The PPS that I handled seemed like a great gun. I liked it a lot. There is a difference in the way it pointed than the Shield, but with familiarity that wouldn't be a problem. They hit a homerun with that one.Curious if you've handled a PPS M2 and how you would compare it. - I felt the PPS M2 was just a better built and feeling gun than the Shield so I opted for that. I like the ambi controls of the Honor Guard.
I've got both. Gave the S&W to my brother.Glock 43 for me. I would bet that there are more 43 carriers than Shields here.
I was set to buy a PPSM2 for EDC until I actually put my hands on one. It's sure a well made gun, but the double stack just made it too thick for me. My vision of a self defense situation involving shooting is a couple or three rounds is all that is likely to be fired. Single stack is lighter to carry and thinner, making it easier to conceal and more comfortable to carry. And yes, that is all personal preference, I'm not arguing one is 'better'. I ended up with a Sig P938 instead. You guys now have me thinking a Honor Defense sub compact is going onto my check-it-out list too.
Need more morning brew! My head is not functioning worth a damn. Editing the original postDouble stack? I have a PPSM1, and all the mags are single stack. For reference, it is almost identical to the XDs (the M2 version is not). The M2 version does have a bit of a palm swell on the grip.
I used to think the same thing regarding single vs double. I am an athletic guy and I started carrying my G19. Realized it was not any more difficult to conceal, although yes, single stacks are more comfortable.Edited to try to save face after my original brain-dead post.

Anyways, now I feel a little undergunned with a single stack - granted if I have a PPS M2 with 8+1 it aint too bad. Way better than a G26 imo.
Ya, so do I regardless of the gun, but that means in a single stack you got 7-9rds and then have to reload. - Nice knowing you've got 16 ready to go.I always carry an extra mag, especially when carrying a single stack.
Just remember...7lb trigger. It has a smooth pull, no overtravel, and a slightly longer reset than the Shield. But it is a better shooter. And you don't have to worry about any hinged trigger shoe.Edited to try to save face after my original brain-dead post.
