New Palmetto State Armory Location in Denver NC

Oh cool! A PSA store in NC means I can go to their store and buy a handgun without having to send it to my in-state FFL! :D At least from what I remember out-of-state purchase laws being like (which is possibly wrong). While Denver, NC is still pretty far away for me, that's a great resource for NC folks as far as PSA goes. I wonder if I want to buy a gun from PSA, I can ask for it to be sent to this store and go pick it up there without an extra cost?

(Nevermind the fact that I'd pay the same in gas to get to the store as I would for the FFL transfer fee, even if shipping was free)

It just hit me that the Black Aces shotgun I've been looking at will be on my way to work. I can feel myself going broke, am I psychic?

I just spent my budget for quite awhile. Didn't know this was happening. :(

I may be wrong, but I believe in-store pricing may be different than the website. I could almost swear I have seen disclaimers to that effect.

Not sure and not going to bother looking right now. My question is, will they process returns in the retail store? Store pickup would be way cool too.

I hate the possibility of being held prisoner in my home by whatever shipper they are using. It sucks to get ripped off by a porch pirate, but especially gun stuff. FedEx is cool, you can reroute to a location, UPS will not do this at no charge, plus gun stuff is a no go. Period. They use franchisees that do not ship or handle any firearms related items.

Did a drive by yesterday. The only way you could tell is that there are two small signs on the front doors. Not something you would see just rolling by if you weren't really looking.

I'm just hoping their range fees are reasonable.

I’ve had all kinds of gun stuff held at my local UPS store, including ammo.

Every once in awhile a shipper won’t let you make any changes (for FedEx or UPS), but most of the time I have no issues. I don’t think PSA ever does that, but Brownel’s and/or Midway (can’t remember exactly) do it every single time.

Then they don't know it's gun stuff or your "special". Do you know the owner well enough that they violate their franchise agreement? I'm curious to know how you do this. I've tried and the system won't allow it. Share.

I've tried online myself and my son works for a franchisee at a couple of his stores. According to the guy he works for it's a no discussion issue.

I have no idea who owns it. I just use the FedEx or UPS app and select hold at store. I use the UPS Store for UPS, and Walgreens for FedEx.

I'll try that. I usually get FedEx held no problem and this reminded me to have one held. The system told me to contact the shipper to do it. Brownells. I'm going to be here anyway, so I'm not going to bother. It only offered Walgreens this time, not the FedEx store in the same strip mall as usual.

I know it’s off topic but I’ve had the same experience as @BigWaylon. I do as much as I can online and, prior to COVID, would often have stuff redirected to the UPS store near my office. For FedEx, it’s easier, I’m pretty close to their Kannapolis hub so I just pick up signature required items there.

Yeah...Brownell’s won’t let you change anything.

I had FedEx leave 16# of powder at my local Walgreens. No questions asked.

FedEx has never been a problem. This is the first time I had one from Brownells that I wanted to have held. Otherwise I've just done it online in the past with others. I've never been told to contact the shipper before. The UPS STORE is the issue and their franchise policy.

Correct, from my experience. I found a shotty online at their store. Started to order, but had a service call come in from Charleston. On my way back, I stopped in. The gun in the store was 50 bucks cheaper than online on the PSA website... plus no shipping or FFL fees.

Mt. Pleasant PSA is 5 minutes from me, here is my summary of buying from PSA.

You can pickup FFL items you buy online from store without paying transfer fee. You will have to pay shipping unless it is free shipping.

Store prices/specials can be different from online. You will have to ask for a price match. Sometimes I got the store to match, sometimes I got told politely it was an online only special. One trip I was looking at optics and the sales person was super helpful. I did not know there was better deal online and he said go that route. He could have made a sale for a higher price but gave me heads up.

I have watched people bring in PSA branded guns with something broken, staff open a brand new kit or package to give them what the costumer needed, and customer goes on with their day. No receipt or anything needed.

The store here has, or had, a pretty good stock of everything and staff is very nice to deal with. I think PSA should open a store next to Hyatt's.

Thank you,

I just asked a followup question about ordering other stuff online, or would it just be firearms.

So it sounds like...
1. Firearms only
2. You’ll pay for shipping, but no transfer fee
3. (Tax charged no matter how it’s done)
4. Everything else is BAU...has to ship to you

I've been to the PSA retail locations in Mt Pleasant SC and Farrow Rd in Colo.

The impression that I got from the Mt. P store is that they had a LOT of hunting stuff and non-firearm related stuff to fill space.
Farrow Rd has an excellent but small indoor range and not alot of retail but that's right next to their main warehouse.

So hopefully this place will be more focused on shooting and stuff related to that, not deer corn that I can buy around the way for $7 a bag.

Any updates on this? Are they up and running?

I drove by over the weekend while I was up there. So far the PSA logo is on the doors but that looked like about it. It looks like they might be remodeling the inside, but still closed.

Thanks, was just thinking about this today and wanted to check in!

Pretty sure this is Jamin (one of the owners of PSA) regarding the Horry County site
