PayPal Warning

Somebody not long ago wrote "ammo" in my comments section in a PayPal transaction. Of course it wasn't "ammo," it was lead shot for a sled I was building. Anyway, it has been a few months and nothing has happened. I can't take a $2500 hit. How far back can these violations be reviewed?

Edit: if I had known about this fine I would have been a lot more upset. I just told the guy to be careful with comments because PayPal was not 2a friendly. I assumed, wrongly, everybody in the firearms community knew that.

So,
other than Freedom Seeds, and Nice Wrenches, what other terms can we write?
Let's start a list about what to write...

Guaranteed if you put anything supporting trans/lgbt issues they will leave you alone as that is clearly a part of their socialist agenda.

Tie in with a different thread here....Cornhole

They went back a year when they restricted my wife’s account.

This thread prompted me to close my account this morning. I have executed three transactions over the past two years, all of which could have been done by check or cash. Not worth having that link to my checking account.

Well now I'm kind of sick and pissed at the same time.
I don't like holding people's hands, but I guess it just goes to show you that you never can be too careful.

Make sure you have no money in the account. It is 18 months later and they still have our money that we were supposed to get after 6. She has tried numerous times to contact them and gets stonewalled every time.

Thankfully, it is only $8, but it could have been more.

Just opened a new checking account and removed the others attached to PP. One concern is whether they could charge penalties/fines to an attached credit card. 😳

Almost 10yr ago they called 2 people I had sold to and asked them what they bought. Thankfully each said car and machinery parts but that was a close call.

" None of your business. Buh Bye"

You are both unimaginative and no fun.

"Fifty-five gallon drum of natural lubricant, molding kits, injectable liquid silicone compound, small DC motors, dog collars, muzzles, leashes, furry costumes, plastic fruits and vegetables, and medical equipment."

So just everyday run of the mill stuff huh???

😂 I didn’t have any input, I was just thankful both guys were smart enough to say something other than gun stuff.

Will “Not gun stuff” suffice?

It's not a "gun"...it's a "wireless cardiopulminary inhibitor".

It's not "ammunition"...it's "ballistic laboratory equipment for use in physics calculations".

It's not "targets"...it's "wallpaper".

Ok question? I have bought gun parts off eBay. Just bought a holster from four brothers. I pay the yearly membership to this forum using PayPal. Is all that a violation? Am I liable for each transaction? At this moment my PayPal is no longer active after reading this. I’ll go to the old fashion way and send a check lol

Oh helllll naw, I’d reject that immediately!
Too late. He knows now so I hope mine was the first and only one he made mention of such things.
But, as I mentioned earlier, it was not ammo, not sure why he thought it was. Maybe mixing up sellers and products.

I have had several members “request” that I put “good luck with your gender reassignment surgery” in the notes when sending money via PP. Now I understand why

*my definition of request may be different from Webster’s

Looks like the site operator let paypalsucks.com expire. I thought it was common knowledge.. they are not a bank. You have government enforced consumer protections with banks. You have nothing with Paypal. They can take your money at any time for no reason and you have no recourse. It is a little suprising to see they wrote down the fee. In the old days they just took your money and told you nothing.

Review horror storys using the wayback machine:

There is a reddit now:

I advise strongly against supporting paypal by using them for any reason.

Their terms say "fireams, amminition, and certain firearm parts"
So, the forum and the holsters are cool, the parts may or may not be. Of course, PP doesnt specify or define the parts that would be taboo.

I'm in the process of closing mine. It's more involved than just pressing a button.

Edit: I had to call them since I had a credit account too. I'm done.
Now, is there a "my interests" friendly alternative?

So pretty much whatever THEY deem “not allowed”

Update:
I filed a BBB complaint. The BBB contacted PayPal and asked them to respond. They mediated the communications. First round was them pitching a lot of BS and not directly addressing the problem. I did not accept their first round of Bull. Two months after filing the complaint my money showed up in my PayPal account and I immediately transferred to my bank.
For all who have had monies taken by PayPal I highly recommend you file a BBB complaint. It works!

This thread has been eye opening for sure!
Interesting note a year or so back I purchased a rather large amount > 1k in seeds of freedom from that chain store that begins with an A...and they listed payment options that included PP....order was immediately processed and shipped and delivered in 4 days.

I've used PP a few times over the years but I've never left any money in the account or linked it to my back account. Luckily no one, buyer or seller, ever left a comment so I never had a problem. I canxed it after I got a couple of phishing emails asking me for information about linked accounts, which there were none. Venmo is ok as I've used it a good bit for transfering money to family members. Zelle works well for me too. Bottom line is so far my credit card doesn't restrict who I buy from over the web. I try to do transactions local face to face when I can.

This reminds me to point my PayPal to the account I created to isolate their reach to one, always nearly empty account .
It costs me $1 per month, but I have a checking account that I use for these types of situation, e.g. where whomever won’t accept a card.

Could you give a brief step by step that you took on that?

Like it or not, you DID agree to those terms when you signed up for PayPal. It pays to actually read those long winded "Terms of Service" policies that everyone just clicks through.

Tim
Winner winner chicken dinner.

It sucks. Paypal's policies suck. But those long pages of small print that you click "I Agree" to when starting with their service means you agreed to their rules, and then broke them.

I write only "From (my name), thank you"

nobody needs to know what I bought.

PayPal does suck. You don’t gain a thing by leaving money with them. Why would anyone leave assets in their care for any reason?

It is a convent way to send money instantly for goods. But why anyone would write in the memo line is beyond me. Didn’t ever think of “what“ to write. Just don’t write anything. The person getting money knows what it is for…

Go to Better Business Bureau www.BBB.org. There’s a link to file a complaint. They walk you through the process. I posted my complaint and told them my story. BBB will forward the information to the BBB Office in San Jose and they contact PayPal with my complaint and give them 30 days to respond. They responded at the 30 day mark but just said they would look into it. BBB asked if I accepted their response and I did not. I replied that the response did not resolve my issue and I would not accept anything less than getting my money back. BBB asked them to respond and 30 days to answer. My monies showed up in my account at about 30 days, I sold my Crypto Currency and transferred all funds out of PayPal. I am pleased to say its in my bank account now.
If they take your money you just have to stay on them. I think they bank on people giving up. Don’t give up!
