With the current rebate it seems they're as popular as ever. And it seems many on the board have one, but are there enough to make it the unofficial official small carry gun of CFF?

Got one today at ProShots, $362 or 3 out the door. Not the greatest deal, but not awful. Got to get to the range before determining its purpose, and probably whip up a holster or two.

If I didn't already carry a G43 that I REALLY like, I'd probably get one.
And put a trigger in it.

My wife just picked up a new Shield 9mm to replace her Glock 26 as her EDC. Those deals at PSA right now are hard to pass up. I think, with the rebate, it was $245.

Bought a Shield...sold it two months later. Didn't like it at all.
Not knocking anyones choice of EDC, but there are much better options out there for me.

I have seen some guys who shoot a Shield at matches and do really, really well with them. Lon of the Wilmington Mafia shoots one in .45acp and outshot everyone else at the most recent BUG match at H20.

@Starkherz199 is danged near legendary with one in 9mm.

It's a nice gun and the deals now are very good. I've had a pair of 9mm shields in the past, but when glock came out with the g43, game over for my shields. I'm just a glock guy I guess.

There are some good deals on the Shield right now. Whenever I check out any of the plastic guns I compare it to a Glock. So far, I haven't found one that I like better. And I'm now a member of the G43 cult.

I have a Shield and like it. Shoots very well for me.

I've owned two and liked them, but got rid of it. I'm not a fan of the internals. There's an M&P tampon in the trigger spring that isn't supposed to get wet (which turned me off to the design).

Had a 9mm one...didn't like it. Traded it for a Glock 27...keeper

They have to give them away for people to take them. I'll take my Glock any day. I am thinking about picking one up, as they are almost high point prices right now. Just to have one.

Got one in the safe with an Apex trigger, it's going to be my fiance's carry gun. It's a sweet shooting gun but I personally carry a Glock 43 or a 19.
With the deal PSA has right now you can get a Shield 45 for $225 after rebate ($262 OTD). That's very tempting, even if it's just to have another gun hidden in the house.

I'm a little surprised at the results, with every PSA sale being posted and few other posts about best prices and whatnot spurred by the rebates.
I generally carry a fullsize of one sort or another. Long thought something smaller in an auto would be convenient at times. My LCR is bit thick at the cylinder and reloads are painfully slow.
I held off on the Shield as long as I did because it's not actually small, not many of these supposed ultra compact 9s are, and I really don't get the excitement about any of them. I was thinking hard about a C model M&P as it's not much bigger, and grip length is my main obstacle to concealment, but price won out so I'm giving this a try. Have seen many shoot them very well, and hardly a complaint about them. The trigger is not nice, but it isn't awful, I think sights will be ordered as soon as I know I don't hate it.

Not a Shield fan, SW triggers aren't at all to my taste in their semi auto.

I have a Shield as my preferred carry gun, a Kahr when summer clothes allow. The trigger action is stock. I like a more 'deliberate' trigger for carry guns.

Agreed. This is why I chose the Diamondback DB9. Unfortunately the gun press chose to decree the DB9 as bad. I personally never has any issues with mine other than the excessive felt recoil.

It is the size of most of the compact 380s though which made for eminently comfy carry, usually in a back pocket wallet holster.

This is what my wife picked a few years back. And I was impressed, pre internet research, and failure. Accurate, best trigger of the bunch, small, light, and her nor I think the recoil is bad, slide bite though...

I'd have another, but after warrantying it for a problem the maker knew about that stopped the gun cold I was pretty put off. It's a carry gun, find a manufacturing flaw issue a recall IMO.

I really think they went just a little too far for lightness and likely could keep the dimensions add a couple ounces and have a solid pocket nine. Instead they did running changes and left the consumer to chance failure, good for short term profits, bad for repeat customers. My wife still hers, she'll never put the rounds through it I would so it'll probably last, it gets detail cleaned and inspected everytime it's fired. Been good for 6/700 rnds since repair. She's eyeballing the Shield though.

I carry a CZ P-01 almost daily but used to carry a Shield. Still have it and carry it occasionally but it usually resides in my laptop bag since CC at work is a no-no (shhh). Great gun and, with the 8 round magazines, fits my hand well. Trigger has smoothed out and it shoots like a bigger pistol when using 147 gr rounds. Only thing I have done is swap in night sights (well @Wahoo95 did)

Just bought a second one given the crazy deals. Now the wife and I both have 9mm shields.
I love it, it's one of the easiest to shoot, small, easily concealable, service caliber single stacks.

I carry a G22 as my EDC. For EP details I carry and M&P 2.0 as my main and a shield as my backup.

The main reason I like the shield as a backup is the safety. I don't like a sweep safety on a main gun but for a backup, which I have to carry in a more awkward position like small of back or ankle, I like having a safety.

Don't own one, have never even shot one.

BUG, if carried, is a G27 or .40 Pitbull.

I have wondered how they do such a crappy job with their triggers on so many of their semi auto pistols that otherwise have great ergonomics.

I've bought a couple of M&P LEO trade-ins, and they both have stock triggers as far as I can tell. No reset clicks and such. But the action is as smooth as well, cereal. When you know your gun, you'll know what to do when you need it. Of course, for a lot of people, the hard part is between the ears some keep telling me.

They must work at it, because the Shield and M&P triggers are bloody awful.

I have a Shield which I have been carrying daily for a while now, I have no issues with it, fits my hand well, shoots like a laser and handles like a much larger gun. It's set up identical to my M&P 2.0 which is my "big" carry gun as far as Apex trigger and front fiber optic, black rear sight.

That being said my Shield had a 10# trigger from the factory and was awful.
The Shield is now at the price point it should have always been, and at $275 after the rebate, I'll probably buy another, even with Apex parts and new sights, it comes in under $500.

I've held the G43 and its just a little too small in the grip for my hands.

I've had more than a couple shields, it seems to me that the triggers get better with age and wear.
