I didn’t even think to look at the section. It’s in the paid members discussion area. You seem to be really active on the forum. You should at least try a years paid membership. We have all kinds of good stuff there.

Also …. Forgot to mention … great dogs at Percy Flowers Store in Clayton, NC and really good hotdogs at Jones Lunch in downtown Clayton, NC
I've had both places since I live in the Clayton area. Both are very tasty but it is still hard to beat a Zacks hotdog from Burlington! Even though the original family no longer owns the restaurants ( after 94 years!), the food is still the same and the chili and hot sauce are really special!.

Whatever the dog, grilled with char marks is best.

In my starving, poor days recovering from the financial hell from my ex-wife, diced hot dogs browned/blackened in butter, then added to Kraft Macaroni and Cheese.

But all this talk is REALLY making me crave some haggis.

Interestingly, there's something called the Scottie Dog, a "hot dog infused with haggis" that I'm dying to try some day.

I am late to this but the best hot dogs are red. I will eat any kind though. My favorite place in Wake County is the gas station at the corner of Old Stage/Rock Service Station. Best in Lee County is Howard's Dips and Dawgs in Broadway. The Dairy Hut in Cherry Grove, North Myrtle Beach also makes an amazing hotdog.

I totally forgot about the community mart at old stage / rock service station. Have not been there in a while. Good choice!

The south gets most things right, but not hot dogs or sausages. Having this discussion is just silliness.
First of all, The South is capitalized.
Second, your Assimilation jus' went backkards a might... needs lotsa work!

He ain’t never gonna be right. He needs a beating or a bullet. The second would be illegal, so let's got with the first.

Seriously, no experienced dog or sausage eater would consider those crappy red things as worthy of any respect. I’m sure there is some small place somewhere in the south turning out great dogs, brats or sausages. But the Midwest and NY have tons pf great options in that area. It is about equal to claiming NY whole hog cooking is as good as NC‘s. That would be just dumb. Or maybe Nebraska has great seafood. Yeah, sure.

I won’t eat those red things either, but have you learned nothing I’ve tried to teach you?

There is a song lyric in there somewhere.

Devil Went Down to GA!

If you are going to police my online grammar and typing you are going to have a full time job ahead of you. That’s a sad life. Don’t do that.

We had a Curtis packing right across the street from my work when I started the local municipality at 20 years old, they made hotdogs, bacon and who knows what else. But right beside Curtis was Carolina by-products. The smell coming from that place, that had truck loads of dead hogs come in when it was 100 degrees out, made us associate with Curtis. For a long time I wouldn’t eat that stuff.

Then I got over it and realized bacon was more important

I live in a mixed household- 1/2 Southern, 1/2 Yankees. So I end up cooking both kinds. I am a Carolina Packer man- don't give me that fake Jessie crap!
Thorton's in Four Oaks was great. Before my time, my Granddaddy had Eark's Frozen Custard in Benson. Mom was a carhop waitress. Only sold Carolina Packers, so I guess it is in my blood.

Imma gonna have to find some of these and try some
If you give them a try…. Get the loose packed bag, not the standard vacuum packed version.

Same goes for the Bright Leaf Red Hots, which are excellent when you split them open and pan sizzle them until slightly darkened / charred. Good for any meal, including breakfast.

Correlation, meringue to yankee hot dogs

Bright leaf are the only hot dogs, James' in Goldsboro, 2 all the way
James’ is one of the few places I haven’t tried, even though I pass by the area when heading down to Busco Beach. Will need to give them a try, as I have always heard good reviews about them.
