Had the opportunity to “shoot” this on Sunday. Those ram’s horn grips are beautiful. So many colors!

Beautiful Nickel 27-2 that fell in my lapView attachment 373069View attachment 373070
Ive been trading guns with an older gentleman for 5-6 years. He’s in terrible health and has been since I met him. Not sure how he has lived this long. Beat 2 different cancers. COPD, and a broken hip just since I’ve known him. Anyway, he can’t drive and all he has is his guns for any enjoyment in life. He decides he wants something he will put in a request and worry you to death til he gets it. A couple of years ago he wound up with the above 27 and I’ve tried to buy it or trade him out of it with no luck. Said i would get 1st shot when he decided to let it go but never was ready. This week I went to his house to pick up a couple of guns to sell for him and he hinted he was finally ready to let it go. I went loaded for bear. Took guns and cash. When I got there he told me he wouldn’t trade or sell, he was gifting it to me! He had redone his will last week and put me down to get the gun if he died before we traded, but then decided if he was dead he wouldn’t get to see the smile on my face when I got it. I was floored. In about 30 seconds it went from a $1500 gun to Priceless. It’s almost too nice to shoot. Almost.

I've also got a Taurus 2.5" Model 66 that's been my everyday truck gun for over 20 years. Always goes bang & puts the bullets where I want 'em. I do like d/a revolvers as well & would love a S&W 657 Classic Hunter at some point, but my first love are my single actions.
I've got a 4 inch barrel Taurus 66 seven shot. Shoots great. It came with a slightly canted barrel though that I didn't notice because I'm like a kid in a candy store when I'm buying a new gun and overlooked that known issue. I fixed it myself even though it really was slight and I could have just well enough. It just bugged me.even though bullseyes were the norm. I made a frame wrench out of wood based on a Bubba design off the S&W forum since I didn't want to send it off to Taurus and couldn't get an answer if a Smith 686 wrench would do the trick. I was willing to buy one since I intend to have a 686 plus someday. Nearly bought a 686 6 inch with partridge sight when I decided to go single action. PSA had them.

@BatteryOaksBilly
Can you give us a run down on the Smolt?

All of them are very nice, I've always found the Smolts interesting.

Truck gun champion- not a beauty queen by far but rugged as they come. 64-6 .38 K frame. Bought used as DAO and installed a spare hammer.
Must have been a PD special order etc but has no markings.
