Opinions on the Sig P365

I just recently picked up my pistol purchase permit and have been doing some research before I buy. I found the Sig P365 to be one of the best compact guns on the market. Thoughts? Which is best Xl, X, macro?
 
I would go with the X Macro. With this pistol, all you need to do is buy a XL or standard 365, a couple mags and you can easily switch between the full size X Macro to the smallest standard p365.
 
I like the XL.

The extra length helps with recoil and velocity, but does not have any real impact on your ability to conceal it.

Unless you have very large hands, you can comfortably get your pinky on the grip. If you can't, you can use the extended 15 round mag with the provided plates for a full grip.

Grip length may not be as important if appendix carrying, but if you carry at 2/3/4 o'clock, the shorter grip length than the Macro or X prevents it from printing at all if using a holster with a concealment claw/wing.
 
Longer response: when have just the standard 365, no cuts or anything. I added a Wilson combat lower just because I enjoy spending money. It wasn’t needed, but the added tungsten weights are a nice addition.

It has been accurate and reliable so far. And it’s small enough I carry it in my pocket about 90% of the time. No, it isn’t as tiny as some offerings, but it is a nice size that I can still get a good grip and pocket carry. The 10+1 capacity is also nice.

The X and XL use the same frame, so the grip length is going to be identical for both.

To me, I like the shorter X slide. I shoot with dots, so sight radius is irrelevant to me, and the shorter slide will give you a little bit lighter recoil being that it’s less reciprocation mass with the same grip size to hang on to.
 
I've owned a total of 4 365s at this point. A regular p365, an XL, and X and now an X in .380.

They are awesome. In fact the .380 is hilariously fun to shoot. I've run them with and without dots. Best carry gun in my humble opinion.
 
Shot the standard and the XL. Had an XL. Don’t have it anymore.

Trigger reach was too short, grip was too narrow front-to-back for a consistent grasp on the draw, and the slide stop was perfectly positioned to blister the base of my left thumb within two boxes.

Shoot one before buying. I went back to carrying larger guns when possible and scandium-framed snubbies when not.

I'd agree with this if sig didn't tell me to kick rocks. It's a great size gun disappears on your waist and reliable in my experience. Although the rust and finish issues on the barrel would have probably killed it within a year. Modular FCU is amazing and I hope every company steals their idea because it is the best design for striker pistols that has been developed in years. QC issues happen (I own the t shirt) just buy it cheap if you can; Just incase it needs to be cerakoted. Thin finish seems to be common on 365s.

Interesting. Mine has held up with daily use for a few years now, and there is no sign of rust or wear on it. Maybe its because I wear an undershirt all the time, or maybe I just clean and lube my stuff more frequently than most. I've probably got around 1500-1600 rounds through mine, and its just beginning to show the first signs of wear on the underside of the slide and very bottom of the serrations. I wonder if its a widespread issue, or if manufacturing processes took a dive during COVID, etc.?

Idk I purchased mine NOV 2020. I posted pictures of the rust on a 365 fb group and a bunch of people also had similar issues and called me an idiot. "Just take steel wool to it and re-oil it. It's fine" the barrel finish flaking off isn't common but I've seen it a handful on other 365s. The reaction I got from CS on a $600 gun telling me to unload, wipe clean and re-oil every time I carry a gun and the rust is my fault after 30 days of ownership was insulting. I didn't carry the firearm at work either so it was just weekends.

Tbh it's a great gun and I loved it but the company's reaction to a small simple QC issue ruined it for me.

What do tungsten weights do for a pistol?
 
I've had a 365XL since shortly after they were released (July 2019). No issues to date after ~1k+ rounds and daily carry. a MACRO is likely in my future once the offer a version without the ports.

This. I have small hands and I have a standard 365. I liked it so much I was first in line for a 365XL. I tried to like the XL but just couldn't get on with it: harder to rack, harder to load mags, I just didn't like it. Don't have it any more. I still like the standard 365 better than any other small 9mm – it fits MY hand better and just works the way I want.

When considering a handgun for a particular application, I usually narrow it down to 2 or 3 and then try to shoot or at least handle them. Actually I often buy them, keep the one I like best and sell the other. A carry pistol is a pretty personal choice. You are the only one who knows what you will like.
 
I still like the 365sas, haven’t tried any of the others to see of they are more better. I suffer from stubby fingers.

No front sights, and once adjusted the sights work surprisingly well.

I do want to try one with a manual safety.

There are small slots in the Wilson Combat lower that you can slide tungsten weights into. They add a bit of weight to the small pistol making it less front heavy. Makes it feel a bit beefier.
 
I got the standard and XL as soon as they were available. I really like them both, and for me, they are as close to perfect carry guns in 9mm as it gets.

play with it in a store, it has a trigger that’s a little frightening light for me. It’s the first striker gun I’ve carried.
 
I have the 365 and 365SAS. Wish I had bought the XL. Is my EDC and my favorite of probably 15 that I have carried over the years.
