Obi-Wan Kenobi

Reva only stabbed him in the guts, he is likely alive unless they are going to retcon most of the Star Wars Rebels storyline. My only minor gripe with the show so far is that they cast Rupert Friend in the Grand Inquisitor role instead of Jason Isaacs who voiced the character in Rebels and would have done an awesome onscreen version. The man has the pedigree to play villains onscreen; Lucius Malfoy (Harry Potter) and Col. Tavington (The Patriot).

Just a reminder that even though the premiere was pushed back to Friday, new episodes are released on Wednesdays.

Finally, some good ol’ space swashbuckling!

Why is Obi Wan so weak?

Because reasons.

Why was Boba Fett a feckless idiot in The Book of Boba Fett?

That series should have been two episodes long:

Episode 1: A bunch of t**twaffles threaten Boba Fett and get on his nerves.

Episode 2: Boba Fett kills all the t**twaffles.

Basically, Disney pulled the same stunt with Boba Fett that George Lucas pulled with Han Solo when he remade Star Wars showing Solo not firing first.

Is it really a surprise Obi Wan turned out this way, too?

Use it or lose it?

I would say he has cut himself off from the force. It's energy is no longer making him strong. It is why he does not know Anakin is alive as Darth Vader. Once he taps back into the force to save Leia things change.

It wasn't as awful as I expected but Darth Shaniqua is annoying as hell. And how the hell do you get to be an inquisitor when you can't even defend against your own people? Sith are pure dead man's shoes dog eat dog and he just stood there and got chumped.

Don't think I'll bother with the rest.
she has been hiding her power and managed to keep her true intent secret from the more powerful one she stabbed - the same way Kylo hid his from Snoke.
I don't wanna turn that into a woke thing... but it should be easy for you to do it if you want.

Isn't the guy she killed in a later timeline story though? I'm assuming they just killed him off to make her the head honcho for girl power bs.

Oh, and you’re racist if you don’t like the sista girl. According to “headlines” I’ve seen.
I heard about this. Disney released a PREEMPTIVE statement, before anyone (if anyone ever did) make comments about her, saying if you don’t like her character that you’re a racist and not a true fan. I don’t like her character, she’s killing Jedi! So I guess I’m a racist non-fan.

It says he’s in 5 episodes so I don’t know. But I was pissed that he does die so quick. Peter Quinn is not easily killed.

I stopped being a fan a while back and these days I am absolutely fine with being considered a racist. I learned it from them after all.

Saw all that bs, to me it seems like she is trying too hard and her character come off feeling cheap. Its not natural like moff gideon was.

It’s bad acting. Apparently she’s a good actress, but I agree she’s probably trying too hard because she’s in the big league Star Wars clan now. It’s not terrible, I’ve seen worse acting. But people always hate the villain, and if she’s accomplishing that, she’s doing okay.

The green cape is not a coincidence. F&F leave so many tiny details and connections.

She's just not a believable bad guy

Why exactly? Lets assume the she is a former Padawan who blames the Jedi for her life. Obi-wan talks about being taken from his family as a almost infant child. This was what the Jedi did with force sensitive kids. She then lost all connection to her family and lived through order 66. Most likely survived by living in the slums of Coruscant. She would hate the Jedi and see Vader as her savior. She is overzealous but I am not sure why she is not believable. Would the bad guy be more palatable if it were a young male white former Padawan?

By this point the Jedi are not popular. They failed to protect the Republic. They lost and have all but disappeared. They are no longer keepers of the old republic but instead are symbols of the failures of the old system.

maybe if the show pointed to more of that, we'd have more sympathy.
Right now she's just "generic bad guy they/them who hates the hero and if you don't like them you're a racist."
call me crazy, but given how much of a universe they're trying to craft, this seems kind of lazy and defensive

I get that. With Star Wars stuff there is multiple levels of watchers. Some are deeply rooted in the Canon of the storylines others are just watching it as stand alone pieces. It is sometimes hard to balance the two and also hard to tell who they are writing for. I believe the opening scenes of the flash back to Order 66 show. The 3rd Sister fleeing as the Jedi Order falls.

Also do not think they are looking for sympathy for the character. You are supposed to hate her. She is ruthless and his hunting Jedi and specifically Obi Wan for a reason. Something I posted in another thread that I found interesting is that she knows who Darth Vader really is. How many people in the Star Wars universe at this point in time know that truth. We watch as Obi Wan learns the truth. This points to something deeper. If you watch episode 3 her "style" is very much in synch with Vaders treatment of the locals. They could be doing a better job of filling in the back story but to me they are laying the ground work. F&F often employ a slow roll in terms of story line.

I find the 5th Brother to be oddly written. He seems overly sympathetic and passive in his approach to the locals. That was not his manner in the 2nd season of Star Wars rebels. In that series is a dangerous and skilled hunter and killer of Jedi. My guess is that they needed juxtaposition.

I have zero interest in anything Star Wars past the 2nd set of 3 films. Mandalorian & Obi Wan sound fun maybe, but since they're Disney products, I won't be paying to watch them.
Mando was only so lauded because the quality of every other Star Wars live action product in recent history was so low.

I am with you. I cancelled my Disney+ for obvious reasons. But torrents tho.

I just watched ep 1. The acting, sets, effects, costumes, action… all good. The writing is not great, but it’s sci-fi so…

ETA: except the stupid chase scene with Leia. That was really bad.

Yeah, you really have to power through the first one and 1/2-3/4 of the second. After that, it does at least become watchable.

Towards the end of the second, the wife jumped up and turned on the receiver with the big speakers. You’ll know when. 😎
