With the era of single stack 7-9rd compacts at an end, what is everyone doing with their Shields, PPS', and the like? I've never been much for selling my collection but I'm wondering if I'd be better off doing so and taking the cash to get some newer designs.

With the 365xl and Xmacro, I'd likely never carry any of the smaller capacity guns again...that said, not sure if it's worth the ~ $300ish (if that) I'd get from them.

Seems like everyone is getting away from them. I’ve sold several of the slimline just to invest in the higher capacity stuff. Just makes sense 👍

Still pocket carry my LC9 every step of every day. If I leave the property I will always have my full size IWB. I totally get the move to double the capacity, more or less, in the size of my LC9, just don't have the urgency for the role it fills for me.

Sell them, if you want (I sold mine) or repurpose them. They make good truck/emergency guns (store them in separate rooms throughout the house so you have quick access). Heck, even convert one or two to shower guns. Every house needs a shower gun 😬

Sell them. I have range toys I will keep for no other reason that the enjoyment of having them but my EDC is a tool and there is no love lost when they go.
I am about to do the same on any non optic ready pistols I have as well. a G43 and a G19 gen 5 are about to go.

I somehow ended up only with single stacks that aren't in 9mm. One is light enough that it is reserved for situations where I have to be in gym shorts, and is just a fun gun to shoot. The .45 is just a nice piece, so it mostly collects dust, though I bring it out when others go to the range with me who aren't used to shooting so they get to experience handling other calibers. Some get stashed around the house to ensure I'm always in close proximity to one I can grab in a pinch.

I’ll continue carrying my G43.

It has a je ne sais quoi that I have not found in other carry pistols.

Plus it’s paid for and I know it’s reliable. Also, I just don’t care much these days to try the newest thing.
What he said ^^^

I owned four or five small guns for “carry" before the G43, and have owned four or five since. The 43 is the keeper. I trust it, and how I handle and shoot it.

I just mention to my dad that I'm thinking of getting rid of X, and then somehow it ends up in his safe with no money in my hands to show for it.

If the world ends and my house blows up, I'm going to have to rearm from the safe of misfit guns at his house.

I still own and carry (in warmer weather) a brace of G43s. One on my person and one in a bag.

In the colder months they go in the safe in favor of a brace of Glock double stacks.
Sometimes I regret not having relocated from Blighty to a state with capital W winter. NC just doesn't support the long heavy coat with a slung pdw under it.

Compacts are desirable not just for their small size, but for their light weight.

I still carry my original Shield and PF-9/ P3AT for their light weight.

If I have to shoot, I'm then likely going to scoot, not stay in a protracted gunfight. The best gun to carry is one that you'll actually carry all the time. For me, that's something that doesn't weigh a ton.

I had 3 shields, bought 2 shield pluses, sold the 2 shields that weren’t cerakoted and modified. The remaining shield has more value to me than the market so I’m happy to hold on to it. I have no current use for it but that’s fine with me.

If you are happy with what you have certainly the G43 is capable.
For me my EDC is the most likely to be used so I rather have the most capable EDC out there. My P365 is the exact size as the G43 and has optics so not giving up anything on size but double the capacity is a win for me. Rather have 12 and use 8 than need 8 and have 6.

I shoot them. 😃
Blasphemy. Unless it's the very latest untested Squig brand triple stack papier-mache framed 1/3rd scale Navy Seal issued (they gave em right back) blaster, that just isn't allowed.

*I do highly suggest a carbine for the bathroom gun. You're at your most vulnerable and the psychological warfare bonus of a naked man with Charmin in one hand and a M4gery in the other is quite high to chase away even the most hardened criminal scum.

I think my "Hi Peezy Fotayfi" with the "long stick" may just graduate to bathroom gun.

If it goes rusty on me I can just send it back for reconditioning after all.

Never touch the light switch if the water is overflowing the sink.

I always thought a shoulder-holster for the bathroom gun was the way to go. Ready to go, clothing optional.
I'll just grab the bathroom bat in one hand and the Hi Peezy in the other and come out bellowing and au naturale, belly and balls swinging counter balance for maximal stability.

My wife asked why I needed a pistol with the Beef Jerky and Microwavable Pork Rinds. I looked her dead in the eyes and said "I WILL NOT EAT THE BUGS"

If you can't make a 200 yard shot while carrying the Browns to the Super Bowl.... you aren't going to make it. A porthole window in the bathroom is en vogue for the discerning tactical connoisseur.

I mean I still carry one of those outdated 5 shot J Frames in my pocket on occasion. With **gasp** 148 gr wadcutters in it.

Surely that will be the reason I die.
I think you'll be fine. And don't call me Shirley.

I am sure you have the requisite grappling skills to hold off your assailant with one arm while you draw from pocket carry and take them out at “bad breath” distance

Not sure I understand the "outdated" terminology. Mine still go bang every time and I sure as hell would not want someone to point it at me and pull the trigger.

To me it's not a right or wrong issue, just different. I'll get rid of mine when they wear out.

As it turns out, my grappling skills are pretty on point.

Sounds like firearms manufacturers are taking marketing queues from mfg of women's clothing.

Declare the old 'out of style' to sell new.
I figured it to be a logical question now that you can carry double the capacity in the same size package. I only bought them for concealability to begin with.

Keep them, unless you really need the money or storage space. You can never have enough guns, mags and ammo

Sold my first gun in a LONG time and it was my 43. After getting a 43X, 365X and Xmacro, it would never get carried or shot again.

I sold my shields and g43s years ago before this all started, never cared for them.

I still have a G42 because it's actually pocketable which is nice to have as an option even if I rarely carry it.

Besides, chasing performance and capacity all the time is tiring and at the end of the day I really don't think a shield with 8 rounds vs one with 11 or whatever really matters.

I just coat mine in some wax and oil/grease and let them enjoy a nice home. Seems like too much effort/risk to sell them for the 100$ they're maybe worth.

if you wanna sell a pps m2 for $100, let me know. i only have one right now.. or maybe two. i'm reliable.

Carrying it. I don't expect to ever need to John Thick my way to work, so 7-9 is fine. I've got an LCP Max that I need to test so I can carry it.
lcp in my sweatpants, pps m1 is still a great edc (capacity aside), and i still have a couple p32 for when I need to stuff a neoprene holster deep down in my pants

One of these days I'll get a full on gun room, with locked security door, and invest in displays.

When I actually get round to test firing it, it will be LCP Max strong side w the 12rd mag and LCP weak side with the 8rd mag. New York Reload all the way lol
