Threaded 357 lever gun

Here’s the thing, if yer gonna marry an ugly woman she needs to be really good at some other things. What is this contraption good at?
It’s rectangular, like the silencer. 🤣

I’m going to post this question here instead of the Optics forum hoping some of you lever gun shooters will see it.

I think I want to use a Bushnell Lil P on a different rifle, and they’re discontinued. So I’m considering moving mine from my Big Boy X to the other rifle.

First thought is to put a 1-4 scope on the Henry.

Will a normal one-piece AR scope mount be anywhere close to the right height? I don’t have one here to test out, and thought I’d ask before ordering one to try.

I would expect it to be perfect, for a giraffe.

Figuring out which rings to order always hurts my head, but you want ones that are a fuzz taller than half the diameter of the front objective minus half the diameter of the tube (I think that’s right) unless the rail you’re mounting to doesn’t extend under the front of the scope, in which case you subtract the distance from the barrel to the rail.

Then all the numbers confuse you and you get the wrong height. Repeat 10 time over a couple years and you’ll have a good collection of scope rings to try.

That’s about what I figured. Similar to not having a drawer/box full of holsters, I don’t have a single set of scope rings in a drawer/box around here to try.

I do have two scope and two mounts inbound for a couple ARs, so at least I can mock them up on the Henry sometime soon and see just how bad it is.

With that short piece of rail, it’ll also let me know if the objective will hang off or not. I think it will. And since the scopes I first looked at are all skinny in the front, I might get away with some really low rings.

i've been sitting on this TC 6.5 and a nice vortex scope for over a year because i just don't want to do the math...

Sell the Henry and buy a Browning. 😬

Seriously. Here me out.

I impulse bought a BLR in 6.5 Creedmor. Pretty rifle, decent trigger. Hate to scope a lever gun, but what‘s the point of a 6.5 with open sights? So I begin the dreaded process of trying to figure out the scope and ring thing. Like @JimB said it’ll take trial and effort or math skills I don’t have. So I order a scope and then go to the Browning site to hunt down what rings will work. And guess what? They have a guide giving you ring heights based on your scope’s objective size. Holy crap that was easy! Why doesn’t everyone do cool crap like that?

Stole the Lil P to put on the PS90. 1-4X scope is in route, but I temporarily moved the SPARC (on its low mount) from the PS90 to the Henry.

Don’t think any of the previous pics included the sleeve I bought. Holds six rounds (obviously made for longer rifle rounds) on the right side.

And I put a foam pad (included with sleeve) underneath the top/left side to raise my head up a little.

Now I just need to see the height of the rings that came with the scope…and possibly find some lower ones if needed.

Scope came in. Got a set of the lowest rings they made.

Seems to work pretty decent in this position:

Nice looking setup!

Is it worth the cost for a gunsmith to thread a Rossi if the magazine tube is flush with the barrel?
Probably depends on the caliber (assuming you’re asking about a silencer.

I had my lever and pump Rossi 22LR rifles threaded. Even that took a little extra work to make them fit.

If you did a caliber that used a bigger OD can, you’d have to be comfortable using a threaded extension to push the shoulder out enough.

Yes, for a suppressor. It’s .357. Bought it years ago never having the intentions of wanting it suppressed but now that I do I realize the barrel is flush with the magazine tube.

Buy something like this and Rocksett it to the new barrel threads.
