Mandalorian Season 2 Thread ***Spoilers May Be Inside!

Yes I was. I hoped for "so bad it's good" but that movie is beyond terrible. John Travolta's worst performance was the best part of it.

Sooo...y'all sayin' this ain't no "Plan 9 From Outer Space" quality movie, then?

Is there a book or in One of the animated series episodes the (canon) story about how Jango and Boba got their armor?

So in the Clone Wars show (canon), the prime minister (?) of Mandalore tells Obi-Wan (?) that Jango is nothing but a lowly bounty hunter and has no idea how he got his Mandalorian armor.

That changed with the Mandalorian. Now, when Boba showed Din his chain code and told him Jango was a Foundling, Jango was therefore gifted his armor by whichever sect adopted him and is now canon. If anyone can chime in and correct me, let me know

This series from 2002-2003 depicts how Jango became a Mandalorian but not specifically how he earned his armor. He was adopted as a foundling by the True Mandalorian sect after Deathwatch murdered his parents. I can see how Dutchess Satine might deny Jango. He's part of a remnant faction from the losing side of the Civil War that put her and the New Mandalorians in power. Jango rose to lead the True Mandalorians AND he killed the leader of Deathwatch so he was possibly a rival for her. #StarWarsPolitics

thanks guys!
‘I need to get on with watching the animated series and read more of the books. There is just so much out there I’m trying to stay with official canon.

You bring up a good point. The Star Wars universe is so vast, you sorta have to keep up with the games, novels, comics, shows, and movies to have a full grasp of it all. I’ve learned so much about Star Wars these past few months but the amount of media I still haven’t touched is immense.

The Clone Wars show is a great resource plus it’s just good (most of the time). I skipped some episodes that were just filler. I watched every episode until about season 5 but the reality is, there’s some episodes that are great and some that are pretty bad.

There was something about the animation style of the early seasons of the Clone Wars animated series that really gave me the creeps. The eyes looked real, but the facial muscles did not move right. Something about that really bothered me. I had to ease into it by watching Season 7 (with its much better animation) to kind of innoculate me before I could tolerate the first couple of seasons.

So what will season 3 look like with out the child?

Hopefully like The Mandalorian.

That's what the show is supposed to be about. The Child is nothing more than one story along the path that The Mandalorian is taking. There's a whole lot of lore behind the Mandalore to explore.

I'm sure they'll be sticking to that.

Well that's good news in terms of addressing the short season syndrome.

The short season syndrome is largely why I have yet to watch the final episode of Season 2.

I'm already sick of seasons consisting of a mere handful of episodes. This is fine for story arcs, in my opinion, but an entire season? Screw that.

I get some of the reasons why this (and others) are short seasons...but that doesn't mean I've gotta like it.

Right there with you

Gina Carano has been fired from the show because she dared to be conservative in Hollywood.
Yeah, saw that brewing yesterday. This cancel culture crap is 😡

Did you see the thing she posted? It's so spot on about history repeating that somebody couldn't take it.

"Because history is edited, most people today don’t realize that to get to the point where Nazi soldiers could easily round up thousands of Jews, the government first made their own neighbors hate them simply for being Jews. How is that any different from hating someone for their political views," the 38-year-old former mixed martial artist said.

People never cease to amaze me. What Gina quoted is absolutely factual. But instead of reading it and thinking "She is right, the nazis fomented hatred between classes of people. This caused internal strife. They then capitalized on this to achieve their goals." This is not a matter of opinion, it is literal documented history. Instead, they read it and immediately jump to "Oh noes, gina thinks we are nazis and is belittling the millions of dead jews!"

If it werent so tragic, it would be funny, but the fact that there has been so much vitriol and hatred thrown her way from just expressing an opinion is literally what she was warning them about.

Gina: "Guys, its bad to make enemies out of people who disagree with you because it can lead you to dehumanize them. This has been done in the past and it led to bad things."
Left: "I cant believe you said that! I despise you! I want you fired! I want you run out of town! DOWN WITH GINA! YOU EVIL WOMAN! SOMEONE SHOULD THROW HER IN A GULAG TO SHOW HER WHAT IT WAS LIKE! DEATH TO GINA!"

Her Talent Agency just dumped her also.

From the article, this is dead on:

Human Events Managing Editor Ian Miles Cheong weighed in on the news by bringing up Disney rehiring James Gunn after the company fired him over sexually explicit social media posts, including posts that mentioned children.

“Disney canceled Gina Carano apparently because of a social media post where she highlighted the dangers of dehumanizing others, but they rehired someone who made numerous disturbing remarks about rape and pedophilia,” Cheong wrote. “Just so you know, this is where Disney stands on morality.”

Damn this is blurring the line of where I cut off things/others of dissenting views. We've hit this topic numerous times on this forum. My opinion has usually been "you can't nix everyone/thing that has a different viewpoint from you--you'd be all alone in a vacuum if you did." But this one is more than a differing opinion--it's potentially destructive.

Now I have to make a call of cutting off a pretty good source of entertainment and a damn good storyline in my house. This isn't such a happy thing.

Im dumping disney. i was gonna do that as soon as i finished Rebels season 4 anyhow... ive watched all the good stuff.

but now I can slam the door on my way out.
How is Rebels? I want more to watch after finishing Clone Wars but it seems even more kid-ish than CW, especially with the art style. If it has quality episodes like CW, I’m up for it though

I thought the same thing about the style of animation....but boy was I wrong. Terrific series. Got me on an emotional roller coaster. Not as much "filler episodes" like CW so every episode had a connection. You won't regret it.

It sucks for her, but at the end of the day, Disney is a business that has to protect its bottom dollar. They did the math on their viewership and sponsorships and figured they'd lose more $$$ keeping her than axing her. It's the free market at work.

I watched Rebels before Clone wars. I prefer the Rebels animation style because the "uncanny valley" effect from the first few seasons gave me the creeps. I still prefer Rebels. Star Wars Resistance uses yet another animation style, but seems aimed at a younger audience than Clone Wars or Rebels. A lot more "cutesy" moments in Resistance.

I know what I'm about to say is pretty much tongue-in-cheek...but I gotta say it anyway.

Gina is the first actress to "act" like her character off-screen. I would presume Cara Dune to have thoughts similar to Gina's. Disney/Lucasfilm created her, but they can't handle her in real life. It's ironically funny.
