad diet.'

McAllisters Savannah Chopped salad sounds right up your alley. It’s darn good.

Speaking of blood pressure.

During the high heat of the summer, running a chainsaw and axe mine would get low and I’d get light headed and want to pass out.

Had a deal this morning, wasn’t working or doing much other than sitting at the table.
All of a sudden, started feeling like I was going to throw up, vision got blurry and really “white”. Started sweating profusely, like rolling off of me in big drops. Couldn’t stand up.
So the wife checked my BP.

69/39

Though I might be taking the backhoe guy up on his offer a little quicker than I thought.

Blood pressure is a weird thing.

Keep an eye on it folks.

Dehydrated maybe?

I really recommend you follow up with your Dr about that. Your BP dropping that low is dangerous and could be a warning sign of other things going on.

Could be a pump issue with your heart, pipe issue with your vessels or a fluid issue as in dehydration. Either way your body having a BP that low isn’t going to be able to maintain for long and will start shutting itself down to maintain. Have you taken it since then?

It has worked its way back up to normal for me, 136/78

I think it was dehydration, I popped a liquid IV and it started moving up.

I will check with Dr. first of the week.

Thanks.

If you adhere to the CDC’s outdated BMI charts, as of this morning I’m no longer obese. So, I’ve got that going for me

6’4” / 245
BMI 29.8

I'm at 188 right now. Picked up a couple lbs this last week. I added a lot of carbs back in my diet because of all the additional physical work I took on at work. Started feeling really drained until I upped my carb intact. Then things felt much better. Now to cut that back down since I'm not doing that stuff this week.

Wife has gotten on a routine and lost about 12 lbs. She's 2 lbs under her goal weight and might end up loosing more.

Down 12lbs to 216. Blood pressure not dropping as much as I hoped.

Going see what dropping another 4-5 lbs does.

I wish I had seen this one when I first joined in here.
I started in August at 238 lbs. Most recent weigh in was 210.4 lbs, yesterday.

What’s everyone’s plans for Thanksgiving? Stick to the agenda, or enjoy yourself knowing you can’t ruin your progress with only one day’s eating?
Personally I'm going somewhere in the middle. I'm not gonna gorge and potentially fall back into old habits, I'm going to continue to practice putting down the fork before I'm stuffed. But I am going to enjoy some gravy and dressing 😁
Still going to keep away mostly from the dessert table, sometimes all that sugar makes me feel kind of sick after a few months without it.

Haven't lost, haven't gotten any fatter the last while but since I'm apparently out of my funk for a bit I'm going to try and lose some lard.

My house is still a mess so I'm going with easy rather than best for now, with Equate Plus for breakfast and lunch because work and easy and a healthier dinner (microwave veggies bag and a serving of meat most likely).

I'm walking about 3 miles a day for work so I'm going to try and clear out my cave enough I can supplement that with some heavy bag for calorie burning because my knees would prefer I didn't do more walking.

Let's hope it sticks this time.
