While I do like string beans raw my Granny cooked em with pigs feet or pork bellyAlso surprised greenbeans like grandma cooks hasn't been mentioned. Traveled many places up north and green beans might as well be a raw vegetable
AmenI moved here from the West not the North, but I have to say that I LOVE chicken & waffles, fried okra and grits.

Havent tried that yet. I used buttermilk on top. Saw that in a youtube video. Somebody recorded mawmaw making biscuits like she done for 30 years… priceless stuff.

The rule for buttering Hardees biscuits is to dip 3" pastry brush in liquid margarine and the brush the tops of 3 biscuits. Dip once and brush three.I use butter and I add salt. Didn't know what my biscuits were missing until I added a pinch of salt.
You can make biscuits like Hardee's or Bojangles if you soak the tops in butter. You just can't be stingy with it
