Looks like BATFE is closing in on the 41F July 2016 deluge of submissions.

So this chart is from the NFA tracker site. I annotated it to show what's going on:



Notice the obvious ramp in wait times starting early 2016. 41F was published in January 2016. The increasing wait times suggests that the # of applications was rising each month in the first half of Jan 2016. And then we get to the pre-41F deadline in July. I'm sure you all are aware (or even participated) in the mad rush in July. We're going to need a new chart, because the days to approval are going to spike up.
 
Not sure I agree, I've been following the tracker on form 4s, and they're starting to level out at 260 days. It's kind of cool when I refresh I see the cluster of dots that come in. Mine will be one of them within two weeks if the trend holds.

Maybe it's different for Form 4's, but the pattern is pretty clear for Form 1's. The chart above is for Form 1 trusts paper filing. The spike in the months leading up to the July deadline is even more obvious in the chart for Form 1 trusts efiled.

And I know for a fact that the # of Form 1 paper submissions in the 24-hour period leading up to the deadline absolutely exploded because the efile system went down (and ATF couldn't be bothered to bring it back up given the system would need to be overhauled after the deadline).

Jeremy emailed me yesterday that my stamp has been received. Sadly, due to my own situation, I can't pick up my Optimus until after the 24th ... /cry
 
I will not live long enough to have mine approved....................... AAARRGGGHHH.
 
Just peeked at the two Efiled F1's I have ...one submitted on Jul 4 and one on Jul 11. There is about 7,500 forms in between the two , accoring to the difference in the two serial numbers.

And the answer I've never been able to find is whether they're sequential, or if they skip numbers like credit card companies do.

And if there's only one "stack" of numbers being assigned, so that 7,500 could include a bunch of F2s, F3s, F6s, F6As, etc...or is there a different formatting for each form.

Turned 62 1/2 on 3/2. I'd like to shoot one of them before I'm too damn old to hold the rifle up.............

All good questions. It is rather hard to believe ATF is organized enough to be sequential across forms, etc. I was in a running dialog with the project manager for F1 and F4 Efile, and they haven't a clue in general. Would be fun to know. I recall reading the half the MG registry is on 3x5 cards still....
 
I filed 3 Form 1's on 6/28/16 within minutes of each other. One came back 1/17/17 and the other 2 on 3/14/17.
Please make note that they were filed minutes apart. I got lucky on the first one or unlucky on the other 2. It's ok now...
I hope to hold off on filing any more in hopes of the HPA.

265 day from submitted. They had issues with my "model name" at the beginning so I had an extra wait there. Then they requested photos of all factory engravings at the end. I'm glad it went through!

SO got bunch a whole stack of stamps, all were dated late May up to June 17th. Approved Mid March 2017.

Sources tell me wait time will jump in the next week or so to 12 months and maybe to 18 months. They have close to 400k forms sitting in the queue waiting to be processed that all hit right before 41F.

I dun shoulda listened to you guys who were telling me to file last January instead of waiting until the July deadline.

I may be dead and buried by the time my SBR is approved.

BATFE approved on 08/30/2016
Have not gotten form 4 back yet
Asked for a certified copy.
Call back 5 weeks later, ask for a certified copy again.
Rec'd copy on 03/25/17
Still haven't got the original form back with the stamp. Must be in someone's stack to mail out.
At least I got to pick up the suppressed barrel Sunday 04/02/17 with the Form 4 copy.

You will never get the original unless it is found somewhere in the postal system or at the NFA branch.
We had 2 approved form 4's that finally showed up 13 months after they were approved.
 
Looks like folks are seeing Form 1s as late as July 6th coming in on NFA tracker. Based on the control numbers, and if they are batched out well, I'm about 4-5k out. I'm looking for mine in the next few weeks...
 
I need to review my records. I've pretty much forgotten what I'm waiting for.
