Threaded 357 lever gun

Remember the first law of sales....tell 'em they can't have it.

Amazing what that'll do. Those you showed had a total of 64 bids and they aren't through Yet!

The Henry just came back in stock. Went up in price from $736.99 to $819.99...but I ordered one anyway.

No idea when we’ll see the Marlin, so I opted not to wait it out again. If it does come back in stock, maybe I grab one and sell the Henry. Who knows?

Bet the Henry surprises you.

You could load some...
I could. Just because I have brass, primers, powder and projectiles for them doesn’t mean I’ll actual do it.

Found my 5/8-24 piston. Forgot it was black. Now I’m even more tactical!!

Rail piece in route. FBS in route. Decided to order a Lil P as well. If it doesn’t stay on this one, I have another host I’ll try it on.

you putting a piston on a fixed barrel? isn't that bad for the piston?

edit - let me rephrase... I know a fixed mount on a tilting barrel is a pain, but i've always heard you shouldn't put a piston/booster on a fixed barrel. what's the background on this and am i believing internet myth again?

Piston with a fixed barrel spacer. Just a solid (ok, admittedly some have slots) piece that replaces the spring.

I prefer them in most cases, especially if you’re moving the silencer between hosts that with fixed and tilting barrels. This is because if you use a piston and FBS, the piston fits in the grooves in the birdcage (blast chamber) of the silencer. If you use a fixed mount, all of that is wide open to potentially get filled in with carbon, lead, plating, powdercoating, etc...and becomes quite the task to clean up before you can use a piston again.

In this particular case, however...I don’t have a choice. The Silencerco Osprey can’t used a fixed mount.

Here’s the SiCo version:

Here’s the Griffin version:

Here’s one mounted:

...and just as a note, it’s not just potentially bad for the piston. If you use a booster on a fixed barrel, the silencer acts like a little pneumatic jackhammer and you risk damage to the barrel threads.

ooh, okay. The only piston i have is for the gemtech multimount 9mm, but i also have the fixed mount for it that.
I should buy more suppressors.
BTW, did you see that there's a site with a deal going on? buy a gemtech, get a cheaper gemtech free.
the prices aren't TOO high to make it a decent deal

It’s all coming together...

Only item not already here, or due today, is a leather lever wrap. Hope to go pick up the rifle from THSF tomorrow.

As it came out of the box (except for the scratches on the side gate I added when loading some ammo):

And you aren't here to test it?
I was thinking on the way home I needed to run to your place instead of going to PHA. 😎

Maybe sometime between now and next Friday’s lunch? I’m taking Tuesday off, so I can run up there if you’ll be home.

That gun looks terrible. I'll take it off your hands

@JimB got to see it in person today when I picked some some ammo from him. I’ll bring it to lunch next Friday for anybody that wants to check it out.

Is it quite enough to shoot those golf balls next door🥳
Quite what enough? 🤪

Guess we’ll find out. But I need to shoot it unsuppressed first to at least make sure something isn’t wonky and bullets aren’t stabilizing.

It looks good! I’ve been planning to thread one of my Marlins for years, now I might just buy a threaded lever gun.

Maybe Tuesday not sure I'll be home.
Or maybe Friday morning. Gotta take 🐶 for a grooming at 9a, so I’ll have an hour or so to burn. Groomer is in Cornelius, so not far away.

A couple thoughts:

1. I know it’s not supposed to wrap around the top, but the piece was long enough and I had enough clearance...so I did it
2. Probably should’ve tried to pull it tighter as it made the 180°, but I didn’t want to risk snapping the sinew thread since they only sent one piece. It has a little bit of a buckle to it, but your hand won’t really be at the back end so hopefully it’s comfy enough.

and unrelated to this final step:
3. I think the optic is just a hair too high, but I’ll see if I can adapt. Hoping for a initial test fire on Friday.

I like that, might have to try it. My Rossi kinda hurts my fingers when I try to run fast.

I’ll bring you a surprise tomorrow... 😎

That really nice piece there @BigWaylon

Ive always wanted a 357 lever gun.

I have a Henry X in .357. It is an awesome rifle. This is the first Henry I’ve had with a side loader. Don’t ever use the side loader. Still like the tube. I will say they 3-dot fiber optic sights are a little busy But like every Henry I’ve owned, it’s first class quality.
