sales of rifles and shotguns by individuals

In Michigan, the purchase permits were only good for a single purchase. The serial number, make, model, purchaser/seller info were recorded and copies retained by both parties as well as state police.

NC, does not require such garbage. It's a wonderful thing. I'm not required to retain anything. Just confirm the buyer has obtained a PPP or has a current CHP that matches a valid state ID.

I don't want to hold any documents. I don't want to write "void" on a PPP. It's not my responsibility to police the buyer, just ensure paperwork is in order.

Edit: The above post is in reference to handgun purchases only.

Yup...whether a seller reuses a PPP or not is of no cover to me.

Getting a PPP might be arguable as a safety exercise (albeit unconstitutional ). Being forced to obtain more than one is just a tax.

When I first moved here and decided to get into shooting, I decided 9mm was the way to go for that.
So, I decided to sell my .45.

I ended up selling it to good member here. I did a BOS. He showed me his info and I set it all down and took a picture of it with the BOS and his PP.
I really didn't know what I was doing. I do it differently now.

Member is a good dude and was cool about it, didn't even say anything. But I really cringe when I think about it now!

When I bought my first gun, it was through a BST on the old, pre Canadian site. I can't even remember the guys name. At the time we did a bill of sale. I put it away someplace "safe" but have since lost it.

As far as I know there is no "official" trail for that gun or an informal one at this point as for all I know his copy is long gone too.

The way it should be is cash and item change hands without gubmint involvement.

If you're too dangerous to own a gun, then you shouldn't be on the streets at all. This prohibited person stuff is a bunch of BS.

When I bought my first pistol from a member it was back in the csf days.

We met in the sheets parking lot on 68. I looked the gun over and handed him the cash. He handed me the pistol. I asked if he wanted to see my ccw and he told me "You said you had one. Good enough."

As we parted he added "freedom" as he got in his truck.

It was inspiring.

When I bought my first gun you could buy High Standard 22's at Western Auto for 59.95. The only question I was asked was "Does Hazel know you're getting this?" Damn I wish I'd kept that gun.
