Of course we both have the "no drinking" BS... Can't have a glass of wine or a beer and maintain the right to self defense... At least in NC you can go from concealed to open if you have a beverage and still be legal...
Two areas where NC has the advantage: in South Carolina, one needs explicit permission to conceal carry into a church or someone's home. Neither is required in NC.
One interesting quandary: for those without a concealed carry permit, driving across the border between the two states with a handgun is illegal. In SC, the handgun must be hidden, while in NC it must be readily visible. Thus, at the moment you cross the border, you will be illegal in one state or the other.
Nope that's a tie. Had one in Laurinburg N.C. in my ute.If it ever gets to a tie breaker, I'll just tell them about the funeral home in Conway that had a drive through window for viewing the deceased. That should do it.
Ifn u wuz, u iz!I was a damn yankee at one point.
and Travelers Rest.
You haven't spent enough time at Wal Mart.Well, I have been in and around North Carolina for many decades and have never ONCE, seen anyone open carry. So that's really a none sequitur. Now, we do have Lindsey Graham so that's a point against us.
So are teeth. Just sayingGas is cheaper in SC
Nawth Calina... Bo-ford
Sowf Calina... Bue-fert

You can in NCYou can carry a gun in your car without a permit in South Carolina.
And I will see your Graham and I will raise you a Roy Cooper...
His name is Cletus. He's okay. Not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but he means well. It's uncommon but I do see the occasional open carrier even here in Mecklenburg. Usually it's a Hi-point riding in an Uncle Mike's clipped to a pair of sweatpants, but hey it's still legit OC.
Not to mention six and twelve mile, three and twenty/six and twenty. And my favorite is central......located well into the upstate.
Least you could do is say “hey” when you see me...It's uncommon but I do see the occasional open carrier even here in Mecklenburg. Usually it's a Hi-point riding in an Uncle Mike's clipped to a pair of sweatpants, but hey it's still legit OC.
Interesting observations. Since moving over the line into SC and having the Kings Mountain Battleground in my backyard, I've come to learn that this area has historically been rabble-rousers and non-conformist. My kind of people.I won’t speak to laws but let me speak to two things. I was raised in SC and my family are natives. I was born in Thailand but was brought back to SC at 10 months old.
And I have lived in NC for about 20 years when you count my time at Jacksonville.
And I am both a study of people and of history. SC was settled primarily by Germans, some Cajuns with a smattering of English. My own family was descended from a group who refused to kneel to one crown, was caste out to an island which ended up under control of another king, to which we refused to kneel, and then sent mostly to penal colonies in Louisiana.
NC was primarily settled by English serfs.
From what I’ve seen over the years people from SC are more likey, as a general rule, to tell you what they think of anyone to their face and ignore legislators and police who overstep their bonds.
And people from NC are far more likely, as a general rule, to bitch about the legislators and the rich and their bosses in private and then publically state what great men the all are. And much more likey to break stupid laws only when no one is looking.

As well as it should be. They are the ones wanting to be an exception to the law.NC you sometimes need to search around the door a little.
Do you search?? If it's not conspicuous, I didn't see it.
Although those opposed to concealed carry would probably say that makes SC less “free” putting such burdens on business owners for putting a large ugly sign on their front door.
South Carolina is proud of having bad roads. They put up signs bragging about it.

When I first moved here I thought that was the SC state flag.
Nope. Just have each side pronounce Beaufort.
Or Rullerferton.I’ll see your Beaufort. Bowfert. And raise you Rutherfordton. Ruffton.

Well if this was the only fact that I had to consider, I’d move tomorrow.I won’t speak to laws but let me speak to two things. I was raised in SC and my family are natives. I was born in Thailand but was brought back to SC at 10 months old.

Travelers rest is the home of the travelers. Kinda like our very own gypsies. They deal mostly in fake asphalt driveway scams.
