Shoulder holsters for EDC…still a “thing”?

I would like to own one for a different carry option, but the good quality ones i would consider are pretty expensive for my budget.

I use a chest holster from @RR . My set up is not for edc it would not hide very well and would be very hard to draw from concealment but it’s comfortable and perfect for hunting and other outdoor activities. View attachment 597823
I have some of the Kenai chest rigs, 1911, G19, and Ruger Blackhawk. Super easy for hiking and hunting.

I can see the use case for hunting especially with XL sized wheel guns.

I have a nerve problem that prevents carry of any weight on my waist, also my waist expanded to fill my IWB pants when I wasn’t carrying for a bit. Anyway, keep thinking about a shoulder holster but haven’t jumped. Don’t smoke or own a fedora in spite of my heritage.

You know you want to. Go ahead!

I'm really surprised at how low they hang. Might as well be on your belt.
Many different 'cant' options including almost horizontal under armpit. Some folks call this out as a defect as you cant draw without sweeping something. But for big heavy guns it is more stable and secure with the belt loop connection option. Mine fits a P239,much smaller package.

Folks who call this out have never used one. Take a half step forward into a “fighting stance”; you just changed the angle. You pull straight into your chest and present, just like any other draw. It’s almost exactly like a cross draw presentation. Tight elbows, gentlemen, tight elbows.

Jmoser called it right; gotta connect to the belt. And, it holds your pants up ! ( not that I’m getting older, but…)

I started off concealed carrying when I was younger with a shoulder holster. It's more comfortable than on your hip due to being able to sit with no issues and an easier draw while driving. Limited my clothing choices greatly though.

I used one for a little while with a Sig P230 when I was young and new into carrying. It's a lot of leather and straps, etc, and you can't take your jacket off. You have to balance many of those rigs or it will pull on the gun side - especially a bigger gun. With all of the gun options nowadays, I haven't found a use for a shoulder holster in 30 years.

I wore mine yesterday. I like them when it's cooler. I have some low back/sciatica issue sometimes and it keeps the holster off my belt and the stress off that area. And I love them for driving.

Gunbelt; didn’t you do a shockwave rig one time ?
I did. I did em for sawed off shotguns, MP-5’s, & of course The Ferguson Rig the choice of soccer moms in Ferguson MO during the riots!
The YouTube gun crowd always wanted crazy shit!
