Actually I'm cheating with these Gold Star pics. Though I had them for decades I've sold my Goldies (I got old and slow) and now ride a 250 Triumph and 250 Yamaha trail bikes :)

That Can Am is WAY to clean, Dave.

I know. Chdamn will take care of that this spring at his BBQ.

LOL...gonna let ashes settle all over it, too?!?

Funny you mentioned that. A week or so ago, I was putting on that same black sweatshirt I was wearing in that pic Brian posted. I was in our closet that has a fluorescent light on the ceiling. I was holding the sweatshirt up and started to pull it over my head when I noticed all of these small holes on the front and shoulders of the sweatshirt. It's a wonder I didn't erupt in flames sleeping by that barrel. Lol!

While you were sleeping....well, just be glad that was a fluorescent light and not a black light.

Here's a better shot of "Thelma" finished...wearing her PM Villains. She also has detachable LeatherLyke bags.
I got her for a song with 14k on the clock...dented tank...so she got new paint and powder coated engine/tranny covers.

I'm not crazy about the styling of the "new" V-Max, but bet it's a beast. I hate passing on a super clean, super low miles '98 in '06, but I already had that brutally fast ZRX at the time & just couldn't "justify" it.

Wish I could have fast bikes, but I finally realized that my inner child was a juvenile delinquent & I needed to quit while I was ahead.

The thing about the Generation 2 Max is the seat. I had a '93 Gen 1 Max I bought new. I rode it from Greensboro to Raleigh one day and I swear, on the way back from Raleigh, my thigh muscles were just about worn out from holding my butt off that seat. My tail bone ached for days after that short ride and I was only 30 then. I could have put a Corbin on it but I just sold it. But this VMAX I have now, I can ride all day and be comfortable. I just have to plan ahead for gas stops.

I've had some fast bikes in my time, some that were much faster than this VMAX. But I've never owned a stock production bike that had the kind of brutal acceleration that this bike has. One thing to note, Yamaha has their act together as far as aesthetics is concerned. My '88 FZR1000, my '93 Max, and this current Max, were all very well detailed out. The stainless fasteners and the attention to detail on the painted parts of the bikes is 2nd to none among foreign manufactured bikes, other than custom in my opinion. Just look at this pic of my current Max and how they detailed the engine and other areas.

My grandfather had some Panheads back in the day, now an electra glide (RIP, Miss you Pop)

My father got some fame through motorcycles, couple show winners built for family and customers
One of which was on the cover of the USA Today and countless other things, even set up in the Coke Museum in ATL.

you can google 'coke bike museum' and find pics of what he built in the garage of my childhood home.

SWEET monster! Wow. Nice parts list too.

Wife grabbed a rolling shot of me on my Buell XB12Ss

Love this bike, well actually just have a soft spot for sporty V-Twins. When I get a good paying job I think my next one is going to be a Ducati or KTM

ditch the 'gun shot' stickers from the gas tank and it'd be outstanding

Very, very cool. I had no idea you were a scooter tramp. I grew up on my dad's '75, 86", dual carb'd Shovel (first with the chopped '75FXE frame, then in stock rake rigid frame).

Agreed! Yamaha has always been the tightest with fit & finish. Your new Max is an awesome bike. Perfect for cutting heads at the stoplight. Well done.

Two words for you;
Super Duke.

I

I wish I could find a picture of mine. However, This is just like the first street bike I had. It was fast for its day. It really sucked down the gas. I could not make it from Charlotte to Myrtle Beach on a tank of gas.

Just put in some new Evitek G6 LED headlight bulbs. They are 25 watts and are 3200 lumens on low and 4500 on high beam. The round under mirror driving light is a new Auxbeam 60 watt 6000 lumen LED. The oval under mirror light is my old Hella FF50 55 watt halogen driving light. The clearance light on the right is a LED and the dull one is the old style. These lights really make a difference in the dark!

An H2? They're still fast. I remember when they ruled the drag strip.
As long as you didn't turn or need to use the brakes, they wouldn't kill you. ;)

Brand new in 1974. Hit a Cadillac with it. Lived, and sold it to dad six months later when I went off to school. He had it another 20 years, then gave it to JAARS. They sent it to Indonesia, and last I heard a missionary had it there.

Haha awesome. Dig the hair.
I told you to not to rely on the brakes...

I like 5th gens too.

But I feel like the 4th gen is a little sportier and rough around the edges. And I don't car much for linked brakes.
At any rate, I had to leave that bike in CA and would punch a baby for any VFR!

2005 Yamaha FZ-6 for me... Got it just a few months ago, after owning a 2002 Concours C10 and a 2000 Honda Shadow 750 before that. So far, I'm loving this bike. Fuel injection FTW, as far as I'm concerned.
